We stayed in #16 - the room was HUGE; separate sleeping area and living space - bathroom was also HUGE. Jetted tub for 2 - nice!! Bed and linens were very comfy, we slept great. About 2 blocks from the main shopping street in Sturgeon Bay - glad I did not have to tote all those shopping bags any further!! Breakfast was fantastic - we sampled both the Breakfast Casserole and the French Toast (separate days). We will definitely be back on our next Door County trip. read more

We LOVED our stay at White Lace Inn! Our unit was clean and I loved that the shared kitchenette area outside of our room that had tea and coffee available 24/7. We had a king size tub in the bathroom that was massive and easily fits two people. The electric fireplace was a great touch and really gave it a cozy feel, especially as we stayed during Winter. There was a short walk to the main house where breakfast was served every morning - very good and changed everyday. There were also options for tea, coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, or a mix of orange/cranberry juice. The innkeepers were very friendly and full of information. White Lace Inn - Sturgeon Bay Wi. This is ironic that I ended up here 3 days later. When I was originally looking for a place to stay I saw White Lace Inn which was built in 1903. This is a Bed & breakfast. I really like the Victorian architecture of the main house & old world charm of the interior. I tried to book a room only to find that they were booked for the dates I wanted so I booked a room in Bailey Harbor Yacht Resort. Fast forward a few days later & my car was experiencing some issues so I had my car towed from Bailey Harbor to Sturgeon Bay rather then risk driving 3 1/2 hrs back to Chicago where the auto shop was that diagnosed and fixed my car. As faith would have it the Kevins Automative where my car was towed to was less then 3 blocks from the White Lace Inn. Coincidence I think not. Anyhow I booked a room for 1 night hoping my car would be ready quickly. White Lace Inn is as beautiful inside as outside and it was such a pleasure to stay in a place w/so much old world charm instead of a modern hotel (maybe I'm getting old lol). When I walked in the owner Dennis greeted me & took me to the room that I booked on line. I stayed in back of the main house in The Garden House where I had a very nice room on the second floor complete w/an actual wood fireplace complete w/firewood, matches, & fire starters complete w/instructions. I didn't use the fireplace though I was tempted. There was also a private bathroom attached to the room. The next morning I went to the main house for breakfast. When I came in Dennis asked me if I would like some coffee (of course) & juice. He served a very nice meal w/French toast w/berries between the pieces of toast, slivered almonds & powdered sugar on top. This came w/a breakfast sausage & a small plate of pears. It was a good meal (but I could have used a little more). Very quaint place w/a lot of charm, great history & hospitality. I would probably go back if I'm ever in Sturgeon Bay, Door County again. read more

White Lace Inn is a delightful B&B property comprised of a Victorian main house and 3 other turn-of-the-century houses that total 18 guest rooms.  The guest rooms all have a quaint Victorian bed set up and historic decor.  The Inn is also on the National Register of Historic Places.  The 4 houses naturally and quaintly sit right in a residential area, and it's relatively easy to miss this whole place! A couple of weeks before our stay, we lucked out and nabbed a room here for our one Sturgeon Bay night during this very prime and colorful fall period in Door County.  Suite 16, also called Winter Warmth, was fortuitously available in their Hadley House for one night.  Their other 2 houses are called the Garden House and Washburn House, and all 4 houses share grounds that include a gazebo, small garden, and a couple of other sitting areas. The included breakfast is served in the main house which just means a very short walk in the morning if you don't happen to be in one of the 4 guest rooms in the main house.  Folks just gather up at the available tables in the main house anytime between 8am and 10:30am and owner/innkeeper Dennis himself serves a delightful and delicious breakfast (a veggie egg bake, yogurt with fruits/nuts, poppyseed bread, a giant carafe of coffee, and orange or cranberry juice on this day).  We also met and chit-chatted over breakfast with a friendly and also retired couple from Fond du Lac, WI. Our room was spacious, cozy, quaint, and delightful.  This was actually our first B&B stay as we usually just do conventional hoteling, so this was a much homier and personal experience for us.  Dennis was admittedly a bit on the harried side though as in this Covid era and commonly so everywhere, he was short staffed and was truly a one man show.  When we arrived, he was actually prepping the Garden House for a needed paint job.  He was a pro though, promptly dropped that activity, and then gave us a no-nonsense tour of our room.  Then we see him serving us breakfast the next morning - yikes but also kudos I thought. When you arrive, you can park in their main parking lot right next to the main house, but depending on your room, you move your car as the Hadley and Washburn House each have 4 car spaces just a few feet from their front doors.  Quite nice and homey on that aspect also, and Dennis will tell you where to park.  Their location is also just a short 5 minute walk to Surgeon Bay's main commercial drag, 3rd Ave. Overall, a great stay and a delightful B&B experience.  I would just say in this extraordinary Covid era, to cut some slack on the small stuff.  Like a couple of the houses needed a paint job, and Dennis was working it, but don't hold something like that against them.  The interiors and our guest room were well maintained and perfectly fine.  My only little gripe (and it's not just this place as I had the same issue at our other hotel) was that the pillows provided tend to be too polyester firm for me compared to my plush down-filled pillows at home, and it takes longer to fall asleep.  Also, not being on the road for almost 2 years thanks to Covid may be an adaptability factor as well.  Anyway, White Lace Inn overall gets a big thumbs up from me. read more

