Also everytime I came in they tried to get me to buy a electric toothbrush, (they sell them) they did this to my wife also. They canceled appointments twice the day before my appointment, so that's when I figured I'd find someone else. Update; I have a found new dentist and I'm very happy... Short: Dr Trejo and the team at the Eagle location are absolutely wonderful and incredibly ethical. Call Now. Long: It was the Thursday before Memorial day weekend and I had been preparing a veggie tray for a party. I had heard one odd crunch but, ya know carrots, whatever. Until it was time for bed. I brushed and had an increasing ache. I thought for sure I must have cracked a tooth! I was in a near panic. I might have to wait until Monday? Would I get an infection? Lose a tooth? I found a place in town that opened at 6:30AM and you can bet I was there - only to find out the DR wouldn't be taking appointments until 1:30PM, MAYBE I could get looked at today but I was told "The next appointment to TRY to fix it would be June 22!?" "Try?" People go a month with a cracked tooth? All I could think was that would be an infection for sure! In a panic I went home and started calling everyone - then (and I wish I knew her name!) a lovely admin at the Emerald location said they were closed but there was an appointment at the Eagle location in an hour. She said she would call and tell them I was on my way and would likely be late (Now I know everyone says it's "only 45 min to Boise" but apparently I drive slow? ) Can I tell you these people are the NICEST, like Trader Joe's nice! Every last one of them, from the lady who saw me at the wrong door, let me in and walked me through the office because the back door is in the front (What?! LOL! Don't whip in and park closest to Eagle like I did, go past there then around to the left.) The ladies in the waiting room to the hygienist who took my x rays and got me settled in. Everyone was so upbeat and friendly. Then I met Dr Trejo. He was incredibly kind. And it was at that moment that I learned you can BRUISE a tooth. Did you know that? Is this common knowledge? Sure, logical, teeth have nerves too but I struggled to believe him, LOL! Don't tell him but I googled it in the car, I really thought maybe he was just trying to help me not feel dumb. Of course I was equally relieved and so embarrassed. (Again, it's me feeling dumb all on my own they were so very kind) I happily paid that $150 thanking my lucky stars because how much is a crown? Sure enough it ached for the next day or two but it's fine now. Also, I should mention if you do not have dental insurance they have a $33 a month plan and it does give an additional 20% off any additional work. Unfortunately, being a good dentist and standing behind the products you make for your patients are two very different things. More than two years ago, Dr. Grant made me an implant-mounted denture that cost me more than $8,500. From the very beginning, it never stayed securely in place while eating. Dr. Grant was fully aware of this problem. In fact, for the vast majority of the past two-plus years, I have been forced to use my old denture because it was the only one that would actually stay in place. I finally became frustrated enough to go back yesterday. Dr. Grant told me that the rings responsible for holding the denture in place needed to be replaced. He then stated that I had gotten "well over a year" of use out of the original rings. That statement is simply not true, and he knew it. In the more than two years since this denture was made, I have probably been able to use it for maybe a month total--and even during that month, the denture repeatedly popped out while I was eating. That hardly constitutes getting more than a year of use out of the rings. What disappoints me most isn't even the $250 charge to replace them. It's the principle. More than $8,500 was paid ffor a product that never performed properly, and instead of standing behind his work and making it right, I was charged another $250 for a component that, in my opinion, should have been addressed a long time ago. I have no problem paying for something when it has been properly made and has provided the service I paid for. But when an $8,500+ dental appliance doesn't work as intended from the beginning--and the dentist knows it--I believe the right thing to do is stand behind the product and the work. Dr. Grant may be an excellent dentist, but unfortunately, my experience has left me questioning whether he stands behind the products he provides to his patients. And that is a very disappointing realization after having trusted him with something that cost more than $8,500. I called them and they said that my insurance didn't cover all their expenses. I asked why this was the first bill I've received.... They didn't have a good answer. I should have just received a bill after the first cleaning, but I didn't. The whole thing seems sketchy to me.

