It includes both active and passive areas although the emphasis is on active pursuits. Four lighted regulation adult softball diamonds with spectator seating and flagpoles at the ball diamond entrance, two youth sized ball diamonds, twelve soccer fields, a soccer concession/restroom building, four tennis courts, a large community built playscape, a jogging/exercise trail, walking/biking trail through the woods at the north end of the property, approximately 80 acres of restored native prairie grass, a skate park for skateboarding and inline skating, a pond with a spray fountain and two sand volleyball courts are found on the developed part of the park. Winter recreation activity areas include an outdoor ice skating on the pond located near a sledding hill. Paved parking lots provide parking for approximately 200 vehicles. Picnic shelters with cooking grills near the playground equipment offer respite from the active areas. The ball diamonds are serviced by a two-story concession building with a food concession and restrooms on the lower level and a scorekeeping loft on the upper level. Drinking fountains are available at the picnic shelter area, and at the ball diamond concession and the soccer concession areas. The City offers community garden plots for rent where local residents may grow fresh vegetables and fruits within the undeveloped part of the site.

Right on the river is this large riverfront playground. I love going to The Market for a bite to eat at The Garden and walking the paths. I have been to so many events here and they are always so perfect and well done. There is so much space and it's all very well maintained. A splash pad, ice skating and rollerblading ribbon, super cool playgrounds, concert area and so much more! I have yet to do the ribbon as I'm afraid some kid is going to run me over (lol) otherwise I always look forward to all of the happenings this park has to offer.

The W.W. Knight Nature Preserve is a great example of what the Wood County Park District has to…read moreoffer. Located in Perrysburg, this 44-acre preserve features a mix of environments, with woods, prairies, a large pond, and the Nature Center, a modern mixed-use building. Three different trails are available. The short one circles the fishing pond, with plenty of benches for sitting and relaxing. The medium trail goes through the prairie, around the parking lots, and over the southern pedestrian bridge crossing the pond. The longer trail goes through the Wet Woods, often on boardwalk, giving you a good sense for what the Great Black Swamp was like back in the day. In total, the trails are just over 1.5 miles in length. The Nature Playscape was located near the start of the Wet Woods Trail, and gave my daughters a great place to explore nature and play in the woods without me having to worry about them getting lost. Parking was easy at the preserve, with a large paved lot on the southern end of the preserve. The restrooms were clean and modern, located inside the Nature Center.

Muddy but fun! My…read morekids love digging around and collecting rocks. I took them to fossil park and everyone had a great time. The park is easy to find. It has a nice pavilion for eating lunch and restrooms. There is a nice walking section around the park. The fossil area is easy to get to with many signs explaining what to look for. My kids were excited that they found fossils right away. Mostly shell looking fossils plus some pieces of coral. We each brought home a small bag of items to sort through. Since everything was money it was hard to rinse anything off there so we had to wait until we get home to see what we found. Lots of things that we still need to research. Highly recommend them adding a sluice style washing area like the gem mining setups you see at campgrounds. Plus a great playground.
