I'm not sure how the season the home fries but they are delicious. Great play area for the kids and lots of table seating or just sitting out in their other chairs. I like this store. So much of everything along with the most grumpy horrible cashiers. Every time we go here we are met with cashiers with terrible attitudes and every single one of these old 'ladies' (they are my age) bark about what eggs we would need. This store has a lot of goodies and is definitely worth a visit. Various fresh baked goods, breads and treats. They have local artisan sauces, cheeses and other goodies. There is something for everyone. What I have really fallen in love with though, is their poutine. They make a killer poutine with fresh cheese curds and a dark rich gravy. The price is great too. We went to White Feather today for a lil' shopping today It's a cute country store out by Raglan which is north of Oshawa on Simcoe The store is known for two things 1)...The eggs...:the eggs are straight from the farm and the price is great....quality is great ....can get both white and brown....they are always stocked up.....and people in Durham always head there to stock up....today we ended up getting some eggs as well.... 2) ....and by far the best thing about this place is there fritters....particularly their apple fritters....their fritters are large and so tasty....and the price is awesome....they are quite addictive They have a hot counter that sells fries and other bites at a reasonable price..... The store also offers lots of other goods....breads.....baked goods....they have various frozen goods from meats to desserts to pasta and fries.....their golden crisp fries are especially good.... They also sell Cowboy burgers and steaks.....and they sell sausages from the Great Canadian Meat Company which are extremely delish They also have a spot that sells lots of knick-knacks and gifts from kitchen goods, pet stuff, signs, jewelry etc as well They have a big outdoor spot to eat .... I've driven past White Feather Country Store a few times but never stopped in until now. My cousins and I took a day to explore parts of Durham Region and this was our second stop. What a great spot! This country store is worth the drive if you are in Ontario. Lots of home baked goodies, and fresh vegetables. And if you keep going through the store, there is a lot more to explore in the back. The store is very interesting and quite a variety of products to choose from. I have never had a problem with any purchases over the years, however, the staff in the Bakery need to learn some manners. I have visited the store many times and I have always found the same "unfriendly and rude" staff in the bakery. During a visit there a couple of days ago, I was in the Bakery in the late afternoon and my first encounter was with a staff member behind the counter of the bakery. She dismissed my presence when I asked her a question and abruptly told me if what I was looking for wasn't on the rack, then they didn't have it! Second encounter when I approached "the rack" there was another staff member refilling the products. When I touch the cart that her products were on, she actually "hit my hand" and rudely told me to look on the rack and not touch her cart. I couldn't believe it! This type of unacceptable behaviour has happened to me in the bakery at least 3 times in the past. I found most of the bakery staff extremely rude and not at all eager to help. Discusting! read more

It's an interesting experience visiting White Feather Farms. From the eccentric giant chicken pick-up truck you can't miss from the main highway to the odd-ball collection of food and household items inside, there's certainly many things to grab your attention. The store is in three parts, a small cafe offering sandwiches, hot food and drinks, a mini-grocery store with a large variety of fancy breads, pies and frozen foods, and another section with items for home décor and gifts. Outside is a small playground with some tractors for kids to sit and play on, and a little climbing structure with a sandpit. The food to take home is hit and miss. The breads and pies are fantastic, but some of the frozen stuff is overpriced for the quality. Needless to say, it's worth browsing as you'll certainly find something to get your tastebuds salivating. Overall it's a fun experience for folk of most ages, which explains why it can get very crowded at weekends and other peak times. read more

White Feather's is a great place to stop at if you are heading north of Oshawa into Port Perry for some small town shopping or gambling. There is a little cafe inside where you can get sandwiches and fresh baked goods. Everything from breads to butter tarts to cookies to cakes. They also carry sugar free baked treats too. The store has a funny lay out. At the front, on the east side there is the cafe, in the centre there is bakery items, to the west there is frozen foods, and at the back all the tacky country themed decor (sorry for the pause...I puked in my mouth). They do carry home made foods that are frozen and available in large quantities. They also carry a huge selection of hot sauces. I think there is even one called Oshawa road kill. read more

