You can tell a lot of care went into making it both beautiful and livable. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the setting. Waking up to open fields, wildflowers, and animals nearby, and then winding down under a sky full of stars--it felt peaceful in a way that's hard to find. It was the kind of place that gently pushes you out of your comfort zone in a safe and meaningful way, and those are the experiences that stick. There were also a few thoughtful touches and moments during our stay that made it feel even more special and memorable. It created some true core memories for my kids--those little unexpected experiences that you don't forget. The caretakers were absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and took extra time to make sure we were comfortable. You can feel how much they care about the space, the animals, and the people who visit. This isn't a typical stay--it's something much more intentional. It feels like a place where the land and animals are genuinely cared for, and you're invited to be part of that, even if just for a short time. We will absolutely be back, and are already looking forward to trying some of the other spaces on the property next time.

The carriage house we stayed in wasn't as clean as the pictures on the site when you book it. Seems a little more run down. The inside is fine, obviously small but has amenities you need. The grill they have was very rusted and in my opinion not safe at all. If you have it on your site to have to use then maybe one that isn't rusted through and spill's charcoal all over the ground. This house also is in the hub of the area with animals and the food barn- we had a number of people try to open the door so I wish they had a sign on the front stoop stating it's a cabin! My other issue is with this cabin that isn't told is that a worker or people on the property will open the side (right side pictured) and there is laundry I assume or something they use as storage- it was NOT ok on a Saturday when we are sleeping for someone to start going in there and banging around at 6:30 in the morning!! Like come on! It should've been an appropriate time after 8 or at least a text from them letting us know! Woke my kiddo up and you can hear everything since the house is old! Overall the experience was fine but definitely wish they would be more honest on pictures and site. The other properties on the grounds look more well kept so maybe we would try those.

The only issue I had was not getting everything in writing, so make sure you specifically get everything in writing so you can look back on it if there are any miscommunications. We were told we would have a rehearsal the Friday before the wedding (the wedding was on the following sunday). We were also told we could decorate after the rehearsal was over because no one was going to be in the room. On friday we called to confirm the time which was 7pm. They said they did not have a rehearsal scheduled for us and that we could not come to decorate because Firemen were having a meeting in there at the time. This was the first thing I wished I had in writing, because I know we had confirmed for that previously. After this we had to arrange for everyone to come in early on Sunday so we could still decorate and do a quick rehearsal. When we were going over the contract Royal who is their event planner said that we could stay until 8pm. When we got there suddenly it had changed to 7. He ended up later allowing us to stay until 7:30 because I think he realized he had messed a few things up for us with the rehearsal and all. We were also told by him that he had a bar tender for us and 2 servers. He ended up being the bar tender and we only ended up having one server. All and all it all worked out in the end. The decor was beautiful in the church. I was pretty relaxed for a bride so I didn't have a huge freakout or anything, but I am sure some people in the same situation would. If you are looking for a nice venue, with affordable accommodations where you have a lot of availability to provide your own things such as decor, music, food, alcohol ect. this is a good place for you. Just please do not make my mistake, whatever they offer you get it in writing! We are also pretty sure we paid the bar tender fee twice because during the contract signing we had paid for everything we agreed to, then once the wedding was wrapping up my husband was told he didn't pay the 150 bar tender fee. Side note, check their hours because it was hard to reach them over the phone when we needed something. We had to call multiple times to even schedule to make payment for our wedding.

I toured the place and learned of it's history, which is pretty interesting. The place was built during the Great Depression as part of the National Youth Administration. Over 300 TWU students participated in its building and creation, even making the stained glass windows that adorn this architectural piece. It was named one of Texas' most outstanding architectural achievements. Ironically it was even designed by a Denton resident who is also a nationally recognized architect, O'Neil Ford. Now you ready for the coolest face? This place was dedicated and opened on November 1, 1939 by none other than First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, right here in Denton, Texas!

One downfall is there is only ONE bathroom which to me is an issue. When you have 50-150 people there an there is one bathroom an people have to wait for it that's no go for me. Second downfall for me is that I'm disabled an trying to walk from parking lot to the sidewalk is rough, all the little stones makes walking with a cane difficult. The groomsmen played card games and had a wonderful time there.. Its a bunkhous that is just a few yards away from the mail house.. 3. The main house.. DROP dead gorgeous and we had 50 people for the rehersal dinner! I am not a hunter, but they included a hunt for the groomsmen and their man friends..I enjoyed watching the dogs work..What a beautiful afternoon..and the hunters came home with a LOT of QUAIL! 5. NEW wedding Chapel was just completed and is just so so beautiful.. We had 130 guest and it was plenty of room for dancing and all the tables food and buffet set up! 6. The staff... although I was dubious at first as I only saw one sweetheart of a lady.. She was amazing and was so very accommodating! I just loved her..She was very special and so caring..She is truly a treasure! 7. The nature- not much decor needed here.. this place is on a lot of acreage and the chapel faces sunset.. so the natural beauty is peaceful and just lovely.. All I can say is this place is wonderful and offers so much for the dollar.. Our older guests were comfy sitting by the fire in the main house and drinking wine ,while the young kept the party going on late into the night.My daughter described it as a dream wedding! They opted to get married underneath this enormous oak tree, there are several other ceremony spots too. They have a lit area under the trees for cocktail hour and the reception took place inside the barn. It's everything you'd want in a barn wedding, wood details, barn doors, antique furniture. They have a bridal suite upstairs in the barn and a separate grooms house a little bit of a ways from the barn. It's a little bit out there in the middle of nowhere but it's worth the drive!
