Iconic small steamed bun sliders that melt in your mouth. Growing up in NJ, White Castle has always been a nostalgic burger spot for me. So when back in town I have to stop and grab some. Located on Kennedy Blvd this White Castle location has both inside seating and drive thru service. They even have a window inside to show you as the burgers are being created. Known for the small burgers with the steamed buns and the ketchup pickles and diced onions. I chose mine with cheese. But one bite and it took me back to my childhood. These soft and fluffy buns make the burgers almost melt in your mouth when you bite them. Reminiscent to a hot off the oven Krispy Kreme doughnut these White Castle burgers are addictive. So ordering one is never an option. Had to grab the combo which came with 4 burgers, fries and a soda. Fries were solid but the star here are always the burgers or sliders (however you want to describe them). They are delicious and if you've never tried White Castle you are missing out. Red and I frequent White Castle on a semi-regular basis. Often stopping for breakfast because it simply is better than some of the other "popular chains". Get a real egg-n-cheese with bacon or sausage. Coffee or Orange juice. Breakfast always comes with those delightful mini hashbrowns. A little ketchup and you enjoy a tasty breakfast. Last time we stop in for the burgers which are still classic in aroma and flavor. The fries and onion rings are on the mark. I am so glad the clam strips are back as I also enjoy a bag of clammy goodness. Be sure to ask for the tartar sauce. My mistake for forgetting. Very consistent my past complaint was they don't speak very well English but if you get beyond that it's white castles . It is what it is I just wish the food was not so expensive with their prices as high as they are, you could go anywhere and spend your money and get a better meal. For what it is, which is a bite size greasy sandwich to satisfy either a craving or a hangover. It really is one of the best things around unique to Jersey. Setting my expectations straight and knowing what this joint is all about the burgers are what they are meant to be. Love my sandwiches with pickles and cheese. The chicken rings are of course delicious and the fries are on point. Not no McDonalds fries but can't beat the family pack of 20 white castles, chicken rings and fries for only $23. My very first White Castle experience came about because of my teenage brother's obsession with the Harold & Kumar movie that popularized the burger chain. His restaurant choice betrays his mature, sophisticated palate; this is the same kid who dragged me to try SakaMai's $85 Wagyu Katsu Sandwich in the Lower East Side last Spring! I'm impressed -- almost 10 of us placed our orders on one receipt & only one item was missing, which an employee quickly corrected. I'd never seen, let alone eaten a White Castle slider (some people in my group had tried the grocery store frozen ones) so I was shocked at how thin the beef patty was, but those in my group who ate them seemed to like them. The Crispy Chicken Breast with Cheese combo came two sliders to an order, but I couldn't finish the second. Though I thought they were quite good, I was at my limit of fried food between not-sufficiently-crunchy onion rings & fried pickles that had too high a breading-to-pickle ratio. Their Vanilla Shake was thick like soft serve & was devoid of any flavor. An extremely heavy meal (I didn't expect anything less.) White Castle Tragedy: Drive up to white castle after craving some mozzarella sticks. Get on the incredibly long drive thru line. Spot the signs that say "Open 24 Hours. Dining room open for take out." Score! Get off the drive thru line and park car. Walk to door. It's locked. Walk to other door. Also locked. Ask an employee who came outside "hey is the inside open?". Receive a Mutombo finger wag indicating the negative response. As far as I can remember, this is my first time visiting this White Castle location. I stopped by to get a quick meal with my husband and to get a Crave Case for an event later that day for the big boxing fight. I had some coupons and experienced no trouble using them. One of them was for a buy one, get one on any #1-6 White Castle meal. The cashier informed me that I could mix and match but I stuck with the classic #1 (original burger, fries/onion rings and drink) and asked for the burgers with cheese and no pickles. I also ordered the new veggie burger with honey mustard sauce. My food was ready about 4-5 minutes later and everything was fresh and warm. My husbands burgers did not have pickles in them as I had ordered, but my batch of burgers still had pickles. I picked them out so it was not a big deal, but definitely inconvenient. Our fries and onion rings were fresh and hot! The veggie burger was okay (kinda smushy) and the sauce helped give it flavor. When we ordered our Crave Case, they got the order correct. They were pickle-free!! We also used a $3 coupon on them and there were no problematic issues using it. I observed that others were also using coupons for their meals too. The cashier helped to explain the coupons to the other customers because they couldn't understand the language on it. He also went above and beyond by helping advise on family orders when they wanted