I had been to Shine Massage and Wellness Studio before the pandemic a couple of times, and returned again today for the first time in years. Sally was extremely accommodating, professional and friendly. When I hadn't showed up 5 minutes into our appointment, she reached out with a very personalized text message to make sure I was not lost. Their studio had moved about two blocks down the street, but I still had the wrong address (completely on me). She made sure I knew how to get to the new location and even which side of the building to park on. Even though we started late, she was still able to perform my full one hour massage. I was extremely relaxed the entire time. The music was gorgeous and had me picturing beautiful nature scenes. I had to fight the urge to fall asleep a few times. I left feeling calm and serene. I felt more limber. The back and hip pain I had before going was gone. I would absolutely go back. If you are looking for a less commercial spa feel and more of a crystals, chakra, warm vibe, this is a great place for you. The parking is ample as well, but is metro accessible too. read more

The thing I love about Shine is that they let you know everything upfront from information, appointment details, policies, and expectations. Once you're in the door, they still follow strict hygienic guidelines in order to prevent the spread of illnesses, but with enough positive energy to get you into a relaxed mood. Sarah was amazing and really helped make my first time here an awesome one. They made it a safe space for me to feel comfortable enough to ask any questions and concerns. Before our appointment, Sally sat down with me, asked me questions - she actually had read my full intake form and took the time to listen. Jessica was amazing. I went in for a cranial massage (don't recal the technical name for it) due to chronic headaches and was surprised at the knowledge and relief she was able to provide. I don't want to post a review because this place is so wonderful, but on the other hand, everyone should know about Shine Massage and Wellness. Not only are they convenient to the University of Maryland campus, making it easy for people who work at or attend the university to pop by at lunch or for an end of the day massage. Sarah is magical and I regularly fall asleep on my visits- in fact, I woke myself up at my most recent massage because I was snoring! Her calm demeanor relaxes me out as soon as I arrive and she takes the time to begin every session by checking in on my needs. I always leave feeling relaxed and recharged. First, I am so pleased to finally see businesses coming to Riverdale Park. I called Shine to see if they had a last minute appointment available, which they unfortunately did not (totally my fault), but Sally pointed me to her website and I made an appointment through there for the following week. It was simple and easy, clearly lists the services and prices as well. Sally's studio is small, in the back of an office building, but it is beautifully decorated and cozy. Very clean and neat. Lots of free parking. Now, onto the massage itself. I'm an athlete and have been having IT band problems, which she and I discussed. She was very thorough in her questioning and evaluation. I am always skeptical about trying out new therapists, but I'm glad I did. She hit the exact areas we discussed without neglecting the rest of my body. She also used warm towels, which was a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the scalp massage, if I were a millionaire, I'd pay for every day! I've been getting massages here since 2014 with Sally, Renee, and Michelle. They are flexible with scheduling massages. The location is cozy, relaxing, and beautifully decorated. Some of the decorations are by local artists. I've gotten the various massages provided at some point or another. I have always felt comfortable, and they have always been very responsive to what needs to be focused or what pressure is comfortable. I always leave feeling relaxed, and refreshed. Omni was a great masseuse! I had a spasm in my lower back that she worked out during out 90 minute Swedish/deep tissue session. The ambiance was very peaceful and I felt so relaxed. Great first massage experience! I was a little unsure about what to expect, but Sarah did an amazing job making sure I was comfortable the whole time. I have spondylosisthesis (spinal fractures and slippage) which has been causing flareups in pain lately, so I thought getting a massage would help relax my muscles and relieve the pain.
