The quick head nod kept the bidding going higher and higher. I asked if consignors were allowed to bid on their own items to jack up prices and was reluctantly told YES. It became quite clear that the auctioneer played the legitimate bidder against bids from the consignor. The true good ole boy network of a small town I guess. Legal in Colorado apparently, but very poor business practice and should be disclosed throughout the auction in my opinion. One time I mentioned significant hidden damage to the staff on an item that was coming up soon. They whispered to the auctioneer, but nothing was said when the item came up. Buyer beware always, but be especially careful with this auction house!

Sure, these are mostly high end antiques and some more common, less valuable things, but come on, the prices are crazy high. If you look around a Little you can find most of these things, or similar for a lot less. Check out the antique malls in town. I think the people that buy from here are rich and don't have the time to wait, and look around. Or maybe it's a status thing. I used to go to all these WWAS, but stopped last year when I realized it was costing my husband and I $13 to get in and we weren't buying anything. For me, it ended up being a waste of time. Plus most of this stuff is fru-fru and Victorian, not my style. There are other antique shows around, just check the web.

The vendors have all done a great job with their spaces. The window front is always well decorated and themed. There's a pretty good variety of merchandise and pricing to match. I've been in several times and have found gifts for a few people in my budget. They also ask if you'd like to donate $1 for a local charity and in exchange you get a canvas tote. So much better than "rounding up" at every single store these days and you get nothing. They don't have much signage up yet so it's easy to miss but it's the black building next to the depot liquor store on 2nd just west of Main. Check it out and support local. It took a long time for me to make a decision, but Becky was very patient, knowledgeable, and kind, not at all pushy, and was ready to take my order when I was comfortable with the purchase. When it was delivered from Norway, I brought it home and noticed that a section of the leather on the side seemed a little darker than the rest and it felt tacky to the touch. I brought it back to the store where Becky and Samantha examined it closely and agreed that something was just not right. Becky offered to order a new upholstered leather top to replace it. The second top arrived and it is in fine shape. I really appreciate Becky's offer to replace the top. It demonstrated to me the willingness of the business to accommodate its customers. This ottoman really is gorgeous. It is made with Stressless' top-of-the-line leather called Noblesse. It's the softest most supple leather I've ever felt and worth the price, IMO. If you're thinking of purchasing Stressless leather furniture, I'd urge you to save up a bit more so that you can buy their Noblesse leather. It is so luxurious!
