We absolutely LOVED our 3 night stay at The Bungalows at Calistoga! This is a family owned boutique hotel with a passion to provide their guests with an experience of warmth, spaciousness, comfort, and relaxation. It does that and so much more! We stayed in Bungalow B and love that each of the three bungalows is uniquely designed and decorated. Bea was such an amazing host and we absoletely loved our experience staying here! The Bungalows at Calistoga are located in an excellent location and just a short walk to downtown Calistoga. The room had a fridge, stove, and oven and the kitchen was fully stocked. The bungalow even had a washer and dryer! You are a very short walking distance away from the local market, CalMart, if you want to grab something pre-made to have for dinner. Being that you are in walking distance to downtown Calistoga, you are in a great location to enjoy the restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and shops in wine country. We are grateful that we found this gem in Calistoga since it is the perfect getaway! We loved our stay and can't wait to come back soon!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience!…read more The boyfriend and I wanted to have a romantic getaway in Napa Valley and chose to stay in Calistoga. With some research we found Chien Blanc Bungalows, a part of NapaVacationHomes.com rentals. Pros - Chelsea, who booked our stay, was very communicative through email with our reservation and provided detailed check in and check out requirements for the rental. - Upon arriving there was plenty of parking in front of the rental and our bungalow was easy to find. We stayed in the Avignon Bungalow. - The Avignon Bungalow was very homey and comfortable (they recently updated the interiors of their bungalows so disregard previous pictures and reviews). I love that we had a kitchen to cook and to store any wine or food that we may be eating or drinking. The mini vanity was my favorite! - As the weather warmed up, we were able to enjoy the gardens on site as well as the outdoor furniture. It was uber romantic! - Love the option of the community room, however, we weren't able to use it during our stay. - Also LOVED the option to pre-order wine for our stay. I loved walking into our bungalow to a bottle of wine that me and my boyfriend can enjoy while we take it all in. Make sure to get the Chelsea Vineyards wine! It's one of their own and you can't get it elsewhere! - While the owners of the bungalows were pretty hands off, which is what we wanted, Chelsea was open to suggesting restaurants and wineries to try which was super helpful. FYI-Calistoga offers a shuttle which picks you up and it's only for a buck!!!! - Last but not least, Location! Location! Location! I can't stress how awesome it was to stay at Chien Blanc Bungalows!! No more than two blocks were many restaurants, coffee shops, stores, a grocery store, and most importantly, winetasting rooms! We didn't have to get into the car to drive anywhere and we didn't have to risk drinking and driving! Cons - I own an iPhone 5s, I know it's a dinosaur. So please disregard my crummy photos as they don't do any justice for Avignon. - We couldn't stay an extra day. I recommend that your stay be at least three days. Two days just wasn't enough for us. - That I didn't get proposed to. (hahaha, no pressure!) All in all, I highly recommend Chien Blanc Bungalows!! We will be back! (in the Arnold voice)

What a cool place to stay in while in Napa valley!…read more Calistoga is a small, charming town full of restaurants and shops to explore. Not to mention, there are many nearby wineries! The Chien Blanc Bungalows are also within walking distance to the main street of town. There are three bungalows and we stayed in the Avignon bungalow. It had a cool red living room and a 1940's kitchen. While a bit outdated, it definitely adds to the charm and my dad had fun figuring out how to light the stove. The bungalow contains one bedroom and the couch in the living room has a pull-out trundle underneath. Both beds can comfortably sleep 2 people each. There's also a game room, but not in the modern sense. It is a cool space though with board games, videos, and tv, darts on the wall, and a pool table. This place also has a great grill for use and my dad enjoyed cooking steaks and hamburgers for dinner. There's a market in town "Cal Mart" that is a two block walk away where you can find food to cook. Otherwise, those restaurants on the main street are also within walking distance. Cute and convenient place!

There were 8 adults and 2 kids which was the perfect number for the rooms. The house had some really beautiful features such as a stained glass window and a large metal chandelier. The kitchen was a bit small to prepare meals for a large family and really couldn't comfortably accommodate more than a couple of people cooking. We tried to use the gas grill but found the condition so moldy that we gave up and used the oven instead. It was quite well equipped, however, and had tons of dishes available. The largest bathroom was a bit dark which made it difficult to use the shower. One of the beds upstairs was also really squeaky. The couches in the living room were really soft and comfortable. The tv was a little small if you were sitting on the far couch but it had cable and a Roku for streaming. There was also a beautifully decorated Christmas tree set up here. Out back, there was a hot tub in a lovely gazebo lit up with string lights. There was plenty of parking for about 5 cars also next to there. This place is located just a few blocks away from downtown and we were able to walk there a couple of times for dinner and shopping. The manager and owners were really great! They were super responsive to any questions and issues we had.

The kitchen was well equiped, and it was a nice stroll to get into downtown. Communication with the owners was difficult at best which is why i give this place the 4 star rating. Besides them not getting back to us via email, they also had a crazy policy where they do not accept credit cards which is not stated on their website and a friend of mine said they have in the past. If we are spending that amount of $$ we should be able to get some kind of perk by putting it on a card. If you don't mind paying with a check or cash, this place is adorable and fit all of our needs.

