Instead of sending the order to my gift recipient, they sent it to me. I couldn't forward it for Christmas because by then it would be both late and stale. I had to scramble to get something else out (a really thoughtful gift card). I was stuck with the cookies, so I tried them, and believe me, they were nothing special. This is a cute little bakery that my friend and I stopped at to try a few of their things at the recommendation from another friend! We tried the chocolate and gf white bonbons which were our absolute favorite! They were like cake pops and so moist and delicious! I 100% recommend those. We also tried the eclair and black and white cookie which were also good but standard. They have so many other things that look fun to try as well so we'll have to stop by again when in the area. I ordered some cannoli as desert for a dinner gathering. I placed the order on Wednesday for pickup on Friday. I paid using a credit card when I placed the order by phone. When I arrived to pick up on Friday I was able to go right to the cash register, get my order, and leave. I was probably in the store less than two minutes. That was good for me. If I had to wait I am sure I would have been tempted to peruse the the goodies in the display counter which is large and looked amazing from a distance. Everyone agreed that the cannoli were great. I can honestly state that it was the best I have ever had. There was some discussion about the filling. It was sweet, but not too sickening sweet. It was perfect. Everyone thought it must not be ricotta based, but according to the web site it is "A light crispy shell filled with sweeten ricotta pastry cheese." We are here visiting in New York, and I expect that we will be back next time we are here. I will plan to spend some time looking over the display counter on the next trip. read more

This is on of the few places with great gluten free options for cake and cupcakes. They are dense and moist and come in a variety of flavors. We just got a chocolate with vanilla buttercream and vanilla with raspberry buttercream. They also do an amazing job decorating any Pinterest inspired idea I find. read more

Not at all impressed. My husband and I went in looking for a wedding cake along with cupcakes for our daughter's wedding. The younger girl who waited on us kept directing us to their website when we asked about fillings, frostings and other questions. If we wanted to go online we would have stayed home and opened our laptop. She was not alone so we were quite surprised when the other employees behind the counter didn't come out and assist her with all the questions she didn't know how to answer. We ended up leaving and driving down to Bella Napoli where the manager took the time to sit down with us, discuss fillings, frostings, colors and go through a book of wedding cake photos with us. We ended up ordering right then and there. If management reads this, your employees could learn a great deal from the manager at Bella Napoli. read more

I ordered cookie decorating kits for a company offsite for ~35 people a couple months ago. They were delicious and got great feedback from a team. They arrived quickly and none of the cookies broke! There were a ton of cookies and decorating materials, & the frosting was super tasty! Mary answered all my questions and the process was so easy. I ordered a cake for my son's first birthday. I lovely young girl took my order and asked all the essential questions. I told her the theme (farm) and said I would like a barn and a few farm animals on the cake. She asked if I wanted the side of the cake or the top decorated and I said the side with the writing on the top. she said ok, told me there would be an upcharge for fruit filling and then called the cake decorator over to verify the details. The decorator came and looked at my order and said that a few animals would be too much-that they would have to charge more so I said ok, just do a barn with a cow and that would be enough. I paid and left and set the date/time for pick up. Fast forward to the day of the party, I get a phone call 2 hours before pick up from the decorator. I unfortunately missed the call as I was busy getting ready for the party. They left a message basically saying that decorating the side of the cake should have been an up charge because it takes twice as long to do and she wasn't going to be able to decorate the side and would have to put it on top and she hoped I was OK with that decision. I don't think that's a good way to run a business. It was their mistake: the girl herself asked if I wanted the side or top decorated and when I said side she should have told me it would be more. Also the decorator should have checked over the order slip when she came to speak to me about the number of animals on the came. bite the bullet and decorate the cake the way that was agreed upon when I paid. We've ordered many cakes from D&B and they are always delicious and absolutely stunning. I called a couple days ago to order a cake for my Mother's Birthday. I spoke to a very sweet woman who was excited to hear the cake was: Happy Birthday Nana, she was excited to tell me she was a "Nana" too. I should know, as I've literally ordered hundreds of cookies from them as favors for various occasions (two bridal showers, one wedding hotel gift bag, one baby shower, and one baby christening, but who's counting?), and every time they deliver with uniform perfection. Their cutout cookies are famous throughout the Capital District and beyond. These crunchy sugar cookies are always dressed for the occasion, smothered with precise frosting, a pinch of edible glitter flakes, and baked into some really fun and recognizable shapes, like a wedding dress, baby onesie, horse jockey silk, or baby's christening gown (from my orders). They're more like a work of art then a dessert, but you're a smart cookie, so don't be fooled, just take a bite. In addition to being colorful and tasty, they make great party favors, as the bakery will individually wrap each cookie in a cellophane bag and tie it with matching colored ribbon. Nice touch! Key takeaway here: if you have an event, they have a cookie for it. For Christmas this year, we took a break from sugar cookies to give some of Dolce's other sweet carbs a chance to shine, and they really lit up our Christmas morning breakfast spread! An Irish soda bread, Italian panettone, and a Polish sweet bread made an appearance, and they did not disappoint! My mother picked them out to represent my family's international flair (cute!) so not only was it a Christmas morning gastronomic adventure, but a genealogical one, too. I love a hearty Irish soda bread, and this one really hit the mark: a hearty loaf with a dense, tight crumb, and just the right amount of sweet raisins, and while I prefer my Irish soda bread raisin-free, this one felt lucky. Though called a bread in Italy, panettone is eaten as a dessert or a snack; because it's not overly sweet, the long slivers can be gobbled up with guiltless abandon, and that's exactly what we did. I'm disappointed that I'm here to downgrade my previous review. I'll still say their grab and go stuff like cookies and cupcakes are good but I would never do a special order here again. A cake was ordered for me here and my boyfriend requested they put strawberries ON TOP of my cake. I like plain vanilla cake with plain vanilla frosting and yes, I know how boring this probably is to a lot of people but it's what I like. Instead they put strawberries inside my cake which turned the layers of the cake into slimy mush like it had been sitting for awhile. It was absolutely disgusting when I cut into it. There were also big holes where there was no frosting or anything. For as much as this cake cost, it should have been perfect. Very upset with it. I won't be back here for a special order again, and I'm disappointed that I have to say that. Exercising creativity when somebody asked for something specific is not okay. read more