My spouse and I spent a weekend in Sturgeon Bay this month, and stayed at the White Lace Inn! The buildings themselves were absolutely beautiful, and way more comfortable than a hotel room. We stayed in room 6 in the Garden House, which was built in the 1800's. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was clean, and it has a wood burning fireplace that my spouse loved! Being a bed and breakfast, the White Lace Inn also serves breakfast every morning. While we were there we got to eat blueberry stuffed french toast and a delicious egg bake. Breakfast is, I believe, from 8-10:30, which makes it easy to get to even if you sleep in (like we do!). The innkeeper we met, Dennis, was very helpful, and the rest of the staff seemed incredibly friendly and welcoming. Side note: the coffee served at breakfast is DELICIOUS. We had to buy a bag to bring back to Milwaukee because it was so tasty! Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the White Lace Inn, and hope to go back sometime in the near-ish future, when we can afford another vacation! read more

We spent two lovely days up in Door County at The White Lace Inn. It was peaceful and heavenly. We went looking into the history of my grandfather's Swiss family the Zettels. We found lots of exciting things including our ancestors from Luzern coming over and starting the cherry orchards in the 1800s. The owner was very kind and the room was clean and comfortable. A tip would be to have some vegetarian accommodations for breakfasts. We ended up skipping that meal and headed up to visit other locations in gorgeous Door County. read more

We stayed for 3 nights in early October. Our room was very charming and had everything we needed. Dennis is an excellent Innkeeper. Nice hot and tasty breakfasts, great coffee, and a wonderful sunrise to drink. We really loved the location. Everything in Door County was easily accessible. The neighborhood was nice and quiet and a short walk into town. We really enjoyed drinking wine and talking with new friends nightly by the fire pit. Disappointed after seeing the photo and reading the ad -most of the rooms are not in the house (inn?)shown. The properties seem tired and several years overdue for refreshing. Bathrooms in some rooms are old and small. There is a big difference in antiques and just old furniture. White lace Inn is what you make it. For Luke and I, initially it was one of the ONLY options to book for a place to sleep and upon arrival it became so much more. This past weekend, we decided to cruise up through door county because we had a weekend off together, wonderful weather and a motorcycle to take advantage of before winter. Our first night, we uninspired, saw White Lace had one room left; complete with king bed and jacuzzi tub, Both accompanied by a high price point. Upon arrival we met Jeff, who opened our eyes to door county as he asked the correct open ended questions and truly helped to round out our door county weekend get away by pointing every great place out on a map. Parallel that with an amazing 1800, fully restored home, all Knick knacks and decor in full swing. We were in the "Hadley House" and were blown away by the ambiance. The first and only night, we had a bottle of wine and a full on bubble bath for two. In the morning, we went to the main house for a homemade breakfast with other travelers. We were served egg bake, pistachio and chocolate bread and limitless juices and coffee. We were reluctant to find that the next night was booked and we would not be able to stay again but we were so very glad we had the initial opportunity. We will absolutely be back. Dennis, as well as the rest of the staff, seemed tired, perhaps because it was near the end of the season. There are many beautiful antiques in the main house. Our room was very small, virtually no where to put even one suitcase, the bathroom in need of updating. Breakfast one day was very good, stuffed cherry-filled french toast, but the second day was at best marginal. Neither portion would be filling for a large person, and no "seconds" were offered, nor any option to request something else. We frequent B&B's to get advice on the local area, this was essentially a non-starter. If we come back to Door County, we will stay somewhere else. read more

