I remember the first moment when I spoke with her, and from that one phone conversation, I knew that she and I would not only share the same vision for photography (how I would like my pictures to be captured and how she captures photographs), but also become friends!! our first phone conversation was about four months prior to the wedding, and I had not done anything to plan for it! I am a busy resident physician, and I also wanted to plan my own wedding, but I didn't know where to start! So on that day, in between me seeing patients, Emily and I had a really brief phone conversation, where she said three simple words, "I got you!" Since that fateful day, she has not given us a dream engagement photo shoot (at the very beach in which my husband, and I fell in love with in Malibu, the El Matador state Beach!) but also our very special moments on our special wedding day! In the middle of me getting pulled in different directions even on that wedding day... the minute she walked in with her team, I felt sense of calm and comfort, knowing that she was there to make sure that even though I couldn't remember everything that was happening that day because it was so busy, I trusted that she would be able to make sure I could remember those details later on in photographs! The photos came out just as I expected! The quality is professional and every picture she captured is amazing. I love her use of natural lighting. It's just so beautiful and the picture really takes you back to the moment. This feeling is perfect because I want to be able to look back when my baby is a teenager and remember this special time. From the beginning, Victoria was highly responsive, answered all my questions and even set up a call to walk through shoot day so we were prepared. She has a detailed preparation guide on her website which was extremely helpful as a new parent. The photo shoot took place at her in-home studio and it was a very comfortable, relaxing environment with everything you need for a newborn photo shoot. She has an abundance of props and the cutest outfits and accessories to choose from for each photo. Unfortunately, my baby wasn't happy this day, but despite the chaos Victoria was so kind and understanding and she worked her magic (and patience) to capture some amazing photos of our little one in between all the fussiness. She really went out of her way and even extended the session time to allow us time to calm, feed and change our baby so we could get the best photos possible. She was also so meticulous and detailed - from the props to the lighting to the baby, she made sure each element was in just the right position and orientation for the best photos. They gave us plenty of time to settle and feed the baby, and even when she spit up all over their couch, they were nothing but kind and reassuring. Their home studio was warm and welcoming, and they went the extra mile--at one point, their daughter even played with my toddler so we could focus on photos. She knew exactly how to swaddle and pose him, while Steve was a true artisan with the camera. Steve captured the most expressive shots at all the right angles. Beverly and Steve were also very receptive to our requests! My husband is a rock climber, so we wanted to create a couple of newborn pictures that included his climbing gear. Beverly made it come together so beautifully! Steve and Beverly were also patient and kind about newborn messes (spraying during diaper changes, spit up after feeding, etc.). They've seen it all (they are parents themselves), and the mess doesn't faze them. In addition, they gave some great advice to ease my anxieties as a first-time mom. Nothing about the actual pictures costing extra until AFTER the photo shoot was already done... "Oh, I'll send you a pricing sheet later." Never received it. Got proofs back after two weeks, chose the ones we want, THEN she tells us they're essentially $100 each photo, minimum of 3 photos in the cheapest package. WHAT?? So between the lack of communication, the money we lost to the sitting fee, the amount of time I spent driving to her location (2hrs each way), time and money spent on outfits and the cake, we could not justify spending another $300 for only 3 pictures. We decided it would be time and money better spent to just redo the shoot with another photographer and call it a loss. I'm beyond angry. I booked with her despite hearing stories from mutual friends about their bad experiences and her lack of professionalism. Don't trust other reviews here, most are her friends and family.