First time at Dolce and Biscotti, today. The experience was a little overwhelming but the pastries were delicious! There was a huge line, so we waited in a line outside. The whole time an older man (the owner) was running around with no mask on asking if there were any call ahead orders. Most of the workers behind the counter did not wear a mask, but there's a sign outside that says all of their staff is vaccinated. As we approached the counter to order, there was another woman in front of us. She asked the red-headed woman behind the counter for a certain cookie, and she rudely responded, "those are seasonal". She continued to be condescending and rude throughout the woman's whole order. The employee wasn't wearing a mask so you could very clearly see her facial expressions and annoyed eye rolls. I thought that was completely unprofessional and rubbed me the wrong way. They have great pastries but their customer service needs a ton of work. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dolce & Biscotti... we were having a birthday party for my 4 year old daughter that I thought for sure we would have to cancel due to rain so I held off on ordering cupcakes. Low and behold, come Friday the forecast had completely changed for Saturday. When I called D&B to ask if there was any chance they could make two dozen, unicorn themed cupcakes, along with a dozen gluten free by the following afternoon, not only were they able to accommodate my request but from initial phone call to pickup they were incredibly kind and helpful. Having a very sweet tooth and drinking a very strong venti Starbucks coffee, I needed to stop at Dolce & Biscotti located in the Town Center Plaza in Halfmoon. Stepping inside this little Italian bakery feels very feminine since the wall colors are bright pink. They have a decent selection of frosted cupcakes, cannolis (prefilled), cookies, brownies, pastries, bread, full size cakes, and assorted fancies. The bakery area is open behind the display cases, watching the staff frost and bake cakes. I decided to get a box with a few items to go with the coffee. I got a chocolate dipped cannoli with chocolate chips, a brownie with buttercream & cherry, lemon bar, and small cookie stuffed with fig paste, totaling $6.50. All of the items were chilled and the taste was sweeter than most bakeries I've been to. The fig cookie was pretty good to snack on, could taste some orange flavors too, but the lemon bar tasted like all sugar, could not taste any lemon flavors. The brownie was chewy topped with a sugary sweet frosting. The cannoli had a sweet ricotta filling, decent. Gosh, that venti coffee was finished so quickly with all those sweets. Finally got to try the Tiramisu cake. It is really rich and buttery. The 6 inch cake is supposed to serve 4 to 6 people. I think 6 to 9 might be more like it. I also think it could benefit from more espresso flavor. The key to enjoying this cake is to let it get to room temperature before eating. Otherwise the butter cream frosting will do you in. I've also been enjoying the Savory Scone with bacon and scallions. Yum! We've only bought smaller items at this bakery, but they've been very good to excellent. Recently, we stopped on our way to Albany and bought a few traditional Christmas cookies and one gluten free cheesecake (shaped like a cupcake). The frosted cookies were better than the gingerbread men, but both were good. And the men had a definite, pleasant ginger flavor. Gluten Free Issues: My companion is strictly gluten free for health reasons. She has not been disappointed with their quality and purity. The latest, a gf cheesecake, elicited multiple joyous exclamations! Most critical -- she's very sensitive but has never had a problem with the gf products here. Issues: There was a variety of glutonous Christmas cookies but none gf. Second, their credit card readers allow dipping chip cards (good for security) but don't take phone pay (even more secure than dipping). They're built for NFC but it's not implemented. Staff: Very friendly and we noticed a manager (or the owner?) making sure that no customers waited without help. The staff work the bakery production area as well as the retail counter and they go back and forth. Location: The bakery sits back off Rt. 9. We find it by looking for the post office and then go just a short distance south. There's plenty of parking right near the door including at least one handicapped spot. If you use Yelp's check-in feature, do it before you pay. The day I was there it brought up a great coupon for a freebie. read more