to buy a package deal but didn't know how to come up with one that was affordable. He was very friendly and accommodating! The customers in front of me were not easy, yet somehow, he was able to keep everything together. I also like this White Castle because it doesn't have bulletproof glass like the location at Journal Square in Jersey City. The place appears to be clean and well-maintained. This White Castle ALWAYS tries to up charge you if you're not paying attention for the fries and the drink. The meal comes with small fries and a small drink but they will give you mediums and up charge you without asking. The staff is very rude. We asked for a number one, steamed, with no cheese. The lady asked "with or without cheese?" My husband said "no cheese." When we got our order, the burgers had cheese on them! He kindly told the lady at the window we asked for no cheese and she just stares at him with a rude expression on her face. She closes the window and tells another lady. WRONG! i was at a TV studio late and i got a call from my friend who works for the NY redbulls soccer team who was flying back on a red eye. i told her i was going to stop over her place after i was done shooting. She suggested white castle. I completely forgot what she told me to order her. so i saw this box of 50 mini burgers for like $30 bucks and i got her the whole box. i think i ate 4 and she ate 2. Her reaction when i was standing there with a cardboard suitcase of white castle was priceless. If you ever want to shock someone take$30 bucks and go to white castle. I don't frequent white castle often. I do enjoy a good belly bomb every once in awhile. 1st off the food is super cheap. you can get a full meal for $5. includes your drink 3-4 burgers and a onion rings or fries you cant beat that. I usually get the mini burgers when i go to white castle and every time i have gone. I make the mistake of ordering with my eyes and not my stomach. Just a heads up, If you have never been to white castle order sparingly. I usually get the 6 burgers and if im lucky can eat 4. they look so small but are so heavy in your stomach. I call them (Belly Bombs) because after you eat them they hit you like a rock super heavy. On my drive from Boston to Florida we NEEDED very very badly to stop at a White Castle, didn't care where, just, we knew that it was something that had to be done. So I found this little gem in Union City which was very interesting in itself! Also, I tried to take a pic of the sign but it didn't come out..it said "Valentines Reservations Welcome" or something close, as if! I totally would reserve!! So we don't have any in or near Boston and I would drive the 4 hours to Union City with the parking lot to eat here. The chicken rings are fantastic, get the fluorescent yellow dijon to go with it and the BBQ...sooo good. Also the BBQ pulled pork slider is really good as well. Ugh! I'm sorry white castle.... Ok How should I start...? While on our trip to the sunshine state, I was cranky and needed to eat something. I knew white castle was on the way so my friend plugged it into the not-so-reliable GPS and it brought us to this little semi-precious gem. Yes, semi-precious. If I didn't have "Krystal" afterwards I would of given it a whopping 3 stars! At first glance, I was in love- The sign captured my attention- "Make reservations for Valentines NOW". How precious. We parked and went in and I felt pretty darn lucky being there because I've only consumed what the local grocery store had to offer... After repeating myself a few times to the lady taking my order and with the help from the store manager, we received the food (and no I did not rate this place based on the ease of ordering). No, it wasn't terrible by any means, but I was sort of unimpressed once I got over the whole loving the novelty idea. The burgers tasted exactly like the frozen ones you buy in the store as did the fries (which you can't buy in the store, but Ore-ida crinkle cut would of been along the lines of eating the same thing) Terrible? No! But, nothing to write home about either! Two good points: 1- Selection is better. Different kinds of burgers, miniature sized typical BBQ sandwiches, etc 2-Chicken Rings. I have nothing bad to say about them. They are tasty and fun to eat! Above all else- I really like it when a food chain offers something I've never heard of or something you just can't get anywhere else. They saved the place in my eyes. I am just happy I got to try a legit White Castle burger.. I have to admit, there really isn't anything that special about the burger.. It's like your normal sliders.. Except a little greasier and possibly even smaller than average sliders.. But the fact that I'm from the CA and we don't have White Castle.. I just had to try it while I'm over in the East Coast... A once and awhile stop for me when I am in the Union City area looking for an inexpensive lunch and sometimes after doing some local shopping. The drive thru is pretty well managed as there have never been any mishaps with what I had ordered. There is no long wait to be served either. The food is delicious and the drinks are cold, so cold. I like places like this where I understand what I am receiving exactly for a reasonable price. Parking is no concern if you choose to go inside to order and eat it there.
