I've been going to Helene for the past several years. She' gives the best massage I've come on in my life and I've gone to some pretty reputable masseuse's. I'm a chiropractor and I know about muscles and technique she always delivers . She's professional sweet and does what she needs to do. She can find every spot you have that's causing you pain. I was badly in need of a massage when I stopped by this little shop on Main Ave. I didn't know what to expect since there were no other reviews up, but I was able to get a massage without an appointment... which should have been my first indication that I shouldn't have gone here. White Oak's masseuses use Oriental-style massage, which I've never had before, but wound up leaving me more sore than when I started. The price was decent, but not worth the pain it evoked. I'm really ticklish and the masseuse kept laughing whenever a giggle or yelp of pain escaped me. It felt very unprofessional. The masseuse also did not use any oil, so a lot of the massage felt unnecessarily painful when she used a lot of force. Only reason this gets 2 stars is because of price, convenience and general friendliness of the staff. They wanted so badly for me to like it there; they gave me tea (though no time to drink it). read more

I love this place. Hey, it's not the Ritz Carlton but they give you a decent massage for a great price. I can always get in-probably because of the two bad reviews previously posted. I have been going here for several years and get massages regularly. I have been to fancy resort spas and spent 3 times the price for a massage. I was in heaven for about an hour after those massages but my pocketbook stung. This is a massage place not a Spa. It is comfortable, not shady/creepy, the staff is very friendly and it is reasonably priced. You feel really good and relaxed when you leave. read more

The massage was decent. When it came time to pay I asked if I could add a tip to my credit card which I was using to pay for the service. I was told yes and to tell them the amount I wish to add as a tip. I asked that they add $12. For reference that would have been a 20% tip. They proceeded to charge my card $23 for a tip on top of the service charge, a total of $83. I was confused and honestly a little embarrassed thinking perhaps it was a language barrier. I decided to let it go as I didn't want to complain and also didn't have confidence the error would be corrected. In hindsight I feel this must have been done purposely as I can't imagine how $12 was mistaken for $23, as it was communicated verbally or when punching in the amount on the key pad. For this reason I will never return to this establishment. read more

Went here yesterday with my husband and it was not a great experience. When I called to make a couples massage appointment for 6 pm and the lady on the phone said "ok i made your appointment" but she didn't ask my name or anything. I asked if there were any restrictions because of Covid and she said no just come. When we got there...‍ the lady said "only appointment" and I responded "i called and made an appointment for 6 pm" and her response was "oh that was you ok come". Neither lady gave their name and I had to ask twice for their name. She led us to the rooms and said we can't do couple massage because of government restrictions. Annoyed I had to let it be known that I asked those questions prior to making the appointment. I was about to walk out because there was no way I was doing a couples massage without my husband. Helen finally waved and said "ok we'll put you in the same room". Reluctantly we went into the room and could hear the two women talking. When they came back to the room you could tell the women were a little irritated. They began the massages and didn't even ask where we wanted the focus to be. I've had massages in the past and i never left there in more pain that i started. My beck and shoulders are sensitive to touch after the massage. They even left the door to the massage room open and said that they'll leave it open because they have no more appointments and because there was 4 people in the room they wanted airflow so they locked the front door. She clearly didn't tell the truth because I heard the chimes from the front door because a man walked in and Helen ran to the front door to tell them they're closed. Talk about unconventional. What a mess. At the end when it was time to pay, we tipped them 20 each and there still seemed to be an extra 12 added to the bill. I asked what it was for and she clearly didn't understand. I just left it as is. I will never come back here. Way too much nonsense. I need a massage from dealing with this place. read more

The massages are professional and therapeutic. They have a couple's room for couple's massages. The place is very clean and the music is relaxing. They have 2 to 4 therapists working everyday so you get to choose which one to massage you. Everytime I go there for shoulder and back pain and knots, they disappear after the session. They have coupons on their website, www.whiteoakmassage.com. Replying to Lauren, you have to ask for which type of massage you want to get. If you don't usually get massages and you ask for deep tissue massage, of course you are going to be sore for a few days. It is not the therapist's fault that you did not ask for the right kind of massage for yourself. Next time you know, you need to get a Swedish massage. I have had the same experience in New York. Since then, I don't ask for deep tissue massages. The therapists there do use an even amout of oil and lotion. The store is usually very busy on weekends. read more

Better massage place than most. You have your own room rather than curtains as a wall. Kelly was great with her massage, at first I asked for medium pressure but changed it to hard & she did a great job. $60 for an hour massage is not bad, there are cheaper place but of course I prefer my own massage room. I visited this place 2 years ago and grabbed a 1hour deep tissue massage. The total bill was $60 for the hour. Well worth it btw. On my way out upon signing my credit card and leaving a $15 cash tip the masseuse asked me for a bigger tip! I threw down an extra $5 leaving the grand total for the tip $20 on a $60 massage. I chalked it up as unprofessional and left with a bad experience. Stupid me flashback to yesterday and my lower back was in desperate need of a massage. I went to massage envy first but they were booked solid. The only other place near me within a 10 mile radius was White Oak. I said to myself "self, maybe that girl will not be there this time and your experience will be better." When i walked in this really nice girl introduced herself to me as "Helen". I said i would like a 1 hour massage. 1 hour turned into 1and a half hours since the message was so great. Upon leaving I was nervous because I wasn't sure if "Helen" was the "extra tip girl" from 2 years ago. My bill was $90. I wrote $20 in the tip line on the credit card slip when I noticed a finger pointing to the 2 in the tip line as she asked me to change the 2 into a 3 as in $30 TIP. I again like an idiot gave her an extra $5 in cash and left PISSED OFF. I like to avoid confrontation as i'd rather just spread the word of their practices than make a scene. $20 tip on $90 massage is PLENTY where ever your from. That's more than 20%. Very unprofessional and I ask all smart people to avoid this happening to them. read more

We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and both masseurs were attentive to us, checked to see if the pressure was too much, and did a very thorough job. I went to White Oak massage while on vacation in Norfolk. I made a same day appointment a couple hours beforehand . Nice, serene, relaxing atmosphere, on the smaller side building wise. They were very friendly and welcoming. I was taken back immediatly for my service. I received a massage and a full body scrub with lavendar aroma therapy. My massage was very good and so was the body scrub which was performed very gently (fyi). The therapist was friendly and attentive to my needs during the massage. I took a shower after the body scrub. It was small and seemed clean but there was hair on the tile flooring outside of the shower like it needed to be swept. If I was a germaphobe that def would of freaked me out, that and the fact that they gave me some random mens slippers to use to walk to the shower in, which looked used. Other than that however, I enjoyed my spell at the spa. I would make a few suggestions to management but i'd definately go back again and just bring my own flip flops. My massage was followed by a steaming hot cup of green tea and some nice conversation from the owner. Recommended if you just want somewhere quiet, fairly known (as to not battle with "overcrowdedness"), with good service. If you have any concerns or comments just talk to them, the situation may be easily resolvable. read more