This place is super cute. Cozy and quaint describe it perfectly. Victorian style, with knick knacks galore. Dennis, the innkeeper, was very friendly and always accessible. I even loved the little kitty that lives outside in the garden. The breakfast served here brought an unexpected modernity to the B and B. Day 1 we were served a watermelon/strawberry/cilantro stuffed French toast, day 2 a southwest egg bake. Both breakfasts were outstanding, well balanced, and I left very full. Location is 5 stars for sturgeon bay. It is just a short walk away from bars, restaurants, and shops. Still a 30 minute drive from what you expect I'm door county, but it's location make it a faster destination when coming from Milwaukee or Chicago. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at the White Lace Inn, with the added bonus of having my wedding in the gazebo. Our suite in the Hadley House was absolutely lovely. I seriously could have just moved in. It was well appointed and not as overdone as I've seen some other B&B's. Just a really comfortable, wonderful space to be in. The rest of my family that stayed there was equally pleased with their rooms. The Innkeepers, Dennis and Bonnie were gracious hosts, as well as the rest of the staff. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was just insane. I actually grabbed some of the free recipe cards on my way out. This was no mere continental breakfast, this was like being in a restaurant. They even plate it up in the kitchen and bring it out to you. To sum it up, it was a perfect wedding experience and we're already talking about going back for our anniversary. read more

I'm giving White Lace Inn 2 stars because my significant other really wanted to go here, and also because this is a family establishment and I have to give them some recognition for that. Beyond that, I can't say much good. But then again I am an extremely particular person. I suppose in some respects the place was clean, but in others I wouldn't say it is. The Inn was started in 1982 as I noticed in the pictures when you enter the Inn. And I don't think they've bought new sheets or bedding or placements since then. Things are really outdated and some look particularly used. I must admit I have a little quick when it comes to outdated used bedding and towels. The mattress in our room was also quite used - every time I moved it was like a wave. From what I can see the breakfast is the same all the time - if you have an issue with sugar or carbs this is not the bed and breakfast for you! I don't really know bed and breakfasts so if you're supposed to have a choice, you don't. On the plus side, the coffee was good! I can't say that I'd stay here again but it looks like plenty of people love White Lace Inn so I'm just here to add a different perspective voice. You'll either love it - or not love it!:) read more

We were very disappointed with our stay. We stay in the Garden House, which is in need of some major renovation. The front porch floor boards were warped. In our room, the green carpeting was decades old and stained. There was a burned out light bulb in one of the fixtures. They installed newer windows, but didn't bother to scrape the old paint. We were not impressed with the one breakfast we had,. The stuffed French Toast was soggy inside. Since the menu was the same for the next day, we ate out for the rest of our stay. Each year, my wife and I take a trip for our anniversary. My wife had never been to Door County, so we booked a five-day weekend at the White Lace Inn. It was our first experience staying in a Bed and Breakfast. What a great experience the White Lace Inn turned out to be. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. The room was comfortable and decorated in such a way, you truly felt you stepped back to a magical time. The grounds were relaxing, with a gazebo, garden and pond that provided a tranquil setting to enjoy our morning coffee. And the breakfasts? Hats off to the chef, who prepared unbelievable entrees each morning. The chef is a magician with eggs. And the wait staff was so friendly and attentive. Innkeepers Dennis and Bonnie are perfect hosts. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Perhaps the best part of our stay was meeting so many wonderful fellow guests during breakfast and our time spent in the garden. We met so many couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries. The White Lace Inn will become our home away from home in Door County. Truly a special place that deserves even more than 5 stars. read more

We found this place on hotels.com and thought we'd try it. Owner is really nice and walked us to our room and showed us everything. From how to turn on the fireplace to the jacuzzi tub. Room was spacious, airy, and full of sunlight from all the windows. It even has under floor heating- what a treat! Bed was really comfy too- and we didn't hear anyone else inside the house- so a great place for a weekend getaway. Complimentary breakfast was very tasty and gave us a chance to spend time in the main house. Spoke to a few other guests while enjoying a leisurely breakfast. A few blocked from 3rd where shopping is located along with a few tasting rooms. Would definitely stay here again! read more

My wife and I live down in Milwaukee and had a long weekend get away after our wedding to the Main House here. Dennis was super welcoming and warm to talk with about various locations in Door County to visit and about the history of the White Lace Inn and the various items in each room. The Breakfast each more was either an AMAZING egg bake or a stuffed french toast that would fill you up for most of the day. They support local artists with various pottery, artwork, and books from the local scene that are high quality yet give you the small artist feel that you're supporting. The accommodations were really reasonable and overall experience exceeded our initial expectations. We will definitely be back to celebrate various anniversaries. read more

The White Lace Inn is probably the cutest, coziest, and convenient stay in Sturgeon Bay. The rooms may look antiquated, however they're quite charming- and also come with the added benefits of in-room fireplaces and jacuzzis, depending on the room you select (there are varying rooms and houses). The inn is less than 5 mins walking from the area's shops and restaurants, and offers a delicious breakfast in the morning (had their breads, egg skillets, and yogurt- all great). The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's a memorable stay. read more

