A first time visit with a few friends for their Tuesday burger and beer combo, which was excellent in the portions were very good. We had the buffalo wings and the garlic Parm wings there were excellent as well and the beers as well as the non-alcoholic beers were excellent and and having a great ambience of sitting out back and overlooking the farm was great it made for a great visit. Skyline Beer Company is a craft brewery and restaurant that opened in Westfield, Massachusetts in 2014. It was founded by friends and business partners Lisa Pac and Daniel Osella. Beginning in 2002, Pac and Osella began getting together on weekends to homebrew and create food pairings. Pac brewed the beer while Osella (a chef) crafted the food pairings. In 2014, the duo launched 'Skyline Hop Shop' as an alternating proprietorship operation inside Westfield River Brewing Company at 707 College Highway. Osella offered fresh food that paired well with WRB's brews while Pac offered home brewing classes and supplies. They quickly outgrew the space and reopened as 'Skyline Trading Company' at 124 Elm Street in 2016. At this location, Pac and Osello expanded their menu both of food and beer, adding craft whiskey and tequila to the mix. After outgrowing their space again, the partners moved to 98 Southwick Road and reopened as 'Skyline Beer Company' in December 2019. Head brewer Dana Bishop came on board as additional partner, and Coy Chaney was hired as the Assistant Brew Master. The current 4,500-square-foot restaurant and taproom offers 24 rotating draught lines, cocktails, a full food menu, and beautiful views of the rolling hills of Western Mass. I recently visited Skyline Beer Company while I was cycling on the nearby Columbia Greenway Rail Trail. Skyline was on my list of breweries to try for a while, so I decided to stop by for some beers and bites. The taproom and restaurant was spacious and inviting with plenty of seating both inside and outside. I opted to sit outside and began to look over their extensive beer and food menu. I ordered a sampler flight that included "Forget Me Not" (New England Pale Ale), "Up In Smoke" (New England IPA), "Listening Juice" (Double IPA), and "Mother Ocean" (New England IPA). For food, I ordered a plate of delicious "Pretzel Bites & Cheesy Sauce". I really enjoyed all of the beers that I tried, but "Up In Smoke" (with delicious notes of grapefruit and marshmallow) was easily my favorite! I ended up ordering a full pour of it before leaving. First time to Skyline. They have an expanded menu from when they first opened on North Elm. Full bar so you're not limited to beer. The French onion soup was fantastic. Melted cheese and the soup was made fresh. I opted for the hotdog since I wasn't very hungry. My dining companion had the burger with the jalapeños. According to the menu, the meat is provided by the local butcher shop. Shop local! He enjoyed it very much. We will be back. Server was attentive and brought out everything as it was ready. Been here twice recently after a few years of not stopping in because their beer was like oddly warm and grossed me out. First time popping back was about two weeks ago. We went in for dinner and sat inside. We were one of two tables inside while everyone else was outside. The service was incredibly slow but I was pleasantly surprised with the beer quality and variety in addition to mixed drinks. I got the Buffalo wrap which was definitely..not Buffalo and spicier than hell, but I have a tolerance. Chicken wasn't anything fancy, looked like it came in frozen and pre-breaded and was kinda dry. Second time, this past Friday, we decided to sit outside. The view was gorgeous, but it took 15 minutes to get a server to take our order. Somehow the two people who walked in behind me and sat adjacent to us had beer before we placed an order and gotten food short after that. I got the chicken bacon wrap and my husband got the caprese sandwich. Right off the bat something seemed off with our server, she just seemed miserable. She was very short with us. After about 45 minutes we asked where our food was because the people next to us had already drank, eaten and cashed out. The server didn't remember what we got, and when we told her I could clearly see her ringing in the order for the first time. We told her to cancel the appetizer because we had now been there for dinner for an hour and had no food. The waitress made no acknowledgement that she forgot to ring our order in and then just said the next round was "on her." She never took any of the empty cups, napkins or plates which kind of ruined the view. It's unfortunate because I like that they try to use locally sourced ingredients and the location is beautiful, but I won't be back. I haven't been so close to walking out of a place in my life. Even to get the check was an absurd wait, we spent almost two hours here for dinner and literally ordered beer, sandwiches and wraps, not a seven course dinner. We couldn't even get the server to come back to run the card, had to go to the bar and request to cash out. Ridiculous. With Great Awakening next door who also has a beer garden, great beer and a smaller but better menu in addition to Tin Bridge and Bright Ideas with way better service and a variety of food trucks, I don't need to go there. read more

Sure, you can have friendly servers and brewery-appropriate staple foods that have worked for you since you opened, but you should really lead with the outdoor patio. When this location used to be Fowler Farms, the back patio was never used (why?!), and the large seating area on the back patio is one of my favorite places at any brewery. The patio overlooks an old farm field facing east, so watching the moon rise is stunning . There is also a large tent area that is used when it gets busier, and helps protect against the sun and other elements. I personally like to come here to get the vegetarian chili, sour cream, cheese, and the everything pretzel with scallion cream cheese. They also have roasted cauliflower and other vegetable sides if you really aren't into eating heavy when you come out for a beer, but still want that little bit of something to munch on. You'll notice that some of their beers are named after local outdoor places or hiking references, which, for those who know me, is no surprise that I would naturally like this place.. I also want to point out, that this is one of the few breweries in the area that offers other types of alcohol other than the beer they make. They also have different Cider and GF drink options alongside other bar liquor staples. The patio is also set up so it's easy to mingle around and chat with people you know, which is what makes it a good place to have a small business gathering or bridal shower. We made our first visit to Skyline Beer today, but actually it was our second visit to the building, because in 2012 Zuber's Ice Cream was here and we picked up a few cones. We absolutely loved everything about our visit to Skyline! How about 18 beers on draft? How about a full kitchen that cranks out some delicious goods at a fair price? How about a delightful server like Elise? And how about one of the very sweetest things I have every seen at a brewery- a "Pay It Forward" board where you pre-pay gift beers or food for future customers. I tell ya, that humanitarian practice almost brought a tear to my eyes. I had a $6 pint of Summa Slamma -an American Pale Ale with a hint of Pineapple weighing in at 5% ABV. It was very refreshing and very drinkable. I mentioned they have a full kitchen - they serve sandwiches, salads, mac and cheese, soft pretzels in half a dozen styles, and appetizers. We went for an Everything Bagel seasoned pretzel served with scallion cream cheese ($7) and an order of Roast Cauliflower served with Marinara Dipping Sauce ($8). They were both a perfect accompaniment to our beer and hard cider! Add in live music, a store for home brewers (lots of hops and grins) and the wonderful service we had from Elise, and we know we've found a very special place not too far from where we live. read more

