The venue…read moreitself is stunning--peaceful, warm, and naturally beautiful in a way that doesn't need (or want) a bunch of over-the-top extras. But what made it truly unforgettable was Rachel and her incredible team. From the very beginning, Rachel made everything feel easy. She's organized, intuitive, calm, and somehow manages to be both laid-back and on top of every detail. I never felt overwhelmed, never stressed. I fully trusted her, and that trust paid off a thousand times over. The florals were perfect--gorgeous but not fussy, exactly in tune with the setting and the vibe we'd envisioned. Her staff was so kind and attentive, and the whole event flowed effortlessly thanks to their care and presence. Guests kept commenting on how beautiful everything was, but also how relaxed and fun the day felt. There was no pretense or pressure--just love, laughter, tacos (SO GOOD), and pure joy. Rachel also helped us source our hair and makeup artist (who was amazing), our dessert vendor (adorable and delicious), and even supported our late-night In-N-Out plan. She managed every piece of the puzzle with grace and humor, and made sure we got to actually enjoy our wedding day. (Which we did. Fully. With Palomas. And a piano man. And guacamole on my dress.) We've joked with our guests about making this an annual thing, and honestly? We might not be joking. Yokayo is that special. And if you're lucky enough to have Rachel by your side, you're in very good hands.

Such a beautiful property and venue and the staff are super friendly. Can't wait to go back!!read more

It's made an amazing recovery and the new lodge is gorgeous and wonderful. I love Four Springs for retreats because the staff is wonderful, the accommodations are comfy and the setting is just gorgeous. It's back up the mountain so as to make it perfectly peaceful but not so far as to make it an ordeal to get there. Trust me, I know about remote retreats. Tassajara comes to mind. No narrow gravel road over a steep mountain pass necessitating 4WD. Love Tassajara but sometimes it's nice to be some where easier to get to. Four Springs is it. They always have great meals and very interesting seminars if you are into that. I would have my corporate Team Builder at Four Springs in a heart beat if I needed to. Their retreats and seminars are wonderful. I was on a yoga retreat here once. It was great. Spacious quiet rooms. Not glitzy. Not glamorous. Just true California simplicity. You'll feel right at home here.

Tim was incredibly accommodating in letting us visit the site to workout all the pre-wedding details we needed. If you are looking for an outdoor wedding and guests are down for a rustic affair, this is the perfect location. To no fault of Tim, any of the staff or the location, we needed to change our wedding plans. Tim was incredibly helpful and accommodating in canceling our contract. Thankfully Four Springs also rents their cabins on airbnb. We look forward to being able to spend a weekend here and enjoying the beautiful atmosphere of the woods. The only reason this isn't a 5 star rating is because there were a few times that we didn't receive email responses quickly. He was much better by phone and I personally work better via email. So choose this venue but give him a call.

Each of the Guesthouses is impeccably decorated, cozy, and welcoming. From the beautiful redwood grove at The Trees to the incredible outdoor dining table at The Hills. Each house is uniquely dreamy, nestled in the picturesque town of Occidental. Barbara is truly the most wonderful, kind, and welcoming host. She attended to every single detail to ensure that our wedding day was perfect (even down to wiping off benches after the beautiful morning mist cleared). She is a dear friend and really makes every visit extraordinary. We know we will continue visiting for years to come. While you stay in Occidental, you MUST get food from the Union Hotel. Between visits, my husband and I dream about Garlic Gold pizza, carrot cake, and the best minestrone around. The pizza crust is to die for- fluffy and just the right balance of perfectly browned. The slice of carrot cake is literally larger than my hand and maybe even forearm! Super rich and velvety cream cheese frosting- amazing! We have visited Occidental once during COVID and the Union has an excellent picnic style menu. The food is ordered outside and nicely packaged for take-out or eating at a table in their distanced outdoor area. As someone who has strictly adhered to distancing and other protocols, I felt safe and comfortable! Highest praise for the Occidental Guesthouses and Union Hotel! A must visit for anyone who loves cozy accommodations, excellent food, and the most welcoming environment.

I booked an artstay but was so turned off by the road in and lies about the property I left without checking in... not that I could find the location for that. No cell service driving from Willits. Markers don't match their directions or picturesque descriptions. Long way from nowhere. Lots of splits on the roads. Kind of scary place to get lost. I don't trust people who lie. Ramshackle employee housing. Dead lower vineyard. Deliverance til you get up close to the farmhouse. Decided not to give it an overnight. The drive in looked nothing like the website photos. Made me wonder again about the no food in "cabins" cuz of supposed bears sighting thing. How is it you have bears with 2 penned cows, ostriches, and chickens? Probably more like vermin. (Isn't this suppose to be a 60 acre working farm? 2 penned cows???) This place is one lie after another. Told the owner I was like looking for a refund and she said ok, I could look for it. Seriously?

Daily schedule: wake up, head to the dining room for a delicious group breakfast, sit around in the sun reading and chatting (kids play in the barn and fields, help feed the animals, play games, etc.), then go back into the dining room for a delicious lunch (or sometimes they pack a lunch to go). Then everyone either heads down to the river or goes on a hike (and ends up at the river), then comes back up in time for dinner. The day ends with a camper-initiated campfire, complete with s'mores. In short: wake up, eat great food, sit around, eat great food, enjoy the outdoors, eat great food, sit by the fire, and go to bed. It's the ultimate in relaxation (there's no cell service) and family bonding. We're all so grateful that Tammy has kept the place going all these years (though some great traditions have been lost since I was a kid there).

Further, the owners or property manager scheduled a maintenance worker during our stay that cut off power one morning. We came here for a family reunion and spent most of our time at another rental home as this home fell short of our needs and expectations. Immediately following our stay, without any notice, the owner cashed our deposit check, erroneously claiming we broke the motor on his jacuzzi. We departed 4/19/14 and he cashed our $500.00 deposit check on 4/22/14, with no contact. He alleged we left the cover off the jacuzzi causing the water to produce "sludge" that disabled the motor. This is 100% untrue!!! We have several witnesses that can verify when we exited the property, we complied fully with all written instructions and the jacuzzi was intact with the lid as we found it upon arrival. The owner has not returned our phone calls or emails and is being deliberately evasive. We are now forced to sue this unethical homeowner in small claims court to recover the monies stolen from us. We would NOT RECOMMEND this property or any other offered by this homeowner through Duff Vacation Rentals, VRBO, or HomeAway.