She caused me pain from the moment she touched me until the owner took over. She could not seem to give me the right amount of numbing medication at any of the 4 times I saw her. The crown did not fit at all and had to be remade 2 times. Even after the 2nd crown was made I had to go back 2 more times to get it adjusted by the owner. AVOID THIS PLACES AT ALL COSTS. I AM NOW TERRIFIED OF GOING TO THE DENTIST. My new dentist asked for my x-rays. The first phone call they stated they had no x-rays. The second phone call they had x-rays. They sent over 6 x-rays for which 4 of them were from another patient. I had to pay my new dentist for x-rays I didn't need because Riverview is so incompetent.

Went to this dentist based on reviews, At the my appointment I was met by "Hanna" the dental…read morehygienist. After taking me on a tour of the practice (nice) we went into her room. "Hanna" explained what she was going to do and what to expect. I immediately asked if everything was going to be covered by my insurance? She replied "don't worry, we will bill your insurance company for you." Not what I asked! After taking my dental x-rays she told me now I am "going to do a 3-D of my mouth." I again asked if this procedure was covered by my insurance and again "Hanna" said "it should be, we do them all the time." Afterwards the dentist came in and reviewed the x-ray and 3-D images with me. He asked what brought me in today and I responded "a check-up and a cleaning." I also mentioned some "food traps" by my left side molars. My medical history included Squamous Cell Cancer of my throat which included a total radical neck and radiation therapy. Due to the radiation, there was integrity loss of my tissue which added to the "food traps". He pointed out a small cavity on a right molar, but never suggested I schedule a follow-up to take care of it. He did mention I should consider having my "silver fillings" replaced with composite material. He then asked the hygienist how my exam was going and was informed she had just started it. She then proceeded to measure the depth of my gums which was "6-5-6" back towards my molars and points to periodontitis. She said she was going to talk to the dentist as she was "on the fence" about doing a regular cleaning. After a few minutes she returned and said she and the dentist agreed on a "deep cleaning" which would include anesthetics (e.g. lidocaine). I told her that I have had cleaning without anesthetics and we can proceed. She commented "I only have 17 minutes left on this appointment" and that she would have to reschedule me. She was informed that I was leaving on Thursday (7/21/23) morning and would not retuning until the end of September. She brought the dentist in, and I explained that I only wanted a basic cleaning and my timeframe did not allow me to reschedule. "Hanna" then asked me if I would be willing to go another office location which was "5 minutes away" as they said they could fit me in for my cleaning. Upon agreeing i stopped by the "check out desk" and asked what I owned and she responded "we will bill your insurance company." With in 5 minutes I was at the other office and informed them I was sent to have my teeth cleaned. With in a few minutes I was brought back my a hygienist. She informed my that she only 90 mins to do my cleaning. When I asked why she said "deep cleaning" normally takes two visits. When I asked if my insurance it covered it and how much out of pocket it was going to cost me? She told me to hang on and left the room. She returned shortly with another lady who explained that the cost was about $1,000. She stated that they bill in "quadrants" and that it costs $259 per quadrant. When I asked how much my insurance would cover "she said I don't know" and when I asked how my out of pocket it was going to cost. She immediately stated "If you are going to be rude than you can leave." WHICH I DID. Upon reaching my house I called my insurance company and asked some questions: 1) the 3-D films ARE NOT considered basic services and therefore ARE NOT COVERED. 2) the dental clinic should have put in a pre-authorization for the "deep cleaning" and they would have known my out-of-pocket expenses. Interestingly, a line from Ted Lasso is one that people should be aware of; he points out that people often make assumptions about other people and nobody asks what they do. You see, I had spent 36 years in Emergency Medicine as a Physician Assistant (PA) as a practitioner and educator. Additional I have a PhD in Psychology. My career introduced me to a young lady 35 years ago working as an ER Tech who is now a CEO of a Health System and my wife. A formal complaint of ethics and providing false information for financial gain has been filed with the State of Idaho Board of Dentistry.