This is a cool place. Yes, you can get eggs, but you can also get everything else. They sell fresh baked goods, frozen food, frozen prepared meals as well as many products from small companies. They carry all kinds of knick knacks, clothing and crafts. Pricing is hit or miss, really depends what you're looking for. I have passed this place many times. Finally I decided to pop in and see why all the cars are parked and so many people go here. I entered the store and I must say I was not disappointed. There were pumpkins that were farm picked and very well priced. I went into the shop and they have a frozen section to look through, a décor section to look through, various candles(ugh some from the States) many fresh picked veggies, fresh pies, a bakery and café.... I thought it was charming. I purchased several items and I will be back. We try to support locally as much as we can. read more

This is my favroite country store, craft shop and bakery. Just minutes north of Oshawa off Simcoe St. A visit here on a day off is just a pleasure. In one stop you can buy tasty baked goods, purchase from a wide selection of frozen meats and vegatatables and choose from hundreds of gift and decorative items, many hand made. There's even a pleasant cafe for a quick snack and coffee. This is my favroite place for Christmas shopping. It's great for last minute and thrifty gift ideas. Great little spot to pick up brown eggs that are cheaper than what you can expect to find in a supermarket. Here you can buy a dozen large brown eggs for around $2.60 and in the major supermarkets they are closer to $4.99. I'm not sure if these are from free range chickens or not. I called and asked and one of the staff there wasn't able to give me an answer. I would be giving this place five stars but I have taken two off for the fact that their baked food is just pathetic and sad. I've given this place multiple chances because I love supporting smaller businesses but here the muffins and cookies are in desperate need of some moisture and fat. I bake a lot at home, so this was obvious to me on the first bite. Save your money and get a muffin at Tim Hortons instead. read more

Nightmare might be not enough of a strong enough word to describe my experience. I've been there may time in the past. When I arrived today I noticed the parking lot was near empty. That should have been a clue that maybe something has changed. After placing a food order I stood and waited for 25 minutes for my order to be called. I then approached the cashier with my receipt and showed her how long I had been waiting. She then asked a cook and the cook told me that the girl had called my order out but no one answered. I told her I was standing ten feet away and no one called the order out. I asked why I was being treated in such a disgraceful manner. No one had an answer for me. I demanded my money back,and got it, The standards of this place falling apart, and the lack of customers in the restaurants and store clearly reflect their lack of customer service. read more

The cafe offers decent food at low prices. It is served cafeteria style where you have to stand in line and pay for your food first. The bakery offers great bread and dessert options and they are baked fresh daily. The frozen food items are okay and offer many options. The greeting card section has low priced cards with lots to chose from. The gifts are eclectic in nature with lots of variety. Over the years I have bought many items here and for the most part been happy with my purchases. Parking is ample and close to the store. Handicapped washrooms are available. It is worth the trip here but be wary of being overwhelmed with lots of stock in a small space to look at. read more

They use to have the best apple fritters and i told everyone so. After visiting a couple weeks ago for the first time in a couple years i purchased a half dozen only to find that they are now large balls of dough with little to no apple inside. I live in St. Thomas, Ontario but I frequently visit White Feather store when I am down in this area. The store is beyond wonderful but the last time I was there I bought strawberry rhubarb pies, one to take to my son's and one to bring home. Well today I took the one pie out of the freezer for tonight desert and low and behold the pie crust is burned so bad that I will have to cut it all off before I serve it. This also happened last October when I went for a girls weekend away and when I took the apple pie out of the box it was also burned but because I had to pass by on the way home, I returned it.. St. Thomas is a long way to go to make a return. CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT IT IS BURNED BEFORE YOUR PUT IT IN THE BOXES TO BE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC. Gloria V. read more
