They have cabins/tv/tent spots to rent on Airbnb and reserveamerica.com. We have rented their cabins 4 years in a row now. They are gorgeous. They also have a small country store with supplies if you forget something if you rent the cabins and shirts and souvenirs to buy as well. The park itself is down the winding road to the bottom of the mountain there is not designated parking just a gravel road. They have trails to walk and a park and also newly built gazebos to rent or reserve for parties and celebrations. They do have restrooms there as well. You can swim in the river but the current can be strong and there are no lifeguards. If you want a extremely peaceful place to visit take a chance and go here.

So if you're worried about being attacked or just being alone no need. The officers are there 24/7. I was out getting my daily 3 mile run in. Upon arrival there was 1 woman walking the trail. 5 laps around equals 1 mile so 15 times around is 3 miles. It's an easy course with a slight elevation... The kids have a playground with Monkey bars and swing. There is no access from dusk to dawn.... You may rent the old gym for various events from parties, receptions, repast , etc. Call the City Hall for more info If you ever visit the City of Oglethorpe and you're here for a week or so, visit this park. The park is maintained by the Rotary club but the trails are paved and easy to follow as well. There are also some benches scattered throughout the park, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery. I love that this park is so well-connected to nature, so many different species of trees and you can see the creek everywhere. If you're looking for a peaceful place to relax and get in touch with nature, I highly recommend checking it out. It's a hidden gem that you won't want to miss! The park is also very dog-friendly!!

Primitive CAMPING AT THE PARK…read more Memorial day weekend Absolutely love to stay really beautiful, super peaceful and quiet at night other than it being Memorial Day weekend once that cooled down absolutely amazing Camp site We got one of these smaller sites. I wanna say we were at number 10. It was very nice, but it is very unlevel so putting up a tent and walking around in the tent was rough on your feet because it was nothing but roots sticking up out of the ground Luckily enough, we were primitive camping, but still did take an air mattress, but if you were sleeping in a sleeping bag, this would have been a huge problem Something to think about four people who go to primitive camping, but glamp with generators lights, etc. be considerate of your neighbors yes, we do understand that. It was memorial day weekend, but our neighbors had a generator and lights on bright enough You could probably see it from the moon. Even after they went to bed, left their lights on! They were quiet and really kept to themselves even with the children they had with them, but it was not very primitive due to that was a huge bummer to hear a generator going all night long and to be lit up like Fort Knox Also, one of the problems with that is, we were specifically told that even if it was a battery powered generator, they were strictly not allowed, but yet there was clearly that rule is not enforced ADULT Noises Again, memorial day weekend there's drinking going on but for my first time experience here without going into detail, some people sound like chickens being strangled when it's ADULT TIME and you may want to pack a pair of headphones for your small children so that when they hear animals of the night, that sound like rabbits fighting for their life in the tent next to you that they are not scared by the two legged wildlife if you know what I mean lol Roads/car traffic/ATV Traffic was busy again. I'm going to say it was because of the fact that was memorial day but speeding is a major problem if you're planning on walking your little ones to the bathroom you will need to keep a hold of them because it's NASCAR from ATVs to side-by-side they go fast Bathrooms Clean BUT you can see through the curtains which made me really nervous because in my brain if I can see you, you can see me so I ended up bringing clothes pens and a super big beach towel to hang over the curtain Washer and dryer There is a washer and dryer on site that is free to use. It's pretty awesome because nobody really leaves their clothes in there too long and everyone shares it amazing. Lake/fiahing Fishing was absolutely amazing. There's multiple different boat ramps that you can go in Fish off of or you can bank Fish. Do keep in mind that you will need your fishing license because we did get stopped an the 2 men next to us did get a hefty fine for fishing without a license With this being said, I do plan to go again, but I'm going to try to veer away from Big holidays, just due to the fact of the strangled chicken situation

The best thing was the Camp host, Rudy and His Wife. while we were there we had a little car trouble but Rudy camp host to the rescue. He took me and my wife to the store and stayed rt there with me. we got the part fixed trk and Rudy and His Wife was about in love with Jesus as we, They have the most wonderful disposition and WERE THE MOST AWESOME PEOPLE WE COULD HAVE BEEN BLESSED ENUFF TO BE AROUND. God had us in The Right place and the Help already in place. We are already planning to come back and spend another 3-5 days.

