The very first visit is an ASSESSMENT visit only. The hygienist takes numerous x rays, evaluates your teeth, and the dentist pops in to look at the radiology scans. I'll be honest - it's difficult to find time for myself let alone a dental appointment. I think it'd be reasonable to do a cleaning on the same visit as well. Perhaps it's for billing/reimbursements? I'm not sure, but booking ANOTHER appointment few weeks later to actually get work done is VERY inconvenient and really knocks this place down 2 stars. I expected her to apologize for the prior week's fiasco with the incompetent new-hire. But when I sat down in her chair, she started an angry tirade criticizing me for being so mean to the new hygienist! I was shocked. When I asked to speak with Dr. Young, she cold and unfriendly, more interested in protecting her young new-hire than in my needs as a patient. It was all so unprofessional and weird. I left vowing never to return. There are many excellent dentists in our area. I found one of them, in Middletown. No reason to go to this third-rate dental practice.

Fast forward 3 months, they bill us for some of the billing because the insurance covers only some percent on it - it shows on billing, ok that was a cost we knew was coming. Then they billed us for treatments from the first visit 9months ago because they're now saying that the insurance won't cover. We contacted our insurance, and they did not receive anything. If we knew it wasn't going to be covered from the very beginning through our insurance, we wouldn't gotten the treatments done. All it looks like is you're trying to get money squeezed from your patients. Raised voice and cut us off when talking multiple times, so we raised on voice back to talk over them since they weren't listening. The office will NOT do your cleaning if you decline radiographs. It is unfortunate that these corporations push the upselling of items to their patients. Why not have the patient sign a form stating they declined the radiographs??? I also cannot understand why a business would turn away the cleaning fee and refuse to care for the patient. This is certainly going to hurt this practice in the long term.
