Came here for her first time for a 60min Swedish massage. Total was $90. What's hot - Quality. With the exception of the cranial work, which I explain below, everything went well. Ian is communicative to get feedback about your preferences about the pressure. I really enjoyed the pressure he applied! He uses his whole arm in the process, including his forearm and elbow. He also stretched me out (somewhat similar to a Thai massage), which helped relieve some of my tension. When he found the areas of my body, where there was tension, he spent a little more time focusing on that area. Again, it helped relieve pressure and tension. - Time. No skimping on the time, which is wonderful! Between the time I arrived, talked to him about my issues, and leaving, I was there for about 1.5hrs. Ian listened to me, asked thoughtful and appropriate questions about my preferences, pressure, his method, etc.... - Location. It's in an easy-to-find location and there's a small parking lot, which is helpful. Keep in mind, his space is a single office in a small building. You see the sign outside of the building, but you'll need to find the specific office on the second floor. Inside is comfortable. There's a small couch, the massage table, his desk, and a few other pieces of furniture. He keeps the lighting low, which is comfortable. - Price. Pretty reasonable given the time and quality. It's a little high for me, but to be fair, it's not as high as larger establishments and spas. - Health and safety. I arrived wearing a mask and he asked me if I prefer him to wear a mask. I appreciate his consideration. During this time of the pandemic, I appreciate those who will take appropriate precautions when interacting with the public. What's not - Quality. Cranial work. Given the issues I have with my body, Ian suggested cranial work. He explained the method to me and I agreed to trying it. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me. If you're the type where pressure is more important to you, I don't recommend this option. - Doesn't work on Sundays. He's a solo practitioner, so he sets his own hours, which is fair. Unfortunately, it's inconvenient for me, because weekends are when I have the time for this. - Traffic noise. He plays soft music during the massage. Unfortunately, you can hear the traffic and outside noise at times. It's not the worse problem to have and he doesn't have control over that, but it can be somewhat annoying, because it breaks through your focus of the massage. I had been experiencing extreme soreness and tightness in my upper neck for several days and decided to go on Groupon to seek a massage therapist near me. It was seriously unbearable! I went through several businesses and Groupon reviews and made several calls for same-day availability before booking with Ian. Luckily, he had a slot open for late morning and was able to take me. Ian is extremely professional and has hands of gold. His space is simple, clean, and relaxing. While I was a bit skeptical at first, he really was able to massage the soreness away. He is not rough (reason for my skepticism) yet applies the perfect pressure. I left his space feeling freer and happier. I got a Groupon for discounted service and booked a 90-minute massage. Ian is great. Scheduling is very easy (might just be me being introvert, but I really appreciate it when businesses use an online system instead of phone calls only). The place is a bit of a hole in the wall (literally on the second floor of an office building), and do note that there is no waiting space outside (Ian did mention on his website that if the door is locked, do not knock). However, the massage itself is really impressive. It's the full 90 mins I signed up for and a few extra minutes, and he really focused on my problem areas (neck and lower back). The pressure was great, and the SCM palpation when I'm supine at the end was heavenly (for some reason, most therapists I've worked with skip this muscle). Definitely would recommend! read more

He really listens to your concerns and customizes his treatments to your trouble areas, while also managing to work every area during a full body massage. I always like to save my 100-mark reviews for a positive experience, and I'm happy to put my *500th review* (!!!) to Ian at Intuition Massage! I found him via Groupon, pretty much the only way I have been able to afford massages the past few years. It's always a bit of a crapshoot with Groupon massages and my experience has leaned more towards "meh" for these found massages. However, I was really happy it led me to Intuition. He was very easy-going with a good sense of humor, communicative, and the massage was on point. He takes time to do some stretches as well, which didn't feel like a waste of time at all. Ian also held true to a 60 minute massage (not 45 minutes, or 50 minutes, or even 55 minutes which is such a pet-peeve of mine that other places employ - I got the FULL 60 minutes!! He is personable and easy to talk with, and always remains professional without being stuffy. His studio is in a very unassuming building above a hair salon (though you don't hear/smell the salon at all). It's walking distance from the W. Hyattsville metro, too. The studio, while only one room, is cozy and clean, and his massage table is heated and very comfortable. I've already told two of my neighbors about him since we all live relatively close by! Also, as a woman, I can say I appreciated that he remained professional and, I know this sounds weird but I have to put it out there because it matters to me from past experience with other male masseuses - he doesn't have hairy forearms, so when he's massaging your back with his arms, you don't have that ick factor (if you're sensitive to that kind of thing like me, which has been enough to ruin a good massage for me before, you'll appreciate this random tidbit of knowledge ;) read more

Yes, I come away from each massage feeling relaxed; but what is more important to me is that Ian tailors each session to target the problem area. Ian understands the musculature of the human body. I used to be plagued with shoulder, hip, and back pain from sports injuries. I was about to give up on massage therapy when I discovered Ian five years ago. Since then, I have faithfully and regularly put myself in his hands. While I am sure he can have a light touch as needed by a client, he provides the level of deep tissue pressure I need to release muscle tension.
