Their studio had moved about two blocks down the street, but I still had the wrong address (completely on me). She made sure I knew how to get to the new location and even which side of the building to park on. Even though we started late, she was still able to perform my full one hour massage. I was extremely relaxed the entire time. The music was gorgeous and had me picturing beautiful nature scenes. I had to fight the urge to fall asleep a few times. I left feeling calm and serene. I felt more limber. The back and hip pain I had before going was gone. I would absolutely go back. It's therapeutic, intentional, and results-driven. Exactly what I want. Heajin specializes in Thai and lymphatic massage, and she is phenomenal. Thai massage is more like assisted stretching, and she incorporates it beautifully. She also took time to explain lymphatic flow, gave me tips on how to support it at home, and clearly cares about long-term wellbeing, not just the session itself. One thing to note: at Unwind, therapists may get on the table with you, especially for Thai or deep tissue work. That's part of the technique and something to be aware of if you're new to that style, but for me it speaks to how seriously they take proper body mechanics and effectiveness. The space is calm, professional, and welcoming, and the level of skill here is outstanding. The service was completely unskilled: rushed, inconsistent, lacking rhythm, and missing the foundational techniques that define a competent, professional massage therapist. A skilled therapist uses intentional pressure, consistent/proper flow, and an understanding of muscle anatomy to create a therapeutic and cohesive experience none of which were present. Realizing the session was doing more harm than good, I made the decision to end it and leave. The front desk staff clearly knew something had gone wrong, as my early departure was obviously due to dissatisfaction. Yet I was still charged $139. Not only is that unreasonable, but deeply unprofessional. When I called for clarification, I was met with a scripted cancellation-policy explanation given by the same employee who witnessed me ending the service early and leaving the studio upset. Only after pressing for details was I told I'd need to speak with a manager. The entire interaction was dismissive, confusing, and frankly, insulting. I am sometimes skeptical when smaller masseuses do deep tissue but Evelyn really got to the knots. I was trying to fight sleep the whole massage. When I go back, I will definitely ask for her again! When I got out of the massage, I had water and a coupon to the Cakeroom bakery waiting for me. This was such a nice treat and an amazing way to enter year 29. It seemed like they were ok with this nightmare of a soul working there in a space of healing for so long. I lost money on this and it's been years and I still have triggers of thinking about how terrible the service and the masseuse was.