Because of that history, I never expected to be treated this way. We experienced a genuine family emergency that forced us to leave early and requested a refund for our unused Sunday and Monday nights. These were weekday nights not a weekend or holiday, and the hotel kept 100% of the charges for both nights despite us not being there. What made the situation even worse was the amount of time we had to spend going back and forth during an already stressful family emergency. The front desk staff repeatedly told us they understood and agreed a refund was appropriate, but the owner instructed them not to issue one. For several days, staff members seemed confused about the situation, while the owner/manager refused to respond to phone calls or text messages. We were left waiting, following up repeatedly, and receiving no direct communication from the person making the decision. I understand businesses have cancellation policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable discretion, especially for LOYAL, repeat guests who have spent thousands of dollars over the years and have personally referred many others to stay here. Unfortunately, this experience erased years of goodwill. Customer service is tested when something unexpected happens, and this hotel failed that test. We will NEVER stay here again, and after this experience, I can no longer recommend it to friends, family, or clients. What a HUGE disappointment Cottage Grove. Not the way you treat your loyal customers.

Here is my run down on the place: Check-In: (4 Stars) very nice at the front desk, but found out later they had wine tasting from check in at 4 to 5pm. Why not offer a glass? I came to find out that the wine taster never showed. Customer Service Texting: Love that they have CS texting, they are very responsive and informative about things going on including how to check out. Room: (4 Stars) Bed: comfortable, good quality, high off the ground Pillows: 2 per person Night Stands: Space for tech and water, both sides had USB plugs Bed Lightning: individual reading lights on each side of the bed Extra Seating: 2 chairs and small table Mini fridge: plenty of room for your stuff Outside bathroom mirrors: full length on the closet door The in-room AC unit was very loud and doesn't turn off automatically after the temperature is reached. Bathroom: (4 Stars) Toilet didn't have its own closet (removed 1 star), slow close seat was nice, but no fan. Walk in Shower with plenty of room. Great water pressure, shower head on the wall, no water fall which is good, no shower wand but still good shower Sink: only 1, counter space limited for 2 people. Only 1 towel rack holder and a hook. Make up Mirror was nice No tub which is fine for this type of room Closet: (4 Stars) No Iron or iron board but they have seamer Hooks: none Hangers: plenty, good quality, some men's and regular plus 2 ladies. Robes: good quality, full length, no slippers Umbrellas,Flash light, small camping lantern, nice touch Maid Service: (4 Stars) no issues View: (4 Stars) nice gardens, well maintained, with a rock feature fountain up the hill Outdoor Amenities: (5 Stars) Pool: one very large natural spring water heated pool and an adult pool that's a little cooler Pool bar: water station, food, snacks, cocktail That's it, enjoy your stay...

The posted House Rules are sensible, but enforcement is inconsistent. Pool manager Claire frequently singles us out (phone use today, our daughter with pool noodles, snacks/drinks placement) while other kids build slides out of floats and noodles. She also overlooks shouting, rough play, and other prohibited behaviors. Other staff don't enforce these rules. We support fair rules for everyone's comfort and safety. When applied unevenly by one person, it detracts from the relaxing experience. We hope management retrains the team on consistent enforcement and hospitality so we can continue visiting regularly. Otherwise, we may need to try alternatives like Solage. Thank you for addressing this. -- Andrei R., repeat guest

When we first arrived, we drove through a bridge and then we were surrounded by planted gardens and fruit trees with a few chairs and tables spaced apart. We called Kurt and he came right away to help us, directed us to a good parking spot, and then showed us around. We arrived around 10:00AM and it was still quiet with only one other couple by the pool. Kurt showed us where the switches for the hot tub jets were, the switch for the sauna, towels, bathroom, water, etc. The rest of the day was extremely relaxing. People slowly trickled in and seemed to hit peak occupancy around 1:00PM. There were beautiful views of the hillside and trees. Everything clean and neat. Plentiful umbrellas for shade. A quiet atmosphere with friendly conversations. There were always lounge chairs to choose from. I loved the layout of the place. The pool, hot tub, and sauna were all spacious and never felt crowded. Around 6:00PM the pool area starts emptying out, and weather quickly gets cooler. I'd recommend bringing a cooler with drinks and snacks to maximize your relaxation time. An amazing place to be and we'll definitely be back whenever we need to let go of any stress.

The marketing for this place is really well done, pictures show a large courtyard, seating area to hang out, and big rooms, but unfortunately this was a little deceiving. Long of the short: This is an overpriced small but pleasant motel with cute rooms, newish steam and sauna and a mediocre spa and pool. Everything here is nice, but this is not upscale nor a "boutique" experience as advertised. I caution against paying-up for these rooms or expecting anything resort-like. This is simply a good, clean place when staying in Calistoga, and a short walk to the downtown area. If the rates were lower with accurate advertising I would be happy to stay here. The positives were the newish steam room and sauna, both are very clean and in great shape and with quality towels available. The pool and spa were clean, and both heated by the pumped in underground hot springs which is soothing, however in need of new tile and/or an update. Plastic lounge chairs and tables are on the pool deck. The rooms were updated with decent sheets, cute bathrooms and include a balcony or patio, albeit with cheap plastic chairs. Staff was pleasant and I loved the calm vibe, but please note (like in other reviews) that you need to request a room away from the main road if you are looking for a quiet rest, otherwise you will hear some traffic. Due to the overly inflated rates I would not stay here again, but if the prices reflected the property, it could be a decent vacation in the Calistoga area.
