First of all, I am a licensed dental hygienist. This review is from my experience as both a dental professional and a mom. I would absolutely recommend Dr Hopke and his office. My daughter got her braces off this week and she is very happy with the results. The support staff and assistants are great! Scheduling is easy. We loved the attention to detail throughout the process. My daughter is on the spectrum and they made sure to explain everything to her in language that she could understand, have her demonstrate how to put in the bands or retainers herself, and they really empowered her to take care of her own teeth. State insurance paid for her braces. Very thankful for that. He does accept state insurance. His office is state of the art! His office is also clean and kid friendly! Over the 3 year process of braces I believe we waited more than 20 minutes twice. They are very good and staying on time. It is a busy office but they really do their best. In medicine, some things can't be predicted so giving grace when they run behind is just as important as them giving grace when we run behind. I am hoping my son will be next to have treatment here. Sharing My Experience for Other Families I am sharing my personal experience with Hopke Orthodontics because I want other families to ask questions and consider getting a second opinion before making important decisions about their child's orthodontic treatment. My son was treated there for approximately three years. At first, his teeth seemed to be straightening well, but over time I became concerned because I was not seeing the progress I expected with his bite. He also developed inflammation, and when I took him to his hygienist, I was told that something did not seem right. I contacted the orthodontist because I wanted him to look into what was happening. When we followed up about two weeks later, I was told that he had not had a chance to look into my son's situation. As a parent, I found that very disappointing. We were also repeatedly told that my son would likely need jaw surgery. After leaving the practice, we got another orthodontic opinion and were given a different possible treatment approach involving braces, rubber bands, and possibly removing one tooth, which may give him a chance to avoid jaw surgery. I understand that orthodontists can have different professional opinions, and every child's case is different. I am not saying that another family will have the same experience. I am simply sharing what happened with my son and why I chose to leave. For families considering this office, especially families whose children have an underbite, I strongly recommend asking questions, understanding all available treatment options, and getting a second opinion before committing to a long treatment plan or jaw surgery. I am sharing this because our children's health and future deserve careful attention, communication, and a treatment plan that parents fully understand. read more

Everytime we come in they are 45 min or more past the appointment time, been that way for years with 3 kids needing treatment. What makes it worse is they dont seem to care when you ask about the delay and respecting peoples time and schedule. This place might as well be first come first serve with the non existent organization. read more

I'm not a professional. I have no training in orthodontics. However, I'm pretty sure the way this office handled my first visit was horrendous. I came in after having not had my braces serviced since November due to relocation. They made us wait 30days to get the appointment and then requested all of the information we already provided AGAIN upon arrival. Instead of being taken back quickly and getting the ball rolling to finish my treatment, I was made to fill out multiple pieces of information that was already provided. They then took x rays and pictures and sat me down in the treatment office where I waited another 10 minutes before they told me I have to wait another 40 days to get the braces serviced. At this point I've got a wire that's been impaling my cheek on both sides and they put me into the clinic to clip it. This way I wouldn't be so uncomfortable until I can finally get my appointment in 3 YEARS. Well when the girl clipped the wire, she broke the bracket off of my tooth. I didn't know this until I went to chew gum and felt the bracket scraping my teeth and gum above. I called back and they said oh come in we will fix it. Instead of fixing it, the bracket (which was on my anchor tooth) was REMOVED instead of refastened. No one explained what they were doing they just did it. Had I been warned or made aware of what was about to happen, I would have made a different choice. That choice was taken from me and I had to bear that financial burden alone. Within an hour I was in immense amounts of pain. Called back and they are closed. It's Friday. Crazy amounts of pain all weekend. Spoke with multiple orthodontist offices on Friday afternoon. They all shared the same sentiment, it's Friday afternoon and there are no appointments. They all said that it was bizarre and unprofessional. I ended up paying out of pocket at another orthodontist for continuation of care after I found out they tried to get my insurance authorization for a full new treatment plan. Needless to say, I won't be running back there begging for help again. I would look into as many other orthodontists as possible before settling on this one. 10 out of 10 DO NOT recommend. read more

