Located just off the Erwin highway, it's easy to find. There is a small sign at the road entrance, but the two red buildings are easier to see. The one closest to the road is the covered eating area with the other being the deli. Parking is on a half paved, half gravel lot in front of the buildings. The parking spaces are not marked and I did not see a designated handicapped space. There is a nice ramp going into the deli to make entering easier. Walking in, the ordering counter is directly in front. There is a meat and cheese cooler to the left and a pie/ cake cooler (which also holds the drinks) to the right. This area is small so can get crowded. The only menu on the wall was for the meat and cheese deli items. The prepared foodi menu is on the ordering counter, although they seem to prefer you order ahead by calling or online. There is also a small sign on the counter with the daily special. I was greeted as soon as I entered and my order taken right away. The Reuben sandwich and fries took about 10 minutes to make. The sandwich was well-wrapped separately from the fries. Everything stayed hot for the short drive home. The Reuben ($9.49) was very nice. The marble rye was grilled with plentiful sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and cheese. I would have preferred more meat as it did get lost in all the other ingredients. I tried a French fry as soon as I entered my vehicle and found they were not crispy on the outside. The fries ($3.99) were fine and were fully cooked, but I prefer them crispy on the outside. The cash price was $14.25 and was certainly a filling and good meal. Their sandwich menu has several interesting options and the cakes and pies looked delicious. The Whistle Stop is worthy of a stop. read more

I love this deli. Oh my gosh, the homemade desserts! I usually go on Wednesday. I love steak and gravy and Wanda's is excellent. The sandwiches, Wraps, Daily specials and BBQ ( on Saturday) are all above average. I think I will go today. read more

What a little gem tucked away. Excellent food, more options than I thought (for a deli), made fresh and with amazing service (e.g. walked our food to us under an umbrella). Stopped here today after a walk on the beautiful Erwin Linear Trail. I had a chicken salad sandwich on wheat and it was truly delicious. My cousin got the fried green tomato and bacon and she loved it. Great job, Whistle Stop!!! read more

Famous for their fresh baked pies and breads as well as their sandwiches and a couple of hot plates. Owner operated, friendly prompt service. They have the best food for miles around. read more

This place is 100 percent awesome its a real old school Delhi with a good Amish flare to it with lots of real Amish food products it's extremely well run the lady that owns the place is always here she makes amazing pies cakes and pastries as well and it's got a fun outdoor seating area in the sandwiches are just utterly amazing I always find a reason to stop by this place when I'm driving down the interstate you can take the unicorn exit off of exit off of I 26 in Tennessee and just take a left and you'll see the place down the road about a mile it's awesome and well worth a break from the read more

I've eaten here a few times before and enjoyed it. I always get the philly cheesesteak. At my last visit, it was evident that the service and quality of the food had gone downhill. My sandwich took forever to get ready- 20 minutes is crazy for a sandwich at a deli. Additionally, the sandwich was on cold stale bread and the meat contained so much gristle that I ended up spitting out several bites that I couldn't chew through. I won't be returning. read more

Great find in a small town. Lots of great sandwiches, all freshly and lovingly made with high quality ingredients and freshly baked bread. There are daily specials and soups that looked great but I didn't try any of those. Then there are the baked goods. All made in house and to die for! I tried a fried pie and it was fantastic, my friend had the eclairs and I'd swear that she swooned. The place is immaculately clean, I'd swear that you could probably eat off of the floor. I have heard of the Whistle Stop for several years now, and finally had a chance to try it. It is like the sandwich places I grew up with, order at the counter and wait. Do not expect to get your food quickly, but it truly is worth the wait. The staff is friendly making sure you are happy. The Philly Cheesesteak, was great, it was real steak, not processed. The Chicken tostada was full of flavor, made with fresh ingredients. The desserts looked great, but with all the food we consumed we settled for the peanut butter balls. This place is AWESOME!!! Their BBQ on Saturday is beyond yum. The ribs, brisket OH MY GOSH GOODNESS!!!! Wanda ia awesome, and her staff is so polite, courteous, and very helpful. I HIGHLY recommend this place for ANY home cooked goodness. Wanda also does special order cakes. Just need to give her at least 2 days notice.
