Waking up to open fields, wildflowers, and animals nearby, and then winding down under a sky full of stars--it felt peaceful in a way that's hard to find. It was the kind of place that gently pushes you out of your comfort zone in a safe and meaningful way, and those are the experiences that stick. There were also a few thoughtful touches and moments during our stay that made it feel even more special and memorable. It created some true core memories for my kids--those little unexpected experiences that you don't forget. The caretakers were absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and took extra time to make sure we were comfortable. You can feel how much they care about the space, the animals, and the people who visit. This isn't a typical stay--it's something much more intentional. It feels like a place where the land and animals are genuinely cared for, and you're invited to be part of that, even if just for a short time. Ordinarily, there is a breakfast bar that was not functioning during the pandemic. The bucolic environment was very relaxing and we appreciated the time away from the hustle and bustle. There were some problems with our Airstream. The inside smelled musty and the sheets had some weird odor. We were there in October and it got cold at night but there was no heat so we froze during the night. There were no blankets. The "kitchen" was not very well equipped, lacking even a bottle opener. So, we enjoyed our time but it would have been better if the Airstream had been better maintained and equipped.

It is an absolute dream of a venue. The chapel is so perfect and all white with beautiful open windows and perfect light. The reception hall is huge and so open and well lit. The rooms for the bridesmaids and groomsmen are so beautiful and open. As a photographer I was blown away by how many perfect photography spots there were. I could not think of a better place for a wedding. Plus, there are little cows surrounding the property that are just the cherry on top.

The only issue I had was not getting everything in writing, so make sure you specifically get everything in writing so you can look back on it if there are any miscommunications. We were told we would have a rehearsal the Friday before the wedding (the wedding was on the following sunday). We were also told we could decorate after the rehearsal was over because no one was going to be in the room. On friday we called to confirm the time which was 7pm. They said they did not have a rehearsal scheduled for us and that we could not come to decorate because Firemen were having a meeting in there at the time. This was the first thing I wished I had in writing, because I know we had confirmed for that previously. After this we had to arrange for everyone to come in early on Sunday so we could still decorate and do a quick rehearsal. When we were going over the contract Royal who is their event planner said that we could stay until 8pm. When we got there suddenly it had changed to 7. He ended up later allowing us to stay until 7:30 because I think he realized he had messed a few things up for us with the rehearsal and all. We were also told by him that he had a bar tender for us and 2 servers. He ended up being the bar tender and we only ended up having one server. All and all it all worked out in the end. The decor was beautiful in the church. I was pretty relaxed for a bride so I didn't have a huge freakout or anything, but I am sure some people in the same situation would. If you are looking for a nice venue, with affordable accommodations where you have a lot of availability to provide your own things such as decor, music, food, alcohol ect. this is a good place for you. Just please do not make my mistake, whatever they offer you get it in writing! We are also pretty sure we paid the bar tender fee twice because during the contract signing we had paid for everything we agreed to, then once the wedding was wrapping up my husband was told he didn't pay the 150 bar tender fee. Side note, check their hours because it was hard to reach them over the phone when we needed something. We had to call multiple times to even schedule to make payment for our wedding.

I toured the place and learned of it's history, which is pretty interesting. The place was built during the Great Depression as part of the National Youth Administration. Over 300 TWU students participated in its building and creation, even making the stained glass windows that adorn this architectural piece. It was named one of Texas' most outstanding architectural achievements. Ironically it was even designed by a Denton resident who is also a nationally recognized architect, O'Neil Ford. Now you ready for the coolest face? This place was dedicated and opened on November 1, 1939 by none other than First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, right here in Denton, Texas!

One downfall is there is only ONE bathroom which to me is an issue. When you have 50-150 people there an there is one bathroom an people have to wait for it that's no go for me. Second downfall for me is that I'm disabled an trying to walk from parking lot to the sidewalk is rough, all the little stones makes walking with a cane difficult. DROP dead gorgeous and we had 50 people for the rehersal dinner! Big cozy fireplace and an intimate gathering made everyone toast and tell wonderful stories about the bride and groom.. 4.OMG they have beautiful working hunting doggies! I am not a hunter, but they included a hunt for the groomsmen and their man friends..I enjoyed watching the dogs work..What a beautiful afternoon..and the hunters came home with a LOT of QUAIL! 5. NEW wedding Chapel was just completed and is just so so beautiful.. We had 130 guest and it was plenty of room for dancing and all the tables food and buffet set up! 6. The staff... although I was dubious at first as I only saw one sweetheart of a lady.. She was amazing and was so very accommodating! I just loved her..She was very special and so caring..She is truly a treasure! 7. The nature- not much decor needed here.. this place is on a lot of acreage and the chapel faces sunset.. so the natural beauty is peaceful and just lovely.. All I can say is this place is wonderful and offers so much for the dollar.. Our older guests were comfy sitting by the fire in the main house and drinking wine ,while the young kept the party going on late into the night.My daughter described it as a dream wedding! They opted to get married underneath this enormous oak tree, there are several other ceremony spots too. They have a lit area under the trees for cocktail hour and the reception took place inside the barn. It's everything you'd want in a barn wedding, wood details, barn doors, antique furniture. They have a bridal suite upstairs in the barn and a separate grooms house a little bit of a ways from the barn. It's a little bit out there in the middle of nowhere but it's worth the drive!
