Unfortunately the snow was too slushy from the sun (end of March) so we were sliding all over the place. No fun. So we stayed on the main, paved rail trail. Great, sturdy bikes! I don't ever write a review but in this case I feel I was taken advantage of. I wonder if it is because I am from out of state but I have been a long time resident of PC and purchased a number of bikes and gear from WPT, i.e. a happy customer for many years. However in this transaction, I dropped my mtn bike off to get cleaned and told the service person to top off my brake fluid due to soft brakes. I also specifically said I just had the brakes bled and the softness was probably due to coming from a low elevation. Instead of doing as instructed he went ahead and did a full brake bleed and did not call to ask if I approved the additional labor. When I questioned it he said that there is no way to add fluid w/out a full bleed. I have had fluid added in the past w/out a full bleed. He just walked away. Sorry to say but I am no longer a supporter of WPT and will not go back when I visit PC again. read more

Utah offers so many different experiences when visiting Park City. When I saw Fat Bike Tours, I jumped at this experience and booked it. For us, it was close to the hotel. Quick check-in. Hanz was our guide and he called the night before to prepare us. I'm not a biker, my husband is. I did up hill and took a long break. But it was a beautiful break with amazing views, lovely people, friendly pups...they kept on riding & had a blast! We stopped by White Pine today to pick up touring skis for a friend who had called ahead and confirmed we could pick them up on his behalf. The rental manager who was working the front desk could not have been more rude out of the gate - he told us there was no way to get them without 72 hours notice, that our friend had to be there in person and said there's no way he called and spoke to someone who said otherwise. Totally understand the store having policies but 1) they should have given accurate info on the phone and 2) his tone was so unwelcoming. We planned to also rent snow shoes but didn't want to give this business a dime. Ended up having the best experience at Silver Star Ski Shop up the road - 10/10. read more

Not sure what has happened to the bike shop over the last few years. The last few times I've been in to the shop, I get an 'eye roll / yeah we are busy. But, today was the icing on the cake - I have never been so underwhelmed and unwelcomed in a bike shop before (historically, I always went to WPT because I liked the wrenches, and they always took good care of my bikes...but, now? Wow, where did all the nice, kind, welcoming mechanics go?) Of course, being a female I always anticipate a poor experience when I walk into a bike shop, but, when two of the clueless male employees tried to mansplain the bike industry to me (which I happen to work in), and no one could give me a direct answer. I was simply trying to find a bike box, and have a bike packed. I also was not greeted with a "hello" "how can I help", I literally had to ask the employee fumbling about outside if he worked there. I really enjoyed when I was told if I went to another shop, bought a box from "said other shop" and brought it to them that they would pack it for me. Why wouldn't I just simply give the other shop my business if they HAVE the box, and are willing to do the work? This all comes with, we had called days earlier and were told 'no problem, bring it in! We are not busy!' So disappointed. One of the worst customer experiences I could have had. read more

Great bike shop right on the Rail Trail. Super friendly staff, always trying to help, especially in these Covid times. I will miss the monthly bbq over the summer - lets hope for next year! I scheduled a Fat Tire Snow Biking tour with White Pine not knowing exactly what to expect. What a great experience! My guide, Julie, called me the day before to find out cycling experience (road biker), what I was looking to do during our ride...and she counseled me about what to wear. When I arrived, Julie was there to greet along with friendly in store staff to get me set up. The bike looked like it was almost brand new. (Always nice to have well maintained rental equipment.) Our tour started on the trail right in back of the store. (No need to schlep somewhere just to start.) Julie is exactly what you want in a guide. Friendly, high-energy, and adapts the tour based on your ability. Shortly after starting, we did a short single-track to check my skills in the snow. (Hint: make every effort to stay in the track...if you go outside the packed line, you might sink and stop. Restarting in deep snow is not easy.) After a few teachable moments in the deep stuff, I got the hang of it. This meant that Julie was able to take advantage of all that the trails had to offer. A lot of single track trails, manageable uphills, great vistas, a GREAT downhill, and a lot of laughs. A total of 10 miles in the snow. Could not have asked for a better experience. My wife and I booked a 3 hour guided mountain bike tour. Our guide, Victoria, called us the night before to discuss our skill level and where we might like to ride. She ascertained our skill level and set us up on a trail that not only matched our ability, but had incredible scenery as well. She was very knowledgeable of the area and gave great tips on riding the area. The bikes provide were awesome as well. We had a great experience. I have a group of 8+ friends who want to go mountain biking and called to see if we could join their group ride. I thought this would be great for beginners and a good way to expose us to mountain biking but it wasn't. When I called, their employee spent 15 minutes dissecting the group's ability, see who owned bikes (if you didn't own bikes, then he wouldn't recommend us going), my riding experience/which dirt trails I have been on/how often I rode (which he deemed too entry-level even though I've been a few times). All in all, it was a bad experience just having our abilities scrutinized. I understand employees are to ask questions to assess abilities but this was to a point of digging in to object and point out reasons why we should not join. This type of customer service was not welcoming or friendly. He wasn't nice or understanding even after I pointed out the fact that more than half of us own mountain bikes and I have a few who are expert/intermediate level. He kept saying we should take individual lessons but I asked a few times regarding a fun biking group which is open to all levels (I heard PCMarc has one). He said he wouldn't recommend White Pine Touring. Needless to say, I'm sure this place would be good if you're advanced but anything less than that means you aren't welcomed and should look at another bike shop or rec group. read more

