The houses are well maintained. The staff are excellent and caring and kind very transparent, and I loved my experience there.

This is the best rehab I've ever been too. Every single counselor in this place is emotionally invested in each client. You can just tell they all care so much. The food is excellent. Let me tell you something I kicked and screamed in the very beginning and Esther Gibson if you're lucky to have her as your counselor she'll fight for you. I am a currently a resident of the women's program and this place is saving my life. The counselors are all great and caring. They help you with everything. The owner is a magnificent man that really cares about the clients and house. The house is spotless, very clean, and comfy. We have a support dog who's the best ever. Whiteside Manor is the best rehab I have ever been to (this is my second) and I'm sure this is going to be my last from all the knowledge and information I'm getting about recovery. I was a resident of Whiteside Manor a little more than a year ago, and compared to other treatment centers I've been to this one tops them easily. The staff takes the time to get to know you and work on things you specifically need. Relapse prevention is a huge topic over there and I can say that I'm extremely grateful to them for my sobriety. I was here for about 3 months, I've been to so many different rehabs that I would doubt any would work for me but, the Staff here are great, they are friendly, caring, loving and no nonsense as well. For me I have seen that it's all about how much interest and effort we are willing to put into setting a goal for our life but this location definitely has provided me with a great start. Residential treatment will only work as well as you allow it to. I take issue with several of the reviews on this page. Hank says that Whiteside said "One more month would CURE HER." I find this impossible to believe. Anyone, with ANY knowledge of the disease of addiction, knows that we are never cured of this thing. This disease as chronic, and can be fatal. When we are looking for a justification for our behavior, even the treatment center might seem like a good place to set the blame. The truth is, I have tried to get help time and time again. Every time I was unable to stay sober, I blamed someone else. I have been able to stay sober for several years now. Whiteside played a crucial role in my sobriety. I could never thank them enough, for their guidance and support. My heart goes out to the people that were unable to find recovery, and especially for their loved ones. read more

I recently lost my son, who had been a resident of Whiteside Manor this last year. His disease of alcohol and drug addiction, broke down his health to the point is was beyond repair. But the staff at Whiteside Manor, especially his counselor's Gil and George, along with everyone else there were nothing short of incredible. Whiteside provided every opportunity for my son's recovery and growth back from the brink of destruction. Their care and responsiveness not only to my son, but also to his family as we supported his program, were excellent. I personally witnessed many of their interactions with residents and could see the care and personal attention they gave everyone. No one is perfect and neither is a company, but I couldn't recommend this recovery location enough. My whole hearted support and thanks for their excellent work. Ron, the manager, was also always responsive and ready to work for my son's and others recovery. It was a family, albeit broken at times....but so is life. First off, i would like to begin my review by saying Whiteside and its staff are the reason why I have sobriety today. I went in to Whiteside in August of 2015 after losing my job, family, car and sanity... i had hit a complete rock bottom. I no longer knew how to live without drugs and alcohol. And, without the exposure to 12 step programs and a healthy, recovery based lifestyle that they teach here, i would not be where i am today. As far as rehabilitation centers go, every single one will give you what you invest into it. Treatment centers are there to help guide you on your road to recovery, and, with a little over a year sober, i can now say that Whiteside did just that. I stayed at Whiteside for almost 90 days and was constantly challenged along the way. I initially only wanted to stay for 30 days, but in working with my counselor, Sara, i saw that there was no need to rush things. Especially when i realized that i was constantly learning and growing with each passing week. The groups that they held everyday, the daily chores they made me do, and the 12 step meetings that i got to go to every night really kick started my recovery. The staff there treated everyone fairly and was always there for me or any other clients that needed help. In fact, they went above and beyond in my opinion. This is a 12 step based recovery center and they really emphasize that. They help the clients get out of their comfort zones and ask for a sponsor, explore outside meetings and study the big book. They really do believe in working the 12 steps and are living proof of helping other alcoholics/addicts achieve sobriety. Many of the reviews talk about the housing conditions and food... Trust me- i was in absolute shock at first. But, once i took a step back and realized why i was there, not having memory-foam mattresses wasn't a huge let down anymore. Also, the food is there to help the recovering addict put back on all the weight he/she has lost in their addiction. I know many others in recovery who have gone through various treatment centers themselves. And, although Whiteside doesn't have sandy beaches to walk to or horses to groom in a stable out back, but it has everything else you need to begin your recovery. I would definitely recommend Whiteside to anyone that is serious about finding a new way of living- it is not an "easier, softer way" by any means. But it is an absolutely amazing place to build the foundations of success in your recovery. read more

