Both of my breasts are uncomfortable and the scar beneath one breast is really pretty horrible. Additionally, my nipples face different directions, are shaped differently and one isn't centered. She dismissed all my concerns. Told me my psoriasis would just keep coming back so I could get a topical cream if I really wanted one but really it's just a temporary fix. I was told my hair thinning was just something I'd have to live with, wasn't aware of light technology or much success with any other products. Didn't suggest even getting any lab tests etc...nothing just told me to live with it basically. Then I asked about under eye dark circles and she said they're shadows and no one pays attention to them. Try concealer but otherwise there's no fix. I was in shock. I couldn't honestly believe after waiting two months for an appointment that she dismissed me like that. I'd never recommend her to anyone and am already looking for another as it was a complete waste of my time and a co-pay, so disappointing.

He's one of those primary care doctors who chose primary care because they believe in it, not because they couldn't get into dermatology or surgery. He went to MIT for undergraduate and worked at MIT in computer science before computers were widespread, and he went back to medical school after a successful career in computer science. He's located at GBMC, and it's easy to get lab tests downstairs. Now that I've moved away, I'm having trouble finding a doctor who even comes close to measuring up.

Now I go to a doctor who sees me for 15 minutes, doesn't even listen to my heart or lungs even though I have had hypertension for 25 years, and double pneumonia twice, and throws me out of my office (times up!) before I can get my prescriptions refilled. I had a partial knee replacement with Dr. Silverstein in 2020, and it was a terrible experience…read more The worst medical experience of my life. Having the surgery done in Northwest Hospital was a terrible mistake, and I ended up filing a formal complaint against the hospital for dreadful treatment by the nurses. Dr. Silverstein spent all of 30 seconds checking on me post-op in the hospital, and I sent him a copy of my Northwest Hospital complaint via letter because I thought he would want the full story of what a terrible experience it was. He didn't seem to care, and never acknowledged the letter. Message received: patients don't matter. Later, he said something to the effect of, "Sorry my response was not to your satisfaction." That was a laugh, because there was no response at all, nor any acknowledgment whatsoever. When I got hold of the hospital notes for my surgery through Northwest later, it was eye-opening in how I was discussed. I never went back to Dr. Silverstein because of being totally ignored and a poor result from my surgery. Zero trust. Beware! And whatever you do, I warn you to look up all the reviews of Northwest Hospital. My experience there was a nightmare.

No attempt to establish any type or patient/physician relationship. I described the only issue I have been having, and he prescribed me an anti-depressant because it would also help with my symptoms, although I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms associated with depression. Understandable that medicine can be used for treatment of other things. Totally irresponsible to prescribe me a new medication that is known to have side effects that can alter your brain chemistry and then tell me to schedule a follow-up in ONE YEAR. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the rest of the staff was fantastic

We've been with Clinical Associates since the mid '90's. I like my primary care physicians and the…read moreother specialists I've seen at the site. However, over the last 6 months, I have experienced MANY office communication problems. This is across the board with specialists and primary care physicians. The providers' staff DO NOT return phone calls or respond to messages. I had to physically walk into the back of my primary doctor's office, (without an appointment, and no one at the front desk) to get a referral for PT after calling four times with the request. The nurse was concerned she hadn't gotten the messages, and I showed her my call log to verify the contacts. This is just one example, we have had three other concerning encounters involving cancelled appointments (on their end), records not being forwarded to specialists outside the site, and an inability to schedule or reschedule appointments as no one returns our calls. Primary doctors and nurse practitioners retire or resign and there are no replacements, the existing doctors are stretched thin. We unfortunately, after 30+ years, will be looking for a location.

I scheduled this appointment because I have been struggling with a persistent scalp condition that has not improved despite using medicated shampoos and following treatment recommendations. I came looking for answers and a treatment plan. Instead, I left feeling stereotyped, judged, and disrespected. The visit began with the physician looking at my chart and asking his medical assistant how to pronounce my first name. They went back and forth about it while I sat there before I eventually said it myself. If he was unsure, he could have simply asked me directly. The appointment quickly shifted to questions about how often I wash my hair. While that can be a reasonable medical question, the conversation repeatedly focused on assumptions about Black women's hair care practices and whether Black women follow treatment plans. I repeatedly explained that I wash my hair, use medicated shampoos, and follow directions, including allowing treatments to sit as instructed. My reason for seeking care was that these measures were not resolving the problem. What frustrated me most was that I did not feel my concerns were being evaluated before assumptions were made. Rather than focusing on why my condition persisted despite treatment, the physician repeatedly questioned whether I would follow recommendations. At one point, after making a recommendation, he told me I probably was not going to follow it anyway. I responded that this was a very presumptuous statement. He denied making assumptions despite having just made one. I told him directly not to stereotype me and repeatedly attempted to redirect the discussion back to treatment options. Instead of feeling heard, I felt dismissed. Another concerning moment occurred when he told me not to leave and discuss his comments with the front desk staff. I told him that if I had a concern, I would address it directly with him, which I did throughout the visit. My 17-year-old daughter was present and witnessed the interaction. She was disturbed by the way I was spoken to and uncomfortable with the tone of the visit. During both of our appointments, the medical assistant repeatedly attempted to excuse the physician's behavior by saying he was "just joking" and that he was "good at his job." She also encouraged us to overlook his comments because he had helped clear her own skin. Patients should not need staff members to explain away or justify a physician's conduct. To be fair, I was given prescriptions and a treatment plan. My concern is not that I left without treatment. My concern is that the interaction was so negative and unprofessional that it undermined my trust in the physician. Trust is a critical part of healthcare, and once it is lost, it becomes difficult to feel confident in the care being provided. I have worked in healthcare for years and have never had a provider speak to me in this manner. Clinical knowledge is important, but so are professionalism, respect, communication, and cultural awareness. Patients deserve all of those things. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and I will be seeking care elsewhere.
