We spent a weekend at the Featherbed Inn in November and cannot wait to go back! The whole property became absolutely magical during the first snowfall of the year in late November. Karen & Mick are the most wonderful innkeepers and keep the space warm and inviting at all times. Karen also happens to make the best breakfast scones (fig and vanilla! cheddar and chive!) in the morning that are served warm, freshly baked, with butter and jam. Where do I even begin? Every single thing about this place is incredible. Breakfasts: nothing short of astonishing. Prepare to have your day begin with a thoughtfully-curated, multi-course selection of delicious food. Breakfast starts off with a fresh scone (the vanilla Fig ones were our favorite) and then a creative fruit plate of sorts, and, finally, the showstopper (puff pancakes with maple bacon, breakfast cubanos to name a few). Starting your day off with these elaborate breakfasts is truly such a treat. The location: Incredible. Tons of restaurants (we loved Peasant), amazing breweries (Lawsons!), scenic hikes (can snowshoe from the property), skiing and more! There is even a farm with pigs / cows/ tractors 2 minutes from the property that our toddler son went absolutely bananas for. The property: Magical. Hard to describe the serenity that the property espouses. It is truly magic. The main Inn is so cozy with a roaring fire every morning and night, amazing guests to chat with and cookies to enjoy by the fire after a long day of skiing / snow-shoeing / drinking beer - whatever floats your boat. There is also an incredible hot tub and cozy robes to take advantage of. The Innkeepers, Mick and Karen: no words can describe how amazing they are. There is a reason why every other review mentions them -- they are warm, caring and make you feel so incredibly welcome in their place. You feel as though you are staying with your family at the most amazing, cozy place you could possibly imagine. It is clear they care deeply about their guests and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They cater to your particular interests/ needs and really do go above and beyond for their guests. Every little touch this place offers makes for a truly incredible experience. I'm a wedding photographer located in Massachusetts. I travel all over New England for weddings, and so happened to be hired for a wedding in July of 2015 in Waitsfield, VT. The bride and groom put me up at the Featherbed Inn, and I couldn't be more happy. First off, when I first drove in I was ecstatic. The view is so beautiful with the mountains in the background, and the wonderfully kept grounds. They have a horse, and cats and dogs all over. As an animal lover, I was so happy. The owners were incredibly welcoming and sweet. My room was perfect, the bed was so comfortable! I even had my own bathroom. Everything was spotless and clean. The owners also cook breakfast everyday, and it's different each day. Oh my goodness, the food was so delicious! One of the days I had fresh jam, and I wanted to take some home. I highly, highly recommend this place for either a nice weekend getaway, or if you're looking for a place to stay while attending an event in the area. read more

The Featherbed Inn made our engagement so special. It's truly the ideal inn experience: On top of being a beautiful, romantic setting (the inn is located in a quiet part of Sugarbush, a town where everyone knows each other's name) with its own little lake, Karen and Mick made the stay so lovely--creating a welcoming, homey ambiance, making sure we were comfortable (and eating our best) us recommendations on the best places to visit. We had a wonderful weekend at the Featherbed Inn with a group of friends. Mick and Karen are warm and welcoming innkeepers, and the Inn itself is beautiful and comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing: puff pancakes, incredible scones, excellent coffee... Just spent a lovely weekend here with my boyfriend and friends and I can't save enough great things about this place! 1. Linda and Tom are so nice and friendly, they were super helpful when I was booking the rooms and answered all of my questions via phone and email promptly. 2. The rooms were all fun, unique, clean, and comfortable! The beds felt like giant pillows! 3. ALL OF THE ANIMALS, from dogs to cats to horses! They were all friendly! 4. Breakfast, delicious coffee, fruit, pancakes, breads, STUFFED FRENCH TOAST! They serve breakfast at 8, 8:30, and 9, everything was delicious and we were encouraged to have seconds! 5. It's in a great location, about 50 minutes to Burlington, lots of hikes and waterfalls within 5-10 minutes, and tons of breweries. 6. There's a fire pit! Lots of grass for activities! Foosball table, board games, movies if it's rainy out too! Definitely would recommend staying here, we're even planning our return trip for the fall already! read more

I can't say enough of Mick's generous spirit on this Christmas Eve. My family and I are visiting Sugarbush for skiing and our 100% electric car's level 3 charger broke so husband had to leave it overnight at a level 2 charging station to charge overnight so we can get home to New Jersey tomorrow. However, since it's Christmas Eve, he wasn't able to reach any Ubers or Taxi services so he would have been stranded at the charging station 6 miles from our Airbnb in the dark with the only other option of walking 6 miles in 20F cold if it weren't for Mick, who happened to have been there to offer my husband a ride. He went out of his way to drive my husband 12 miles round trip on Christmas Eve and so we will be forever grateful. We're looking forward to staying and exploring his excellently-reviewed Inn in the near future! read more

This is the nicest bed & breakfast in Waitsfield! The rooms are huge and cozy. And like the name implies, you're sleeping on featherbeds which are just the darn comfiest. The breakfast was large and never-ending. Blueberry AND plain pancakes?! You mean I don't have to pick between the two? Yes please! The owners are so nice too. Very sweet and kind, and they have the most adorable animal collection. Dogs, horses, bunnies, etc. All also sweet. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

