It was the pandemic, of course, and pre-vaccines, so I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was such an unpleasant experience to see her that I stopped going and found another specialist at a different practice (who was fantastic). Unfortunately, the fantastic specialist at the different practice retired and when I called Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates to make an appointment with someone other than Dr. Diamond for another issue, I was told that was not possible. The receptionist transferred me to her supervisor, who confirmed that about a year ago (2025?), Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates implemented a new policy whereby patients who have previously seen one of the doctors in the practice cannot make another appointment with a different doctor in the practice. The supervisor asked if I had filed a complaint in Fall 2020. I replied that I had not, it was the pandemic, I was in pain and could barely walk, and that I simply voted with my feet and never returned. The supervisor then suggested that I give Dr. Diamond "a second chance." I said that another doctor I see for other issues had confirmed that Dr. Diamond's reputation has worsened in recent years, so I would not see her again. It's frustrating that Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, the largest practice of its kind in the area, has this policy because the DMV is an increasingly aging population and there are many of us who need to see a rheumatologist we like and trust.

I admit, I was very skeptical, but the practice is so efficient and friendly, I'm recommending them to the Yelp DC community! And I"m very fussy about health care (I'm from Boston, what can I say--it's the best city in the US for health care!) The one item I was hesitant about--it's a common problem in the DC metro area--is you won't get an MD, you'll be seen by a Physician's Assistant. But--I lost my primary care MD 5 years ago, so started calling practices, GW MFA, etc., a year ago to find a new MD. Forget about it. I started calling again recently, hoping there were doctors available. Nope. There is NOTHING out there--I had estimates of waiting times of several MONTHS for an appointment with an MD. No one offered an appointment with an NP or a PA. A few places wouldn't even put me on for a wait list appointment! It's dire. I had no choice but to sign up at One Medical, which btw was recommended by two friends with high standards for doctors. There is another potential issue, that it's only general practice, no specialists. But they do a lot of the requisite tests, blood tests, etc. I already have my specialists, so it's not a problem for me. And my PA is excellent. She is pretty young, but very well trained, very smart, and responsive. And you can tell she likes her job! More good things about Farragut Square OneMed. I"ve been several times since joining a few months ago, and I've NEVER had a wait. The front desk folks, the techs, the medical professionals? All excellent, very personable, and polite. What a change from some other DC medical practices! They take insurance--and if you're not insured, they will figure it out. Also, they are so tech forward, everything is very easy to accomplish, and not stressful. No waiting on hold! Again, what a change. Anyway, if you need a primary care MD, and can't find anyone, give one of these practices a try. If you don't like them, you can leave.

Now to book a physical with my doctor, I needed to book 5 weeks out. To get an appointment for an illness, the next available on the app is over a week from now. A more traditional doctor, I could call and ask to be seen same day. But no one answers messages on the app anymore. I'm trying to switch practices but no one will answer me through the app how to cancel my membership. If you are looking for premium care and service, this is definitely not it anymore. PS: do yourself a favor and sort the comments by "newest first" -- you can pinpoint exactly when things went downhill. All the positive reviews are over a year old.

Long story short, do not go here. I have a chronic illness that, given recent a recent deterioration in condition, requires regular infusions. I found Arise through a google search because my doctor operates in VA and the centers he regularly recommends are not close to me (I live in DC). I reached out to Arise and followed the steps I was given to schedule an initial infusion - which involved having my doctor send the order and sharing my insurance information. Several weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. I checked back and was told by the benefits coordinator that the insurance approval process was still ongoing. As things approached the one-month mark, I checked in with my doctor and he confirmed that the approval/scheduling process was taking an unusually long amount of time. Because of the severity of my condition, it is important to get these infusions scheduled as quickly as possible. After several check in calls from me, I received a call back from the benefits coordinator and she told me that insurance DID approve my claim, but that she couldn't yet schedule me, without explaining why. She said that she would call me back soon to schedule an initial appointment. Another week went by so I called back. The same benefits coordinator told me that she needed one more code. I asked why she didn't call to let me know, she told me it was company policy to go through the doctor. This didn't make any sense to me. So I called Blue Cross (my insurer) to check on what they needed and they told me they had no record of any approval request. The Blue Cross rep checked all three of their possible systems, and said there was zero record of any outreach from Arise. I called Arise back and asked to talk with a supervisor, and was sent to someone senior to the benefits coordinator. This more senior person checked my record and confirmed that no action had been taken over the past month - my insurance had not been contacted and there was no approval. This more senior staff member was apologetic, and said the company would look into what happened. In the end this was a month of critical time wasted, on top of the deep disrespect of being directly lied to. If this company's front-end administration is this big of a mess, I wouldn't trust them with the injecting of powerful drugs.

I asked to be on the waiting list and was told there is't one but lucky me, I can keep calling back to see if there are cancellations. Dr. Katz, if you read this, do you realize what your cancellation has done to me? I am sick. I called you because you are rated highly by other Doctors. Do you care even a little bit that your office makes me wait 10 more weeks when you cancel on me???? So cold. I cannot wait to meet you and tell you to your face what I think as that is the only reason I took the appointment in June. UPDATE! Dr. Kimbrough was extremely patient in dealing with any issue or concern I threw at him. One Medical Group is membership-based primary care. It costs $199/year, but is worth every cent (and then some). It's kind of like a medical "start-up" done right. Online scheduling, really long appointments, nice offices. Check 'em out.