White Pine has been great to me since I moved to town 2 years ago. I bought both a mountain bike and a full backcountry ski setup and both experiences were great. The staff was always happy to chat and let me know all of my options as well as having demos to try before buying. The prices are great when you factor in the level of service they provide. I paid MSRP for my bike which isn't anything special but that got me a free service as well as discounting the demo rental fee. They provided much more value than hunting out a deal and buying online. I also got a crazy discount on my ski setup since it was end of season, but again the staff was super helpful and listed to all my questions and helped me make the right choice. read more

My guide, Tim, was very flexible in coming up with a plan for the day which matched what I wanted for the day (a combination of some trail riding with some work on skills). Wow what a fun time! I took a private ride with guide Hank and had the best time! Hank was knowledgeable about the area and even had a literal hand in building some of the MB trails! He helped me regain my MB confidence and he altered the course as we went based on my abilities and energy level! I was able to just enjoy and not worry about any of the details. I did the 3hr beginner mountain bike tour with Dylan. It was for my bachelor party. (Yeah that's right, I had my bachelor party in Utah. Wanna fight about it?) Pros: great tour guide, Dylan. Highly recommend him. Before the actual tour, we hit up a grass field to practice. I highly recommend taking that grass field seriously. Play around with the brakes to get a good feel. I'll tell you right now...if you're out of shape, don't bother going on the mountain bike tour. It's three hours and it can be grueling if you don't have the body/cardio for it. Also, Dylan watches you (in a non-creepy way) to give you suggestions on how to maneuver around the tour. Super helpful! Cons: it can get hot. Bring water. I fell three times so be prepared to take a tumble. Tuck that chin in and get up slow if you can. Overall: This tour was one of the best experiences in my life. I highly recommend it. Also, I was pretty hungover. So, if you're going to do this, remember to get a good nights rest before. Trust me, you will get a good nights rest after. :) thanks Dylan! read more

My buddy and I reserved a half day guided mountain bike tour. We stopped in the shop the day before and talked with Collin who was very helpful including where to hike when we weren't biking. Art called us the evening before to get an idea of what we were looking for and our experience/fitness. Though we weren't beginners neither were we used to serious trails and the altitude. Art suggested we get shuttled to mid mountain and he'd kind of figure out what was best from there. The next morning we arrived and met Art. Our bikes were waiting and perfectly set up. We were then shuttled up to the mid mountain trails. Art was great. He kept an eye on us and kept us on fun trails we could handle. Our only problem was I got pretty winded on just about every uphill. Art went ahead with my buddy so he had a good time and simply waited for me to catch up every so often. Great time, glad we did it. read more

Ok, I will give them a bit of a break because they were having issues with a new computer installation that seemed to be distracting them. However, I walked around the store for over 10 minutes, 3 or 4 employees walked past me and didn't acknowledge me, and it appeared another person waited 10 minutes to buy a simple bike brake cable. Overall, the store is very nice and the closest thing to a true bike shop that I could fine in Park City. Nice level of inventory and displayed nicely. read more

I was in Park City for 2 days with a group of 4 guys. We booked an all-day guided rock climbing trip and rented mountain bikes and did a 1/2 day guided trip at White Pine Touring. We had a fabulous time. Our rock climbing guide, Francis, was amazing, tailoring a variety of climbs to our skill levels, giving us great advice for scaling the cliff and was just generally fun, so he definitely enhanced our day. On our mountain bike tour, one of the bike's clip pedals broke during the last 3rd of our ride and our guide was unable to fix it on the mountain. White Pine credited us for that being a bad experience. I'd recommend the company. read more

