White Rock Lake is one of my favorite places to unplug and reset. The trail is very clean, clearly marked, and perfect for both bikers and walkers, so everything flows smoothly without feeling crowded. There's always plenty of wildlife to spot along the way, including this adorable little fur baby in the video attached. I love coming out here to soak in nature, get some fresh air, and completely remove myself from the noise of the world for a while. This review coming from a woman who adores an out and back but this solid 9 mile loop can really hold its own to one. I love that if you needed to hop on the hampster wheel you could loop this bad boy 2,3,4+x and get in some respectable mileage. I've only looped it once which imo is a pretty lame but it is what it is. I have a much closer out and back route that I can hit for higher mileage without driving which will always be my preference. I have however been on this trail twice in the past month, once for the marathon and a week or so later when my son came to visit. It is a gorgeous run, but I have a water feature and lovely trees/wildlife on my local trail near me, so the trade off is driving which is hard to justify unless I loop it at least twice (coming soon). Parking is free, terrain varies over bridges, gravel, smoother concrete, areas of dirt trail etc. If you have any outdoor enthusiasts in town for a visit, it's a solid option to get them outdoors. read more

Had a great Saturday walking White Rock Lake Trail on a brisk morning! The view and ease of the trail made my whole morning; it was great weather all around, and I truly enjoyed seeing so many people there enjoying the trail for their personal preferences. I will add that I did not walk the full trail, which I believe is right at 17 miles, but I was out there for 2 hours, enjoying the steps I could get in. I would like to return soon, while we still have such brisk, beautiful weekend mornings. read more

This is a great trail at White Rock Lake!! Plenty of parking around the lake, and the trail was clean and wide. I was only in Dallas a short while, and needed a place to get my run in, everyone highly recommended this place. The bathrooms here are port a pottys, so there's that, probably the only thing I didn't like about it here. But it didn't take away from how nice this place was. I wish I had more time to run farther here, maybe next time!! read more

The trail takes us about a 1-1.5 hours to casually complete by bike. In some areas the trail branches off into different trails. Some of the trails don't have the greatest pavement, but it makes you feel like your off-roading a little! Overall, White Rock Lake is a great place to bike, walk, run, bring your dog, etc. They also have a really nice dog park with lake access! I just wish this was closer to home! read more

200th review here it goes, this place deserves my 200th! Came here and went hiking. It is so great, the trails the peaceful the wildlife and all the different sounds to here. It's truly a great place to go hike and just to get outside and enjoy the day! Time always goes by fast cause you get lost in the trails and what you are doing and seeing. So much greenery right now, so very colorful. You hear things you don't hear everyday on the trails which is very intriguing. It's very beautiful if you like to see nature. This is nature at full effect! So fun! It's in between houses and you would never imagine that while your on the trails. Of course I'm coming back, the weather is great and the view is amazing! Such a beautiful area. I've lived in Dallas 7 years and just went to White Rock Lake for the first time. It was 70 degrees out so the scenery was filled with kids playing, couples picnicking, bikers, families and joggers. I can't wait for the warmer weather so I can make this a regular location to visit. read more

Unplug. WRL trail is the ultimate place to do just that. Whether you are biking, hiking or running in the area (or just sightseeing here coming to view the sky) there is a little something for everyone. Parking is not too terrible, I would say arrive early especially on the weekends to score you a spot. I much prefer parking at a different location and running TO the lake...and hey you get some extra miles and burn extra calories if you do just that! This is also a perfect sunrise spot. If I lived closer I would absolutely be here every other day. But I venture out on weekends to enjoy and it makes it more special because I have to make a special trip. I think the area is also improving crime wise (not sure of stats) they have stepped up patrols for sure and making sure park goers are safe and secure. Bring friends or loved ones to come out here and enjoy nature. Getting some sun this time of year will improve your mood and your everyday life. So...go DO IT! Thank me later. read more

This is a good area to take a stroll or cycle. The pavement is mostly leveled cement with multiple free parking lots.

Am an outdoor person and this place is great amazingly beautiful. I often enjoy walking and the 9+ miles around has a magnificent view and scenery. I hate the fact that people trash the place including that floating in the lake. A little more trash cans will be of help to help clean the place and maybe some lights especially when it gets dark especially during time change as it gets dark fast. One of the best trails in the area. 9.33 miles is the official length but you can add and adjust the length with the adjoining trails. It is a combination of concrete and asphalt. This trail circles the lake and there are parking lots around it. There are also water fountains with some having cooling showers around the lake. These do get turned off during the winter months. Some even have dog watering bowls attached. There are a few dispersed benches, lots of trees, and a few picnic tables. Obviously on busy park days, many of these are in use. The park is open from 5 AM until 11 PM. Tickets may be issued if in the park after hours. While on the trail, you will find lots of runners, walkers, hikers,strollers, cyclists and pets being walked. The entire course has markers for use with 911 calls. There are portapotties spread about. read more

My favorite trail in Dallas, it's super safe it's huge it's pretty you got the lake so you're always getting that good breeze it's perfect for biking and hiking. Bring water toilet paper and you're good to go if you need to use the restroom there are porta potty's. They are gross but watever lol. read more

If your a tourist. Don't try to walk the whole lake.haha It's like when you go to New York, don't spend the whole day trying to see Central Park. But the park is totally worth visiting. Especially that there is an arboretum next to it so you can visit that too. Don't stay to late. It's like any other place in the world. Be cautions where you are going. read more

White rock Lake trail -- Its a awesome place for so many reasons. But I Mainly run/walk/bike here-- to start at the lot from the santa fe trail to connect to the lake trail and to go around the lake entirely you knock off 10 plus miles -- the trails are in great condition. Not well lighted for dark tho. To bike whiterock is a breeze but its a challenge if you want to ride the connected trails -- one can easy put in a 50 mile day without leaving the city of Dallas-- my goal for 2018 read more

Having grown up in beautiful West Texas and not exposed to any bodies of water like this, having this as an option in the Dallas area it's such a joy. For me I've always been a bike rider never a walker or a runner this place fits all those three needs. It's clean it's well-kept and you feel safe while you're trotting along. It's about 10 miles all around and if you're looking for a place just to ride and take your kids I think this place fits perfectly. Everybody around here is pretty courteous despite everyone pretty much having headphones on. Paths are clearly marked. I d try to get out here is many times I can because I feel so at ease not worrying about getting ran over but distracted drivers. There's also plenty of areas where you can have a picnic and play with your kids and watch the sunset. It's really beautiful get out here anytime you can especially right now while the weather is perfect. I almost forgot to mention that if you're into sailing or kayaking or paddle boating they have that out here too. read more