At the end of a long week, we enjoy packing a bag, jumping on the bike and taking off to destinations unknown. We love the back roads of Vermont and New Hampshire and most of the time, that's where our journey's take us. At the end of this ride, we pulled over to look for a place to stay - and discovered the Featherbed Inn. We had no prior reservations and were fortunate that they had a room available. We arrived only minutes after calling and met Linda as we pulled into the driveway. Linda greeted us as though we had been there many times before and was specifically waiting there for us to arrive. The inn and our room was warm & inviting. Although it is mid-summer, we imagined ourselves sitting in front of the fireplace during a colder season. On this evening, we sat on the deck where we enjoyed a bottle of wine and gazed at the stars. We woke up the next morning to the smell of a delicious breakfast that we also enjoyed outside on the deck. The price was reasonable - the inn was cozy - the room and bed were both inviting & comfortable, and Linda & Tom are both warm & friendly. What a lovely place to spend a couple of days! Karen and Mick were enthusiastic, warm and welcoming. The inn itself is a dream, very clean, cozy and inviting. Lovely grounds with a pond, trails and many quiet places to sit and take in the beauty of VT. We loved taking a walk in the woods and checking out a nearby watercolor exhibit at Karen's suggestion. We stayed at the Featherbed Inn last year for the two days before Christmas, and we liked it. The Inn was beautiful, the innkeepers nice, the beds unbelievably comfortable (it's called the Featherbed Inn for a reason...) We made reservations to stay again this year, this time for three days leading up to Christmas. We arrived on December 22. On our drive up, we realized that the owners had changed. The new owners, Karen and Mick, called to confirm, and they were not Tom and Linda... As good of a time as we were expecting to have, we had an even better time with Mick and Karen. They bought the Inn early this month, and are bringing a new enthusiasm to an already beautiful set up. The Inn is beautiful. The suite we stayed in, the Susan, is charming. It has two rooms - one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twins, along with an en-suite bathroom. The featherbeds are cozy and comfortable. The common areas of the inn are also charming. We sat by the fireplace both evenings we were there, and played Scrabble and Monopoly, a rare occurrence with our teen and tween kids. The internet was also really really fast. The breakfast was delicious. Each day included coffee or tea, a fruit dish, then a main dish (an egg dish, French toast, etc.). Karen baked fresh scones each morning, scones that were moist and of varied flavors. There was also a snack each afternoon. The new innkeepers, Karen and Mick, could not have been nicer. They are clearly excited about buying the Inn, and were interested in our impressions. They were also a pleasure to hang out with. We are already thinking about when we can come back! read more

I showed up in Waitsfield to a 55 degree AirBnb which was definitely haunted and had zero smoke detectors. I called Featherbed in a panic - it was the start of school vacation week and I had my dog with me - plus I was on a limited budget, given that I had already spent on a rental I wouldn't be using. Karen & Mick couldn't have been more accommodating and set me and my dog up in one of their freestanding cottages. The direct access to the trail system behind the property was absolutely amazing with beautiful views of their neighbor Lareau Farm. They breakfast was out of this world (and thankfully in the -6 degree weather, brought right to my cottage). It was the perfect place to sneak in a quick day of skiing. read more

This was probably the first Bed and Breakfast I've stayed at. Pros: -Linda and Tom were very mellow, accommodating and friendly -Breakfast was excellent. ample coffee, fresh juice i believe, and delicious homemade raspberry pancakes. -warm decor, nice book selection, beautiful grounds Cons: -I was staying with a buddy after getting off of the long trail. the only room available was fairly stuffy. thankfully, there was a wall mounted AC unit. If I wanted a place to stay in Waitsfield again, I would happily return. read more

Was in town for a Wedding. We stayed in the Shelly room. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was served between 8-9 AM and it was excellent. The owners are very nice and if ever in the area I would stay again. read more

Lovely stay at the Featherbed Inn this past weekend. The property is very cozy and located conveniently close to Sugarbush and Waitsfield village. The proprietors Linda and Tom are extremely friendly and gracious and their pets who roam the inn freely are hilarious. Also, having never slept in an actual feather bed I truly felt on "vacation". We stayed at the Featherbed Inn for a wedding over Labor Day weekend. Booking the room was very easy with well explained policies. Upon arrival and throughout our stay Linda and Tom were very friendly and informative, they were happy answer all of our questions. Our room, Alexandra, was spacious, clean and comfortable. The featherbed was definitely a great feature if you like sleeping on soft beds. Due to festivities we made breakfast once, but we are happy we attended; it was very good. Please make sure you call in advance to order one of Tom's pies. Best Apple pie I have had. For dog lovers the Inn has two great dogs, very friendly and happy to get a belly rub. We had a busy schedule so we did not take advantage of everything the Inn had to offer, but the TV room was a great place to relax during the day while waiting to go out. Though it was the end of summer we still went over to the ski resorts to get breakfast sandwiches as suggested by Linda and Tom, it was about a 7 minute drive which would be convenient in the ski season, also went to the waterfalls which were under 10 minutes away. I just spent a wonderful 4 nights at the Featherbed with my husband and friends for a destination winter wedding. I can't say enough about how accommodating Linda & Tom are, not to mention the delicious breakfasts they prepare! The Inn is so charming, cozy and clean! Everything you want out of a country get-away retreat. The beds are so comfortable and I could not wait to come back after wedding festivities and crawl into this bed - only after ransacking the homemade cookies Linda leaves for guests in the dining room. I have been home for only a day and am missing those breakfasts, the fireplace and my morning greeting by Robbie - the sweetest Newfoundland on the planet.