This program saved my life!!! The counselors here give their heart and soul, they truly care and want you to succeed. I have read some negative posts on here and everyone has a different experience thru residential treatment. I feel that those who feel negativity towards this program may not have been ready to do the work they need to do to stay sober. No residential treatment can fix you and magically lift your addiction, you have to be willing to do the work. I was a heavy opiate addict among multiple other substances for over ten years and this program taught me not only the twelve steps but cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, positive affirmations, it taught me how to operate in a sense of gratitude. I received individual therapy sessions, learned to meditate and had the most amazing case manager who I still talk to on a regular basis who actually CARES about my sobriety and does not view the client as a paycheck. These counselors understand the depth of the disease of addiction and give you the tools to do your best job at maintaining sobriety. They also assisted in helping me find a transition plan out of treatment to help ensure my success. I owe this program my life and because of this program my family got their daughter back. Whiteside Manor is a wonderful enviroment with incredible staff members. They care about your success and commit to do whatever is neccessary to help you achieve sobriety. I highly recommend anyone struggling with addiction and dual diagnosis to seek out this program. This place is terrible for anyone who has mental health issues or medical issues which with rehab I imagine there are people who do. My mother being one of them. She has an ostomy bag (bag connected to her intestines, a 'poop bag') and depression on top of being an alcoholic. She was admitted and the next day they called because they were discharging her because her ostomy bag leaked and they got complaints. Not only was my mom extremely embarrassed and shamed, but they didn't even try to transfer her anywhere else! They basically just kicked her out because of her medical health issues! It's not like she needs a nurse, she does all the bag set up and changing herself, so they literally kicked her out because of a bag leak, something she has no control over. Sometimes the bag doesn't hold up. My mom is in a very fragile state. She had called the suicide hotline and then was admitted into detox, afterwards she was transferred to whiteside and then this happened and she feels absolutely hopeless and embarrassed. The least they could do was try and have some compassion. They literally wanted us to pick her up instantly, my sister and I both work full time and told them we needed at least a couple hours because she was far away and they finally said they would keep her for a couple hours but that was it. My sister tried calling the director and he said that they have had to refer people with medical issues before because they don't have the 'equipment' to handle it. Basically this place is only for people who need rehab and have absolutely no other issues. If an ostomy bag was a problem, why didn't they say so YESTERDAY when we admitted her? They have all her medical files and should have been well aware of that fact. Terrible. read more

Worst place I have ever been this is a low bottom rehab where patients are relapsing left and right in the facility the living conditions are a disgrace the food is horrible the staff is uncaring and have no patience or compassion for the addict trying to better themselves they call it a 30 day program but in actuality it is at least a 90 day or more program I do not recommend going here ever Debbie is the worst counselor ever I was miserable here I went to a different rehab called Michaels house in Palm Springs that was amazing and absolutely loved it and have been clean ever since read more

Working professionals please stay away from here. I witnessed many people smuggling in and selling drugs within the facility, two of the houses were infested with bed bugs (of which 6 people had to be isolated because they had bites all over them). You will find thugs and people straight off the street here. Furthermore, the staff will pull your sheets off at 5am and for people still coming down this is not the place for you. The Clinical and Executive lied in their medical record report and claim to have 99% success rate. This was clearly not true as some peope were on their second, third, and fourth times. They offer no alternatives to 12 step and will discharge you AMA for expressing that. You can also expect the same result if you turn in the surveys they ask you to fill out with anything less than 5 out of 5. Stay on the coast and be treated better. No registered nurses or doctors on duty over weekends, holidays, and at random as well. I've been sober for 6 months (I left after a week and found a much better CDRP in San Diego) and developed a support staff with no thanks to this place. Please don't give your money to this awful and deceitful place. Also, I'd like to add that the guy who wakes you up is a kinda of a dick in my opinion. read more
