I don't love going to the dentist (hard to get numb and have had bad experiences in the past) but I am always so blown away by the genuine care the staff has for patients. Every single person in the office is lovely and caring. In terms of treatment, I feel that my treatment plan is always open and honest. I don't feel pressured into anything, but rather am explained their recommendations for care and a recommended timeline. Also, the tech is pretty cool! (The 3D tooth mapping is awesome lol). Most recently I got a crown, which I have not been looking forward to. Mel was amazing and explained everything about the process and consistently checked in to make sure I was doing okay. Overall,…read moreit felt like they were quite forceful about trying to maximize the revenue from services. 1) When I called to make an appointment as a new patient, I explained that I had just had xrays done by my prior dentist (we moved here from out of town, so I needed a new dentist). The receptionist said "we really like to do our own." I had the xrays (less than one year old) sent over via email, because I didn't want to get a second set only ten months after getting them done. 2) I walked into the office after parking on the street (I didn't realize they have a parking lot). I was asked "did you walk here?" After the points I'll mention below, I get the impression they look for what kind of car people drive to see if they have money or not. 3) Hygienist says "we're doing Xrays," I say, "no, not this time." She seems fairly shocked and upset by this and says "I'll have to ask the doctor and see what he says." No - that's not how it works. I'm the patient and if I say I'm not getting xrays because I have a set that's 10 months old, that's my decision to make. 4) Dr Jeff Osborn comes in and is very apologetic about the xray situation. I appreciate that he's nice about it - but I didn't like that there was friction in the first place. Strong-arming patients to get xrays.. feels like they are trying to add another service to bill insurance for. 5) I was asked twice "are you happy with your smile?" (it felt like they were looking for upsell opportunities). Not out of line per se - but, combined with everything else, I got the strong impression they are less about teeth cleanings and regular dental care, and are very interested in premium services / upsell opportunities. 6) During the cleaning the hygienist says "we'll need to do the cleaning in two appointments since there's a lot to do -- we'll get the top today." Yes, I drink coffee, and it had been 10 months since my last cleaning (because we moved, and getting an appointment here was only available 3 months out). But in my 4 decades of getting teeth cleaned I've never been told "we'll do half today, and half later." I said "that's weird, I've never heard that before." The hygienist ended up doing the entire cleaning (both top and bottom) and not mentioning it again. But I was again left with the impression they were trying to milk me or my insurance for additional revenue. 7) I was asked about teeth whitening and orthodontics. Again - not out of line on its own, but another instance where maximizing the revenue from the patient seems to be top-of-mind. It felt like they have a "revenue checklist" and they make sure to check every item with every patient. Overall, the feeling I was left with was that they're a lot more focused on upselling and premium services than I'm used to or happy with. Asking if I walked there... that was just weird. If you use them as your dentist, and drive up in a BMW or Mercedes, I have the strange feeling you'll be treated like a significant revenue opportunity. The staff was nice, once we got past their initial extremely strong position that I get new xrays (which, I suspect they may have dropped it because my insurance company only covers yearly xrays and therefore new ones wouldn't be covered anyway). I wonder if the corporate ownership structure puts really strong emphasis on maximizing revenue. They were all very nice and I wish them the best. But I didn't like the feeling that I was a revenue opportunity more than a patient.

We have been going to Lo Family Dental for a little over a year now. We found them through our…read moreDental Provider and they're extremely close to our home as well as a very reasonable distance from my kids' schools (Lake High School and Idlewild Elementary), which makes appointments that happen during the school day a lot easier! It also helps that they've always run very close to on-time - if not completely - when we have had an appointment. For a working Mom with 3 kids, this is an extremely important characteristic in an office. As an adult, I've had a good experience here with only one exception. My only negative experience (the loss of one star) has been over paying for a sleep guard that did not work... by "did not work", I mean that it did not fit the first time and cracked when I tried it on before even leaving the office, seeming to be made with a very brittle material. They were VERY kind and re-did my molds and sent away for another guard. This one arrived after a couple weeks and still fit very oddly and tightly. Dr Lo did his best to adjust the fit and told me it was ok to be tight... then one night, while wearing it (and biting on it - my primary reason for having it since I have TMJ and clench my teeth badly) it cracked in half and I woke up to it in the back of my throat, as I'd inhaled it and I rolled over and coughed it out. Kinda scary. Since then, they've apologized for the incident and promised to take care of the cost of the guard, but I haven't received an update (it's been about 4 weeks). My dental care - cleanings, x-rays, etc - have all been great. The staff is all wonderful and Dr. Lo is kind and a great communicator. My kids have also had great experiences. My 15 year old has connected with one of the Hygienists who has been able to really convince her about the importance of consistent brushing a flossing (a constantly battle with her since she was old enough to brush her own teeth) and this year she is cavity free for the first time since she was 9! Yay! My 5 year old has had a positive experience here, also. They're not a "kids" office but they do accommodate kids well. We had some trouble with x-rays due to the size of the guards inside of my daughter's mouth the last time we were there so we had to skip the x-rays this time around because it seems they were causing her pain (I don't see this as their fault - she got herself psyched up and couldn't be talked down). We'll continue seeing Lo Family Dental, though we might look into a kid-specific dental office if we continue to have issues with my youngest and her anxiety about x-rays.

The individuals at the frontdesk, in charge of the office running smoothly are rude and offer the poorest customer service I've ever dealt with when it comes to dental/health care. Some of the doctors (Dr. Lewandoski) are not focused on providing good dental care due to incompetence. In the last 3 years this clinic has placed an emphasis of making money by providing substandard dental care. I had to find another dental clinic to have my teeth properly cleaned even after I tried communicating my concerns with the Frontdesk. A new dentist had to address my dental concerns and addressed my teeth not being cleaned properly after 6 - 8 cleanings. The clinic drilled into my teeth, claiming I had a cavities and placed fillings that lasted only a year or so. This clinic and several others in Pierce county are owned by group of investors who seem to have little interest in patient care.