She brought an inside look into the Park City culture. For example, local stories growing up here, the history about the mining culture, and she showed us the beautiful locals trails in the Deer Valley area. These guys are the greatest! I know Park City is known for their skiing and boarding, But I've found thatI enjoy getting away from the crowds (and the 79.00 lift ticket) and checking out more of mother nature. Since I mistakenly borrowed out my snowshoes the same weekend I was going to be in PC, I needed shoes and trail advice and by providence stumbled upon White Pine Touring. I guess staying at the PC Marriott on the far end of town was key for I never would have found the place if I had been staying close to the lifts. Renting shoes for only 15/day the first 2 days and 7.50 each day after, My boyfriend and I ended up snowshoeing everyday in addition to boarding and snow biking (later story). The guys gave us some trail tips, with many starting literally outside their door at the RailTrail, a pancake flat bike tail that heads out of town and links to a network of single track biking trails including Gambel Oak, April Mtn. Foxtail and Prospector's Loop. It was great having access to some hills so close and, being able to bomb straight down the hills in some sweet powder. Just watch crossing Deer Valley at Aerie Dr.- NOT FOR PEDESTRIANS! I do have to admit the Atlas shoes they rent are far inferior to my MSR's but they still held up to some aggressive shoeing and provided some extra float to ski down the hills. As a bonus I spotted a Surly Pugsley, a monster of a bike with 3.7" tires for blobbin' in snow and sand, and rented it out for a morning session of some switchback snowfun. On the flats it feels like biking with a 100lb sack of concrete behind you, but how often can you bike in powder on switchbacks? Anyhoo- If you are in PC and want to get some decent rental equipment (or grab that sweet Prior split-board they have in the corner) great backcountry advice, not have to deal with the Versace clad green- run boarder looking for a gold plated snowboard leash, this is the place to go. read more

Our group spent about 2 hours on a guided mountain biking tour with Jeff and Dylan, and it was really awesome. Besides the beautiful views of Park City, Jeff and Dylan provided excellent instruction on how to manage the bike on the various terrains. It was a good mix of exercise and recreation. I struggled between a 2 & 3 star review for WPT. I have been in there and had some good customer service and I think they have a great selection of equipment. But, I took my bike to get serviced there and had a horrible experience. I dropped my bike off to get the rear hub service and a couple days later I got a message that they did a bunch of work that I did not ask them to do and that they tried to fix the hub (the reason I brought the bike in) and couldn't. I came in and they told me 'it is not advisable' to ride the bike. I asked why then am I picking up the bike and the guy said they didn't have any room for it and then charged me close to $70 bucks to get my broken bike back. I ended taken the bike to Endurance Cycles and they were really friendly and got the bike fixed. read more

I rented a full suspension bike for some serious trail riding in the mountains. The quality of bikes they have are top notch. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about mountain and road biking. They also know a lot about the trails in the area and are happy to give advice. They do a free Thursday night ride which I highly recommend. It you don't know anything about the area I would look into getting a guide for a day. It's worth it. Next time I come to PC I will be coming back for sure. read more

I went on a mountain biking tour and could not have been happier. I have never gone mountain biking but I have gone road biking a lot and am a skier so I understand the concept of mountain biking. I showed up and was luckily the only one at my tour time (awesome luck for me) and my tour guide, Louis, was the nicest. After we got out there he made sure that I knew the basics while we were on the road and he kept trying to relate what he was teaching me to what I already knew which was awesome and very helpful. He was also extremely supportive and easy to talk to when we were out on the trail. Since I just moved to the area he gave me some historical history about the area as well as some other stories. For the entire time we went at my pace which was awesome because I am slower when I go downhill and I never felt pressured to go faster. I really enjoyed all the little tips and tricks he gave me and I really felt as though I improved throughout the entire 2 hours. It was the perfect amount of time for a beginner to start to learn mountain biking and I was glad I was the only one so that I could really have the individual attention. I don't know if they do larger tour groups since I went during a slow time in the season but it was really nice to have the individualized attention. I would definitely go back or even do another class through them. I really enjoyed my time and would recommend them to all of my friends and family. read more

I had a perfect experience! The group class for cross country skiing was small, and the instructor was terrific. He was very patient, and understood where each student was coming from based on their age, level of fitness, and confidence. After an hour, I was good to go on the 5 km easy course. The setting is spectacular! Beautiful mountains all around, and clear sunny skies. Other skiers were very polite as well. Some must've been born on skis, while others like me were enjoying themselves on their first day. Whatever your age or ability, you will have an outstanding experience here. read more
