After my visit, I can honestly say he is the real deal. He is thorough and will go over your whole dental history in order to answer all your questions. I had to have an old, huge Mercury containing filling drilled out today, and it was honestly pain free. He is the first dentist to ever tell me not to swallow, due to the Mercury, and so frequently suctioned, that I didn't feel I was drowning. He recognized that this was a huge ordeal for me, (and him), and frequently stopped so that I could relax my jaw, and even massaged my jaw to help lessen the ordeal. I do not have Dental Insurance, but I am paying pretty similar to my copayment, when I had I dental insurance, through my deceased husband. I will never go to another dentist in the U.S.

They were super sweet getting me in. On the day of my appointment, I showed up and just the dentist was there. He went into this long story about his assistant not being in and she had family business....that her dad was in town...ya-de-ya -de... like a care. But I smiled and nodded. ..that's okay. He said, she should be shortly, so let's get you started. He got me in the chair and we went over why I was there. He wanted to start on the x-rays, so he had me assist him in holding tools. ...and then his machine started giving out. I spent 30 minutes waiting for him to keep fixing the x-ray machine. Finally we got the shots so he took them to the other room to develop. In the meantime, the phone was ringing off the wall and I spent another 20 minutes just waiting for him. He mentioned the x-rays didn't come out like he wanted...but from what he could tell. ...what he could tell? WTF?! We agreed I needed work done and I told him I would schedule the appointment...then I got up to leave. With my insurance, I don't need to pay for the first visit and basic treatments. ...but he said he needed to charge me $25.00. I just started at my company and I have new insurance....so he could have been right. ...I could have missed something when I was looking over my charges. ...so I paid the $25. He said... okay, thanks. I asked, where is my receipt? He said with his assistant out, she'd have to do it when she got back. I left feeling very weirded out. I called my insurance company and asked them about the $25 and they said I shouldn't have paid anything. They called the dentist for me, telling them. After that, I just felt too uncomfortable to keep my future appointment. A day later I called the office to see how I can get my $25 back. The assistant that answered responded with...well, we need to make sure we get paid first. (RUDELY) It's probably going to be a month. I didn't feel like going any further with her, so I said whatever. ...Just send it when you can.

He even does cleanings himself instead of turfing them to a hygienist. I've never seen that before. I am terrified of dental work and I was very worried that the oral sedation he recommended would not keep me in the chair. But it worked perfectly, it was the most relaxed I've ever been at the dentist, and it was definitely more effective than nitrous. I had a couple of fillings and the removal of a wisdom tooth with no discomfort or anxiety at all. I just lay there listening to music through my headphones, it was over before I knew it, and I really don't remember that much about it (just as he promised!). His assistant Renee is excellent as well, very compassionate. Dr. Gordon is also available 24 hours a day for emergencies, which hopefully I won't need but is nice to know. I'm very pleased with his care and will certainly return.

The reviews I read about Dr. Lubritz and his staff led me to make an appointment. Right away I found the office fun? and relaxed, and I found him to be kind and gentle and he and his staff have effectively saved me from surgery. I have had gum disease for years, and at the time I found Dr. Lubritz my only option was gum scraping, and deep cleaning that was expensive and hurt like the dickens, and many times it caused infection on top of the problems I was having. Dr. Lubritz has arrested the damage I myself was doing by teaching me the correct way to floss and use a toothbrush. Odd that at my age, I was using these everyday tools incorrectly, and was furthering the damage, in my overzealous efforts to get the pain and infection to stop. I have been to many dentists, oral surgeons and hygienists in my life and this is the first periodontist I have tried. None of my practitioners even suggested I see one. I found Dr. Lubritz just in time to save my teeth and jaw from decay and surgery. I wish every adult in Houston would visit Dr. Lubritz for a simple checkup, as the pain and fear of dentists (periodontists) would evaporate on the first visit. Most problems initiate in the gums, and the gums can tell the story of what is really hurting your teeth and may even indicate other health problems, if the Dr. examining you has the patience and experience to translate the indicators into an effective treatment. Every patient is different, granted, but the food we eat today, has us all in a lingering state of gum infection, that we just live with everyday. I had orthodontics and a few months after removal, my new teeth configuration caused my gum to pull away from one tooth. He also identified another area that I hadn't noticed. Dr. Lubritz evaluated me and gave me his recommendation, and no more. He didn't power sell me to do more and was very complimentary and honest about the care and condition of my teeth and gums, and I left his office feeling confident and thankful.