We needed to kill a couple hours so stopped in here - it was a little chilly, so we skipped the nice looking patio and opted for inside. The small inside has several tables, one long high table, comfortable enough. We ordered a couple of beers and the hard watermelon lime kombucha, all were delicious! We got a pretzel with honey mustard - it was a little overbaked, but tasty and salty. The rest of the menu looked good, and the beer list is extensive (they also have wine, hard seltzer and kombucha) The only con was I wish we could have just gone up to the bar and ordered instead of waiting on the server. I understand for outside, but inside you are literally 5 steps from the bar. Minor complaint when the beer was so good! I highly recommend the Chubby Blonde milkstout :) read more

I love the location, view and that I can bring my pup. We have gone here many times and left hoping next time would be better :( They really need a good manager, we wait... and wait for our bill every time. Ordered fish dinner a couple months ago and was given a sandwich and told "oh well, it is cheaper anyway" ordered a brownie sundae last night with NO BROWNIE and then was given an attitude when I asked for another THAT I NEVER GOT. The waitress was extremely rude. It is hard to tell who is working, some waitstaff are wearing Skyline T-shirts some are wearing flowered tops, one even wears scrubs. Nice young waiter last night, Tom is also nice. The waitress that said Oh well about the fish dinner was also rude last night. Service here was great! Everyone was very friendly. I didn't actually try any of the beer yet, but everyone who did liked what they got. The pretzels are very good, but not necessarily the typical pretzels you get elsewhere. The sea salt pretzel and beer cheese were good - but the smaller portion of beer cheese is cold. If you want hot beer cheese it's a separate order that you can add a pretzel to. My husband loves the flatbreads. My favorite part was the cinnamon sugar pretzel and icing. Local, homemade, homegrown, done right and always feels like home! This is a hometown place run by hometown people who have poured their hearts and souls into Skyline Beer Company. This is one of the only businesses I've seen not only succeed but EXPAND several times since opening! Everything in the kitchen is scratch made. The menu is creative comfort with an emphasis on bacon. How can you go wrong??? They also have GF and Vegetarian options! These guys are known for their giant homemade pretzels, but my go-to is the Crazier Danish flat bread or the beer cheese dip. Get one of each! The tap list is unmatched in Westfield. Unmatched by any of the surrounding towns, frankly. But the real gem here is their own beer. You've gotta try the Bushwhacker, the Vitamin A and the First Flight. It's hazy, New England juice brewed right here in Hampden County! Cans and growlers to go! Looking forward to hanging out on the back patio and enjoying the best view in town when the weather warms up. If you haven't been to Skyline, you've gotta check it out! Beer actually so damn good! So good! If you're just drinking. Maybe this is an okay option. Food and service very poor (being nice). We had cauliflower that had absolutely no seasoning on it and was seemingly completely uncut and I just don't know why they would serve anything like that. We also ordered a sandwich that was on a specialty menu and to be honest, I only ate the whole thing because I was starving otherwise I would have sent it back. We haven't returned since we met another couple here for burgers and beer last fall. Shortly after our food arrived, we were asked to move so that a band could set up. You'd think they wouldn't have seated us there to begin with, knowing their band would arrive within a half hour. Regardless, we politely picked up our plates and moved without issue. Then they started screeching through huge speakers, wholly unnecessary for the venue and we gobbled down our food and got out. I went last night with a family member for supper. Limited menu but what we had we both enjoyed. One menu item has pizza in the name but it really isn't... so caution with that. Bottom line, the burgers were amazing. Cooked absolutely perfect and juicy. Roll could have been warmed and toasted more but that's a minor detail. Each had a side salad and it was substantial with a very good house dressing that was a light vinaigrette. The pretzels with beer cheese sauce was very good also. Had a couple of dark brown beers and they were not too hoppy and had a good malt background. Waitress was very attentive and explained everything well. It was extremely difficult to hear across the table with my dining partner. And we were sitting at one of the shared tables and could speak somewhere closer to each other. This presents a challenge to going again. what good is it to have good food but not enjoy the company of who you are with. For that reason I lowered my rating from a 5 to a 3. read more

We've been there twice now and there's a reason you sometimes have to wait. The beer is excellent and the food is right up there. Also, I don't think I've found better customer service anywhere. Tonight my husband is going to grab and go, along with a growler of the Wobbly. You can't help saying "That's so good" on the first couple of sips. My husband ordered the homemade pretzel with the cheese. I'm not a pretzel fan and it was a big surprise. Just the best kind of comfort food. Our friend is lactose intolerant, they made sure nothing had any "hidden" dairy. She ordered the pulled pork sandwich and said "very good." This is the 4th local craft brewery we've been to.
