I spoke directly with Dr. Hank before traveling from Boston about my follow up and additional treatment so it could be handled during the same visit. I then arrived and found out he was not there. Your office told me he was in training and couldn't get out of it. Dr. Hank later told me he had a plumbing emergency at home. Those are two completely different explanations, and that's exactly why this felt misleading. Dr. Hank's text that "if travel and provider availability are important factors to you" is frankly absurd. Travel and provider availability should be important factors to every patient. That is not some unreasonable or unique concern of mine. Whether a patient is local or flying in, clear communication about who will be available and what to expect is basic professionalism. There are plenty of aesthetic practices that can perform these treatments. That is not the point. This was a follow up related to treatment I had already done with Dr. Hank, which is exactly why I flew in. Trying to reframe this as though I should simply go elsewhere completely misses the issue. As someone who also works in healthcare, I find the nonchalant handling of this especially concerning. Aesthetic practice or not, patients still deserve honesty, continuity, clear communication, and respect for their time. What's most concerning is not that something came up. It's the inconsistent explanations, the dismissive response, and the attempt to minimize a very valid complaint instead of just owning what happened. That's not a misunderstanding. That's poor communication and poor customer service.

As soon as my cousin and I walked in, we were greeted politely by the employees at the front. However, once we made our way into the store, the experience completely changed. A blonde, white woman who appeared to be a manager (this was around 4:30-5:00 p.m.) repeatedly stared at us as we walked through different aisles. At one point, I stopped to smell a body mist. I looked up and noticed two employees watching my cousin and me. When I made eye contact, they continued to watch us. I then noticed another employee on the other side of the aisle, stocking merchandise while also keeping an eye on us. Altogether, there were three employees two Black women and one white woman who seemed to be monitoring us throughout our visit. To make matters worse, we were asked if we needed help every few minutes. While I understand that customer service is part of the job, the constant attention, combined with being watched throughout the store, made it feel like we were being profiled rather than assisted. I am not a thief. I am a paying customer who came in to shop like everyone else. Being made to feel suspicious simply for browsing was disrespectful and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, this experience confirmed why I had not returned to this location in two years. I will not be shopping at this Ulta again, and based on this experience, I have no interest in visiting any Ulta location in the future. When I got her that night, her hair was just washed and blow-dried with the appearance of lint. She didn't touch her hair until the next day. I believe she put other customers in front of her. She told me curls would hold and her hair was not easy. Her bang did their own thing after removing the wrap holder at 4:30 pm that she put in place after leaving the shop. My point is if she did not want to do my child's hair, she should have stated that in conversation and text before the appointment was made. I truly thought it was another shop I booked my appointment with until I compared the addresses. For my daughter's first hair salon experience, I felt sad in my own feelings, but I know my princess loved it.