My daughter has received braces from Hopke. Everytime when we go to an appointment we wait for 45 minutes past the appointment time before they call her from the lobby. Each time we are told they are late from getting back from lunch. The three ladyies in the back are always more concerned with their gossip then with helping customers or performing their job. Dr. Hopke is great however, the staff is incompetent and rude. It is too bad as it did used to be a great place. read more

Care is good. Staff is nice. But holy crap they are chronically behind. If you have an appointment expect to actually be taken back 45 min after your appointment time. I have no idea why it is ALWAYS like this but this is my second kid going through braces here and every dang time they are so behind. It is really annoying because my time is valuable too and I can get so much more done in the time they waste making me wait around after my appointment time. Get your stuff together. read more

Like most of these reviews the staff is always behind and are incredibly unhelpful they talk over you and will not listen to concerns you have. Iv only had 1 assistant who has listened to my concerns and helped me. iv had braces for 3 years now and not one time have I been taken care of properly by the staff. They all just sit and gossip with one another and ignore their actual jobs not to mention the lady who collects payment fails to do it on time and tries to blame it on us. They have 3 cards in file for us and never take out payment on time then at my appointments they "need to discuss payment" and yada yada, It unprofessional. I would like to also note that none of the assistances can do their job right I feel as I always have a trainee who doesn't fully know what they're doing and always need to call someone else to finish the task for them. All they do is gossip they don't do their jobs. read more

I took my daughter her for a second opinion, and so glad we did they are absolutely great! We were so welcomed right away and took a tour and was met with all smiles it's a small business and that's what I love, they are not about the money and make you feel very comfortable and not pressured. read more

Hands down the best orthodontist office ever! They're all so friendly, the Doctor is very passionate about his job. I went in there yesterday and noticed a new bracket breaking "contract" instead of when you break a bracket you're charged 50+ like most offices they just ask that you bring a can of food for the local food bank which I thought was amazing. They're very into their community, my kiddos go to a school in the area and they donated their time to a Kids Night out as well as money to their talent show and even came to the talent show. Anytime that you have a need of any kind such as a broken bracket/pokey wire or whatever it may be, the Doctor will make sure you get in. He says braces aren't supposed to hurt. He lives minutes from the office and makes sure he gets right in even if it's a weekend. He loves his job! Thanks so much Hopke Staff! You all are amazing. read more

Professional, accommodating and kind! Dr. Hopke and his staff have been so great in treating my daughter's orthodontic needs. When it came time to discuss her care plan and the cost associated, the staff really knew their stuff! I was impressed with their experience and knowledge of working with insurance companies and obtaining proper pre-authorization. They made the process seamless. They are always flexible with scheduling and have a very laid back, yet professional atmosphere. Earlier this week, while at softball practice, a piece of my daughter's orthodontic appliance came loose - we called in at 9 pm and the doctor met us at the office within 10 minutes just to assure her comfort until the piece could be replaced at her appt. today. We have a foreign exchange student living with us. Her retainer broke and we took her to Hopke Orthodonics. Because of the weather they were closed today but we had not received the email before we left home. The doctor and one other person were at the office as they live in the area. They saw Sujin and the retainer was fixed. They were very friendly, nice and kind. I would recommend them highly. read more

Great office my daughters love coming here and feel comfortable. The staff is very fun and enjoy interacting with the patients.

Dr Hopke does not know how to deal with concerns from a parent about their child's treatment plan. He completely shuts down to you as the parent and to ur child which scared our child. His "bedside" manor is really nonexistent and has us questioning everything on the treatment plan. It shouldn't come to that much of a surprise that the staff that had worked there for YEARS have slowly left Dr hopke's practice and I believe that only one original staff member is left. ***please note that the other good reviews here on Yelp are NOT from patients but from colleagues*** read more

They are the worst! The front desk folks are completely incompetent. They either don't answer the phone at all or just provide inaccurate information. The front desk has high turnover. Their voicemail says they are open from 8-4:30 mon-thurs, but then I'm told they don't actually work until 2 on thursdays. Their hours are not conducive for getting anything done or for working parents. There are plenty of other orthodontists out there...take your business elsewhere! read more

After going to 5 other Orthodontist with my ten year old daughter. We really felt the most comfortable and at home in this office. They took the time to ask her questions and to make her feel so much less anxious about all that will be done in her mouth. The office staff was super friendly. HIGHLY recommend. read more