This was our first time staying at a B&B and a very nice first experience. Initially, my husband and I were worried about staying in someone else's home, however we did not feel like we were in a strangers home. We stayed in room #10 of the Garden House. The room was smaller than preferred but it was charming, rustic, and super clean! The size of the room was okay because we did not spend a lot of time in the room. Next time we will opt for a larger room with a tub. The bed was very comfortable and linens were clean and obviously high quality bedding. The innkeepers were friendly. The breakfasts were amazing and both my husband and I were satisfied. The grounds were very pretty. We especially enjoyed being greeted by the owners cat while outside admiring the property. (Note: for those not so animal loving individuals the cat was not affection hungry nor clingy, no need to worry about a cat climbing all over you). read more

I've shied away from B&Bs for ages for fear of innkeepers, floral decor, and the general weirdness of staying in "someone else's house." But when I needed a refuge from Wrigleyville New Year's festivities (read: barf on your doorstep) and a friend recommended White Lace Inn, I decided to give it a try. It was awesome! The breakfasts were beyond my expectations (like the previous reviewer noted, just like a restaurant), and the innkeepers were super-nice. Hot breakfast every day, fresh cookies every afternoon (and Oreos anytime), coffees and teas for the taking and cocoa/cider if you ask--it's all at the White Lace Inn! Extra-awesomes: fireplaces/whirlpools in tons of rooms. Mine only had a fireplace, but boy, did we enjoy it! We got marshmallows and skewers from the local Wal-Mart and roasted marshmallows FOREVER. So tasty. My room also had a porch. Also, the Heath Bar chocolate cookies are out of this world--even if you don't get to taste them, make sure to snag a recipe from the free recipe card collection and make them at home. Hopefully we can go back for a visit again someday. We stayed at WLI for Christmas Eve and Christmas night, anticipating a lovely festive holiday getaway. We were mostly disappointed. THE GOOD: The main house is charming enough, in good repair and not overly foofaw-y, our room was clean, the bed was comfy. THE BAD: The room had a jacuzzi tub but it didn't work. The TV remote was defective. Our room had only a narrow bench on which to sit. It had no clock. We expected some Christmas festivity--at least a special breakfast. The breakfast was tiny (served on a sandwich plate) and under cooked (of 4 of us at the table, 3 didn't eat the main baked egg dish), we got half a small slice of poppy seed bread, and a small serving of yogurt with some grapes). The cookies in the public area were Oreos, not home made. The tea water was cold. THE UGLY: The public rooms on the main floor were in need of attention (my wife briefly considered offering to vacuum the rugs and floors). There were 20 or so cartons of ceramics stacked next to the dining room table, and a pile of unused Christmas wreaths heaped on the porch next to the front door. Tacky. MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES?: The place seemed to be being run only by the husband of the team (wife out of town for the holidays?). And he said that while they used to have 4 employees, they had lost them all. Still, they're running a business that caters to the public. There are no excuses for some of the problems. At this point, we wouldn't recommend the place. read more

I love B&Bs but I was not very impressed with this one. The room was small but okay. The bed was super creaky and it was a bit smaller than a queen sized bed. I didn't quite like the services offered. For breakfast they made us wait for quite sometime because there were no empty tables. The food was plated but it was way too sugary for breakfast(french toast). There was no choice of what we wanted for breakfast, we couldn't even choose the portion. breakfast was very heavy and I didn't like it at all. Generally in the other B&Bs that I have stayed at, they have some variety to choose from. Also I had read in other reviews about their Oreo cookies etc. We weren't offered any. It was like we could have stayed in a hotel for much cheaper. Not coming back here. read more

This our 4th visit in 10 years. We fell in love with the great accomodations and friendly service of this B&B on our very first visit. We generally go in the fall, after the crazy Door County tourist season. This year we went earlier and found that many of the shops were closing down for the season after that weekend. Back to the White Lace..Stayed in the Hadley House, room C. Our room was a bit pricey. BUT we hardly go anywhere, so we treated ourselves. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Room was quiet. Fireplace made things very warm. Food is the best anywhere! Dennis and Bonnie are great hosts and are more than willing to direct new and old to the great spots in the Door. We will definitely be returning sometime in the future. read more

I have never been to a bed and breakfast before and this place has exceeded all of my expectations. Very very clean place. The bed was very comfortable and the old world charm was in full effect. Every time I hear a radio ad with Dennis I cringe. Our experience at White Lace Inn was horrible and humiliating. I will never stay there! The room that we had was fine, however there was no chain lock or security bolt which enabled the maid to just walk in on us at 9 am. Dennis just dismissed us and rudely walked away. This was a few years ago, but the embarrassment lingers and the way Dennis blew us off was horrible. Avoid this place. read more

The decor is nice but the hospitality stinks. I would never recommend coming here. The "breakfast" they make has NO taste. While I enjoyed my time alone with my husband the inn was dusty, & no soap nor shampoo were provided. I will never recommend not come back.