This. Place. Is. Amazing. We've gotten the Chocolate Blackout Cake from the specialties menu twice! Best decision everrrrr. Thus cake has three layers of chocolate cake, which both times were perfectly moist and not overly dense. Between the layers there's a generous portion of chocolate pastry cream that reminds me a little bit of chocolate pudding. The dark chocolate frosting is definitely my favorite part though - so chocolatey and smooth. To finish it off, there is a fudgy chocolate ganache drizzled over the top which just adds a special touch. Both times we ordered this cake, I ate two gigantic slices. Everything I've tried from Dolce has been been delicious. Most recently, I stopped in on my way up to a friends house and wanted to bring some treats. I opted for a variety of cookies - chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar cookies, cake balls, etc. I also got myself a small box of chocolate chip and fudge fancies to enjoy once I got home. All were yummy, and fairly priced. The storefront is quaint and smells amazing - there were even samples of Pumpkin spice cookies for the taking, which made my two little ones happy. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating is that I think their employees could be a bit more friendly and inviting. It seemed as though I was bothering them being in the shop spending money! We were in Clifton Park today on business. Luckily our obligation took us to the same plaza as West End Bagels which prompted a stop at The Cookie Factory and Dulce & Biscotti. My mission: To sample a few specialty items from both shops and to pit them against each other in a head to head tasting of cannoli (mini) and sfogliatelle. I purchased cannoli and sfogliatelle from both shops and sampled them side by side. Dolce & Biscotti was the clear winner. Cookie made an admirable attempt but the cannoli shell had a slightly floury taste and the cream was close to a pudding texture. Visually Dulce's cannoli was stunningly beautiful. The texture of the shell was practically perfect and the filling was creamy and more.....just more. As for the sfogliatelle, again Dulce was the better product. Cookie Factory's was smaller and slightly overbaked. The filling was fine but had a slight artificial lemon taste. Dulce's sfogliatelle was textbook. The pastry was perfectly baked and almost annoyingly flaky. The filing was subtle with a slight hint of brightness the made the lemon taste light and natural. Italian pastry at it's very best. The cream puff was fine. I wish the custard had been creamier, but after the perfection of the sfogliatelle it didn't shine as much in comparison. It was a very hard act to follow. read more

I have been coming to Dolci & Biscotti for years. But the last few times I have been very disappointed. Purchased some cupcakes today and the red velvet cupcake is so dry it crumbles. Its not moist at all. The red from the cupcake was bleeding into the frosting which I have never seen before on their red velvet cupcakes. One need not wonder why this establishment wasn't named one of the best bakeries in the Capital Region, as it is due to their rude demeanor. I ordered a small tray of Italian cookies (on Tuesday) for a co-worker's retirement. I indicated that I would pick up order on Thursday by 4:15 p.m., and provided payment and my phone number. Thursday arrived and was one of the hottest days this summer. I work until 4:00 p.m., and do not have the ringer turned up on my personal phone while at work, nor do I check my phone regularly. I happened to see a message on my phone at 3:15 p.m., so I listened to the voicemail; the message was from bakery and was time stamped at 2:46 p.m. The message indicated that bakery was closing early (at 3:00 p.m.) due to the extreme heat. Needless to say, it was too late to pick up my prepaid order due to the late notification from bakery. While I am grateful the owners are considerate of their staff on such a sweltering day, their customer service skills are lacking. I sent a e-mail message indicating that an earlier phone call would have been appreciated; I received no reply. I sent a message the next morning to say one of my co-workers would pick up cookies; no response from bakery. Co-worker encountered rudeness from staff when picking up order. Also, as previously indicated, I ordered a small tray of "Italian" cookies. Not sure when a chocolate chip cookie became an Italian cookie, but that--among other non-Italian cookies--were on the tray. Let's just say that the cookies were not a hit, and totally not worth the price. Look elsewhere for your authentic Italian cookies--minus the attitude. I had never been to Dolce and Biscotti before but was really impressed with the variety of baked goods they sell. And everything looked absolutely enticing. We grabbed a couple cookies and what I would call whoopie pies. They were all great. We didn't get any but the cupcakes were works of art and had fun flavor options. There were tables set up with pies, cookie boxes etc as you walked in. Nothing was marked to let you know the price or type of cookies/pies. I hot in line & when it was my turn the salesperson abruptly asked what i wanted. I told her it was my 1st time there & how did things work? She didn't reply. I hurried through ordering a dozen cookies. The next set of cases had pastries, pies .. you name it. She had begun to ring me out when I asked what the pies were. She was disgusted and someone else stepped in to help me but by that time I was fed up with the attitude. I had a few parties to go to & would have purchased more than 12 cookies & 2 pastry.
