There are some good hole-in-the-wall pizza joints and some GREAT hole-in-the-wall pizza joints. This place fell into the "great" category and was actually one of the few times where I did NOT look at Yelp's reviews of a business prior to coming here. And this is none other than "Tom's Delicious Pizza". Located directly on Summit Ave (and tucked in between 17th St/18th St) in the heart of Union City, NJ, this small pizza business has been dishing out mouth watering pizza (by the whole pie or the slice) dating back to 1998 (according to their website). Best of all, they have very generous hours of operation being open Monday-Saturday from 11am-10pm and Sunday from 12-10pm. I came here during the evening of Monday 10/13/2025 at around 6pm. Since it was a cool, windy autumn day, I wanted to find something in close proximity to my Airbnb. This part of Union City is fairly easy to get to (foot, car, transit, etc.) and doesn't get too busy. However, the inside is very small with only a few seats to enjoy your pizza. Their menu is quite extensive for being such a small place. They carry traditional and unique pizzas (in various sizes) as well as wings, fries, tenders, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs, burgers, pasta, and even seafood! However, my lady and I were just craving a piping hot pizza (by the slice) and this place absolutely satisfied our cravings! The guys that worked behind the counter were great as I ordered a slice of their "Chicken & Bacon" while my lady went with a slice of "Pepperoni". Prices here are very reasonable as my slice was only $4 while hers was $3. Once our slices were ready, we proceed to sit down, add our mozzarella & Italian seasoning, and were ready to indulge. I have got to say that this place is legit amazing. Some people say that this best pizza is in NYC but New Jersey is also up there at the top. The slices here are a traditional thin while they did not skimp on the toppings. And the crust had that amazingly consistent texture; buttery, crispy, and absolutely heavenly. All in all, "Tom's Delicious Pizza" is not only delish but the service, prices, portion, selection, and nostalgia of this place made it feel as if I was in an old school neighborhood pizza parlor. And if you just happen to be in Union City, NJ (which is roughly a 15-minute drive to NYC), definitely give them a try. With that said and done, I am giving this small business a perfect five-star rating. read more

I'm always searching for an excellent place for pizza delivery. Tom's has great reviews all around, so I was excited to give it a try. I ordered simply - a large pepperoni pizza. It was delivered fairly quickly on bike and arrived in good condition. The pizza itself was very average. Average crust, average flavor, and A LOT of average pepperoni that appeared to be mostly uncooked (it almost seemed like they put the pepperoni on after the pizza came out of the oven?) This place gets mostly great reviews here and in Google. I'm really surprised at the few negative reviews. This is a wonderful community establishment that makes excellent fresh pizza. The pizza is not sitting around all day. I saw a review stating they don't speak English - which is 100% false. I mentioned the pizza, they also have excellent pasta, wings and sandwiches. I'm happy this spot is close to home. As a bonus the staff is very friendly and respectful. It's everything a neighborhood pizzeria should be (except for the cramped space). read more

Really solid pepperoni pizza! My siblings and I shared a medium pepperoni pizza which was pretty large with some garlic knots on the side with sauce (which was just marinara sauce). The garlic knots were also pretty good. The pizza is on the oilier side but we enjoyed it fresh out of the oven. Service was very fast and nice. They have some tight seating in store near the pathway to the cashier but you're better taking it somewhere else with more space. read more

Decent pizza, 4 garlic knots and 1 cheese empanada that came with the special. Garlic knots did not come with marinara, we had our own at home to dip it on so that worked out! They were alright, could use more flavor but decent. Delivery came within the time frame. I had taken my two son's to New Jersey to get to know where I grew up (Jersey City) and they wanted to try AUTHENTIC NY style slices and pies. Well since I hadn't been to Jersey in over 20 years, I didn't know what spots were still open. So we searched for the best pizza and Tom's was the best one of them all... and boy did they back it up with how amazing the food was and their customer service. This is a good pizza spot. I've tried quite a few in the neighborhood, and right now it's between Tom's and Paisano's so far for the local crown - I still haven't been able to decide which one I prefer. After trying a bunch of places in Hoboken, I came across this place in Union City, and never looked back. I used YELP to find highly-rated pizza in our area because our former favorite pizza place closed during the pandemic. Tom's Delicious Pizza lived up to their name and got our pie delivered post-haste (in 30 minutes). The star of the show was the sauce, but the crust and the cheese were top notch as well. It was a little thicker than most NYC-style pizza but my girlfriend and I were both impressed. Tl;Dr - this place has one of the better plain cheese pizzas in the area. Definitely way better than Sam's on Kennedy and others in the nearby area. Garlic knots are decent, but for the price (4 for $1) it wouldn't hurt to try them. Long version - this place had gotten new owners/management about a year or so ago. Food quality has gone up, specifically for the pizza. They accept card and do online ordering, which is a plus for me. They have become a local spot for me to get a slice when I'm craving. I usually get my food to go, since it is a bit tight to eat in. Their pepperoni calzone is pretty good too and prices are affordable. read more

The pizza is amazing and it's hard to get the New York style down right! The prices are also extremely amazing, they can't be beat. The only issue is that it seems a little odd or unprofessional to heat up empanadas in the microwave, they should toss them in the oven in some foil.