For…read morefifty years this land was home to Chester and Rose Evelyn Minor, their children, and one grandchild (me!). Chester and his two sons built the brick split-level themselves. Rose maintained a large garden many of those years, and the yard was studded with fruit-trees. The house survived two floods that destroyed the contents of the basement, but the flood of 1994 swamped the house in 5' of muddy water... high enough to flood the upper split story in a foot of water. The damage was too extensive and the property was sold to the government so that it could become this lovely little park. Enjoy!

Lovely nature trail tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Macon, GA. The GPS directions had us a…read moretad loss. We missed the street that takes you to the park twice, when we finally found the place it had ample parking available. There is a playground which was packed on the Sunday afternoon that we visited. The restrooms are located next to the playground and were relatively clean. The park offers plenty of shade and was well maintained. There was a small outdoor gym where I saw 1 person utilizing. I saw people playing catch in the open field and several people were walking their dogs. You can walk, run or bike ride on the trail. There is a very peaceful area that over looks the river where we took pictures. We were able to get in several miles and more than my required steps for the day. I look forward to coming back to Amerson River Park.

This place is way out there. That was kind of the point of course, as this POW camp would have left…read moreits prisoners with few places to escape to. The site includes a museum, a cemetery, and a driving tour around the area where the camp once stood. The museum is dedicated to prisoners of war more generally, and strikes a nice balance between telling the history of this specific place (including in a harrowing movie), but also connecting the issues faced by POWs throughout history. It also clearly explains the U.S. military code with regards to how to handle being captured. It's not a huge museum, but with the film I spent the better part of an hour. A tour of the camp can be done by either walking or driving. A piece of wooden stockade has been built, which offers a striking audiovisual experience when the lively atmosphere is cut off as you enter it. The area otherwise just marks where the rest of the stockade used to me, and also includes a variety of war monuments and informational signage. The cemetery is still active, containing not just the identified remains of many former Union POWs, but also American service members who have lived and died in subsequent eras. A map of the other major POW camps spans broadly. I've been to a few of those areas, but it would be quite a project to see all of them, even just the ones that have an actual surviving site and exhibition. However, the topic is compelling, combining the mechanics of war history with a lesson in the depths of human depravity, and an issue that will unfortunately always be relevant.

What can really be said that hasn't already? Well managed, well maintained National Park that every…read morehuman being should visit at least once. The museum was my favorite part, as the video and artifact offerings are excellent. If one takes the time, they will be enlightened on the American POW experience in all its wars. My go to place is North Peach Park where I go most of my time to walk around to clear my head. It's a nice decent park to walk around if you don't mind kids/adults playing football in the field, pets running around. Best time to go is first thing in the morning when they open the gates or mid lunch time is best to beat the crowd. If you want to take your lunch/dinner maybe breakfast to an area away from busy places this park is nice with plenty of parking around the park and trash can bins to throw away your trash.

Small park with a short walking trail located in Warner Robins alongside an apartment complex. This…read morepark features greenspace, which is paved on the outer edge; a pavilion; and 2 very long slides. The walking trail is shaded, and it consists of 2 bridges separated. From start to finish, it is only 0.8 miles, and it usually takes me about 10 minutes to walk it. I like to take my dog here on warm days since it is much cooler on the trail. The first half of the trail overlooks a really dirty pond that is filled with tons of turtles. It's peaceful but makes me wonder how the turtles are able to survive in the dark chocolate water. The second half of the trail ends in a neighborhood. If you are looking to get your steps in for the day, you can circle the green space. Overall, it's not the most impressive park. They definitely could have put more thought into the cohesiveness , but it gives the locals a nice place to enjoy nature.
