Slightly tart, a nice crust, and just a touch of sweetness on top. The gluten free cupcake was enjoyed by my friend who said it was exceptional. The other cupcake is a treat for my husband. Overall, the beautiful variety of macaroons are the breadwinner for this bakery. Not many bakeries make or sell them. Service was great--welcoming, helpful, and patient. I will definitely return. After you make note of the fact that this bakery is no longer located in Rotterdam and has relocated to 1671 Union Street in Schenectady, rush there to buy some macarons. That's MACARONS, not macaroons. If you don't know the difference, you'll enjoy learning from your first bite of a macaron. The owner/baker, Bri Larsen, previously made macarons several years ago for TC Paris in Saratoga Springs. When I reviewed the macarons there over eight years ago, I was floored by how delicious they were. Today, I brought home nine different varieties. They are $27/doz. or $2.30 each. I've never previously experienced such light and flavorful macarons as I tasted today. These were better than what I had at TC Paris, and they even cost me less than what I paid eight years ago. Just to give you a sampling of some of the flavors that Chef Larsen makes, consider, chocolate/strawberry; cookies n cream; cinnamon bun; pistachio; cherry; and salted caramel. Went in here to try some of the baked goods for a friends kids birthday party ordering. Bought a lemon macaron, salted caramel sauce, and a cupcake. the lemon macaron was amazing. Perfect texture, a little tall but fresh and sharp lemon taste. The salted caramel sauce was really smooth and well balanced, though I never did find the right temperature to serve it at, just swiped it on pancakes for a few days and put some in my coffee (which did not work very well if I'm honest) The cupcake was a mixed bag. The frosting tasted good but unfortunately the cooler did funny things to the funfetti texture. Its probably just because funfetti is weird. I'd definitely return and try a non sprinkle added cupcake from here. And the giant bars of snack delicious or the blondies. read more

Very cute bakery on union street. So glad the union st development finally have a bakery in town, especially very delicate French macaroon desserts!! I think this is the first bakery on the development, I grew up in the neighborhood n we always have to drive to Schenectady, Latham or Clifton park to buy desserts. The baker was very friendly, You can tell there are a lot of efforts and hard work that went into the making of each macaroons with unique flavors and designs. I ordered for a baby shower. Owner was super nice. The day of pick up, there was an older gentleman that was there, possibly her father, they were super nice offered to help me carry out my orders to my car. I love supporting small businesses, and on top of their customer service, I will definitely recommend them. Place is small inside but it's bright and cute. Their macarons are a good size and are scrumptious. The pistachio one was my favorite. It's not overly sweet. Cupcake were great too, I love that it was also not overly sweet. I worked with Bri for my wedding, I just got married at the Maples Estate in early September. We did a small cake for my husband and I to cut, then macarons and cupcakes. Bri was truly one of my absolute favorite vendors to work with! It was so fun and collaborative. I shared our design board and some inspiration photos we had for our wedding, and Bri took it from there! Everything was beautiful, just so cute and all of her desserts are absolutely fantastic! Bri was so good about helping with numbers and figuring out what we needed, which was perfect. She also gave was super clear instructions for what needed to be refrigerated/what we needed to do to make sure the desserts were perfect by serving time. A few flavor shoutouts are necessary! First, Bri made us a custom fruity pebbles macaron flavor which was amazing and so fun, we love breakfast and wanted something to match that. The crème brûlée macaron is a MUST! The salted caramel cake and frosting is just wow. And a surprise combo for us, brown butter cake and creamsicle frosting is so tasty, we highly recommend! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I walked in hoping to come to a warm welcoming bakery experience, especially since there were so many good reviews on this place and really there are only a few bakeries in this area. The bakery has its attractive appearance with neatly placed desserts on display (average), great art decor, details and menu beautifully displayed when you walk in. A lady came out looked at me and proceeded to put away some dessert bars and asked me a couple min later if I needed help, I proceeded to ask questions on the variety of desserts, if she had cupcakes with cream cheese toppings, as those are my favorite, and as soon as I asked those two questions she gave me cold one word responses with a facial expression resembling to someone with flat affect. Immediately I lost interest at the dessert display. No display of any customer service, friendliness or even respect for human interaction at this encounter. OMG Whiskey Business is wonderful. Bri did the cake and cupcakes for my wedding and it was so delicious. My groom loves blueberry and I had been searching for a place to do a lemon/blueberry cake. The cake Bri created was perfect. Lemon with fresh blueberries and a cream cheese frosting for my groom and me, while my guests enjoyed chocolate cupcakes with raspberry buttercream and vanilla cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream. Bri is the best at what she does..no where near compares!!... from Los Angeles California to Philadelphia Pennsylvania and to upstate New York, I have not found a better bakery than Whiskey Business, run by Bri!!!!!!!! Sweet place, finally stopped in for the first time, picked up cupcakes for a party ($25.00 for 12). Beautiful presentation, I expected them to be outstanding, worse tasting cupcakes I've had in a long time, they were dry and barely had any flavor, a few other party-goers agreed. I heard the macarons are outstanding but haven't tried them yet, but I will. From reading other reviews, maybe they need to give up on the cupcakes or find a new recipe! read more
