I was running errands and decided to stop here for a wash. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The person at the kiosk was fine; he asked if I wanted a monthly plan or if I wanted more information but wasn't pushy -- a huge plus in my book, as I find many car washes to be at best annoying and at worst fraudulent when it comes to trying to force you into a monthly plan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The woman working at the wash entrance was great and paid a lot of attention to the front and rear of my vehicle, and her instructions were clear and friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wash itself wasn't great; I had suds dripping from my vehicle upon exiting and soap spots on my car once it dried. The self-service bags were lacking, too. Of the three vacuums around my vehicle, one wasn't working at all, another stopped working, and the third had weak suction. The mat washing station said on the station itself that it was for carpet mats only while a large sign next to it said it was for rubber and carpet mats; regardless of what it's actually for, it wasn't working. A woman who came over and tried to use it said she came regularly and it hadn't been working for awhile. (Maybe the sign is an indicator that they're going to be replacing it?) There are microfiber cloths and cleaning chemicals available, which is a rarity these days. However, most of the bottles were empty. And a heads up that getting to the cleaning stations requires stepping over the vacuum hoses, which could lead to a fall if you're not paying attention, so be aware of that if you stop by. read more

Whistle Express Car Wash - The mat cleaner and accompanying signage - Car Wash Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

I've been a Whistle Express car wash member off and on for a few years now, regularly going to these car washes every few days. When I first started using them (over on University when I lived there), they had very good vacuums, car cleaner, and extremely friendly workers. Since moving to the Southside, I've been using this relatively new Whistle Express. I'm not sure if it's been a change in ownership or perhaps CEO cutbacks, but the quality of this chain has deteriorated quite a bit. It began with the all-purpose cleaner, which used to be good. They've since diluted it or added water to the point that it seems more like glorified water with a pittance of cleaner essence than an actual all purpose cleaner solution. The glass window washing solution isn't much better. Beyond this, the tire shine seems skimped out, also. Whereas before I could see it thoroughly used on my tires, I see barely any showing up for me to buffer. In addition to this, they've raised their rates. When I go through the lines, half the time they have one of the lanes closed. In addition, the entire backside parking lot area facing the Circle-K has none of the cleaning supplies. At the University location, there is cleaning supplies for every parking lot row, save for the one closest to the road, which rarely if ever gets used. At this location, customers regularly use both sides - in fact, half the time you're forced to use the outside row because it's that busy. Overall, it seems like they're either lazy here or upper management has become cheap, greedy, or both. Beyond this, when I last went to this location, the tire buffer spit a bunch of their tire buffer all over the side of my car near the tire. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I approached the worker (who ended up being the manager) about this, he made excuses for this.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My entire discussion with this man told me that this location has a lot to work on, including management. I almost wish that I could have the University site move here. I'm very disappointed with this location in almost every respect. read more

I've used Whistle Car Wash several times and generally had a decent experience (3-4 stars). Unfortunately, that wasn't the case on 10/12/25. Based on this visit, I can't recommend them. I purchased a one-time wash and was advised there might be a short delay due to equipment issues. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff was incredibly courteous and professional throughout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, a vehicle became stuck in the wash tunnel, causing service to stop completely. After waiting about 10 minutes, the attendant apologized and explained that the owner had been contacted but would need to resolve the issue personally. He offered a complimentary future wash, which I appreciated, but I preferred a refund since I couldn't stay due to other commitments in the afternoon. Unfortunately, no one onsite was authorized to issue one. I returned later as instructed as to when the owner may be available, but he never arrived, and staff still couldn't process a refund. To be clear, the employees handled the situation with professionalism and patience despite clear frustration from other customers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My concern lies with the lack of management response and accountability. When issues arise, customers deserve timely communication and resolution. The owner failed not only its customers, but his staff as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That's bad business. My second car has a monthly subscription. I will be canceling it. read more

Usually does a good job. I even bought a monthly membership March 1st. Go today March 5th for my 3rd visit and it's closed. Not a soul to be seen. Sunny skies and within scheduled hours. Great automated carwash. The attendant bug preps and brushes off the dead bugs off your car before you enter the tunnel. Detail rags and basic supplies are provided at no charge; compressed air and vacuums are super helpful. I used to go to a competitor and decided to try Whistle; whereas not cheaper; I feel I'm getting more bang for my buck here. read more

NO- DON'T GO! HUGE RED FLAGS!!! No accountability, poor machinery, poor management, frequent interruptions in service. Kiosk is a complete shit show. The whole business model is broken- and while they have no issues taking your money, using all your information for their marketing purposes... it's a very one sided business partnership. I love Whistle Express Car Wash at 5109 University Blvd., W., Jacksonville, FL 32216. I've been coming here since they opened. The car wash cleans and shines my car perfectly. Enjoy that they provide towels, window cleaner, all purpose cleaner and vacuums for when the car comes out of the wash. It's very convenient to have all of this at your finger tips. All of the staff are kind and willing to assist you if needed. Their specials are worth the time and money. read more

Cleaning packages at the kiosk are well defined and reasonably priced. Took the "Best" package. My white GMC Yukon with recent Christmas travel and New Year's camping trip dirt came out squeaky clean. Went to the self service vacuum area and was extremely pleased with the complimentary availability of moist microfiber towels, window cleaner and general cleaner along with the standard self vacuuming availability. Vacuum was strong but the length of the hose is insufficient given the angled parking, but you can get the job done. The moist microfiber towels allow you to really get a fantastic exterior wipe down and interior cleaning. The availability of complimentary cleaning towels and solvents went away with most self service carwashes during COVID and has not come back to most car washes. This place definitely is in a league by itself. Strongly recommend. read more

I went for the free car wash promotion they were running for the grand opening on my way to Walmart on Phillips Hwy. I didn't look at my car closely when I got through the wash (mistake), assuming it was a new car wash my car would be clean, right? and I was in a hurry. I went ahead and paid for their promotional 3-month $10/mo all-you-can-wash program. I proceeded to drive off to Walmart. About 1 mile down the road the car lurched, then a few hundred feet away from that died completely. Fortunately, I was on the median and could pull over and didn't break down in the lane (which could have resulted in an accident). I was also just at the turn-in for Walmart and after a few minutes tried to start the car and was able to drive into the Walmart parking lot. There is something wrong with the car, it is riding rough as if there is something loose in the car's undercarriage and the engine is off. I ended up calling a tow truck to get me home. I have to have a mechanic come and check the car out and see what happened to it. My regular mechanic is out of commission and now I have to find a reputable mechanic who won't rip me off to check for damage. I have lost the weekend already and am not sure when it will be safe to drive the car, how much it will cost, or what kind of damage was done to it. DO NOT GO TO THIS CAR WASH! It will tear up your car! Their receipt does not have a phone number on it and so I can't even contact them to talk about this issue. Once I get my car back on the road I am going back to the car wash with the repair bill (and am definitely canceling the subscription and getting a refund for THAT) and complaining about the damages ....
