This is one strange duck of a bar! To start, the entrance is pretty hard to find. It's not immediately obvious where you enter. But once you're inside, it is actually a large and inviting space. They have several pool tables on two levels. The regulars are a rowdy but fun group. It seems that the majority of folks who come in here know one another. But for the most part, they seemed pretty friendly to an outsider. There is not really a food menu to speak of here, although it does appear that they offer some microwavable items. They also have a popcorn machine with some fun popcorn topping flavors. Oh, and bags of peanuts in the shell behind the bar! Love that! The problem with this bar is the drinks! And really, isn't that what you go to a bar for in the first place? The drink prices are a little bit on the high side, and what's worse, they have one of those little alcohol gun things. I swear, that is how you know a bar is in trouble! Because of the computer system and the gun thingy, the bartender is unable to make more than one person's order at a time. So if I have a rum and coke and my friend has a rum and coke but we are on separate tabs, they can't be poured back-to-back! Not only does it keep your bartender from giving you a decent pour when you're a good tipper (which probably makes the owner happy but not so much the customer), it also keeps the bar from running smoothly! I would have knocked a bunch more stars off for this silly nonsense, but the bartender Greg had such a great personality he made all of it seem okay. He joked around with us and made the time pass by, so it didn't seem so ridiculous how long we had to wait for every round of drinks. I could see him working, it was just a stupid system hindering him! It baffles me that bar owners don't realize how penny-wise and pound-foolish that type of business decision is. Maybe it costs you a few more cents in a heavy pour for a good patron. But it cost you HUNDREDS of dollars to lose a patron for a lifetime because they (I) refuse to sit around waiting to have their drinks metered. To the owner: You guys have a really great bartender in Greg! Definitely keep him, but ditch that stupid alcohol meter system thing. And maybe throw in a couple of good drink specials! I found my way to G' Ducks after a colleague suggested we meet here for a business dinner. "What the heck do I care?" I thought, "It's going on the corporate card!" When I pulled up to the parking lot, admittedly, I was a little concerned about its location. It is situated in the back corner of a run-down strip mall, complete with Vietnamese fast food and a very shady liquor store. But since I trusted my colleague's judgment, I decided to take a step inside anyways. Upon stepping into this restaurant I was shocked to find it so upscale! Elegant chandeliers, marble floor, and a large mahogany bar complete with leather bar stools! As I was taking it all in I was promptly greeted by the very friendly Maître d' before being led to my colleague, who was already situated in a large corner booth. The wine steward was very attentive and suggested a rare bottle of French wine. This paired wonderfully with our appetizer which, unbeknownst to me, was the reason for the restaurant's name: Fois Gras! It turns out the Chef de Cuisine (Girard) is from France and happens to specialize in Duck preparations. My filet mignon came perfectly medium-rare, and the garlic mashed potatoes were nothing sort of heavenly! My colleague elected to order the 42 ounce porterhouse, and he seemed to thoroughly enjoy his meal. I was able to wash down my meal with a whimsical house specialty drink called "The roaring lion". Ah who am I kidding I had several... it was on the corporate card! Although for both of us we spent less than $60, not too shabby. G' Ducks is a hidden little unassuming gem where you can have a nice romantic dinner, an upscale night out with some friends, or a gourmet meal you will not forget. Erica was my bartender. She followed me out of bad after I tipped her way too much money and yelled "hey where's that glass?" I responded "what glass?" She proceeded to be rude and accuse me of walking out with a glass of liquor I just finished in front of her. She was sweating like a pig bc the AC broke down. I was not impressed after this whole situation and don't recommend dealing with this bar. If I'm paid $500 i might go back just to see how she acts again bc she seems wasted sweaty and out of it. Again not impressed with her social skills after ordering 2 drinks all night then being accused of walking out with a glass. My tab was $20 read more

Everyone here is happy every hour of the day in part due to the low prices of the drinks which G'ducks is undoubtedly able to offer from strong negation with their alcohol distributor or large quantity discount purchases. Tired of waiting at bars with only a single billiards table? G'ducks appeases their crowd with two pool tables for old friends to laugh and share stories around while shooting some 9-ball. Quantum physicists argue that at the most basic level of the Universe, we are all One. While much scholarly debate takes place around this theory, one unarguable fact is that those who are within the walls of G'ducks are indeed all Family. G'ducks stands as a beacon of freedom and hope tucked gently into the corner of the shopping center at the corner of Hampden and Chambers. It is a flicker of a light in a world of darkness and cruelty. Any visit to South Central A-town (Aurora for the non-Natives) would be remiss without a saunter into this hidden gem that sits humbly in its part of the city. My husband and I are looking for a new bar to hang out in so we went here. Mistake! It smelled bad, no real bad! I held my pee until we went somewhere else because the bathroom was that bad! I went in tonight for a quick drink on my way home and it was by far the worst experience at a bar that I have ever had 100% due to the gal behind the bar. I came inside to karaoke night and walked up to the bar. The blonde bartender told me she would be right with me then she went to go hug a bunch of regulars before coming back to her job. After waiting patiently I finally ordered my drink and she carded me. Once I handed her my ID she began acting disgusted and began continuously mocking me for my old drivers license photo, a picture of me with long dyed hair from over 15 years ago. She kept on saying "that's not you. That ain't you. Ew." I politely told her if you think it's not me that's fine I'll go (no big deal, right?) the mocking continued. I have a heavy smile in the photo so she tells me to smile. When I did for her she gave me a harsh and disgusted look and demeanor. Still not convinced it was me she continued to make me jump through hoops for my drink by quizzing me on my address. Not convinced, she shows the regular next to me my ID but he is too over-served to give a cognitive answer. Still not convinced she puts two more of her cents in and tells me "that's dark hair in the photo and you're a redhead. This isn't you." I ask her if she's a natural blonde, implying that my hair was dyed. She assures me that she is although her roots tell me otherwise. At this point I was ready to walk out but she finally hands me back my ID and exclaims "what do you want", which I had already ordered before presenting her with my ID. Then she tells me the entire time while making my drink, "get a new fucking ID" I tell her that I have been meaning to but it has been hard with Covid and she tells me "don't give me that shit, Covid is over. I've gotten a lot done lately and Covid is over, Covid is over so go get a new fucking ID". Before she could even ring my card through I finished my drink. Not sure what was wrong with that gal but I believe she was possibly drinking on the job. My spouse is a bar manager and even agrees that the woman was being cunty to me for no reason. I paid my tab, still tipped her 40% and left that place never to return again. Someone should really take the time to creat an action plan and coach her on her social skills and interacting with new clients. Thanks for reading, the end. read more
