I had a clogged central vacuum system and had called Whitlock's for help since I didn't get the help needed from places in Albany and Corvallis. Jim Marion/Whitlock's took the call and said he could help. He came out to my house on Saturday, October 5, 2019. He was very thoughtful and professional and examined the clogged situation. He was able to unclog the whole system and said there hasn't been a system that he couldn't unclog. It had been 1 1/2 months since the clog happened and I couldn't use the system. Just earned a customer for life. Our trusty vacuum was no longer doing the job despite a thorough cleaning, replacement of brush and fresh bags and filters. Getting ready to bite the bullet and get a strong but simple upright, and went into Whitlocks for some recommendations (have a beast of a dog that sheds like crazy). The owner Lyn McPherson served me, took the time to assess my needs and show me two nice machines that would do the job, and then some. Even he realized they were overkill for our simple needs, and started to question me about our existing machine. After some thoughtful trouble shooting he suggested I try one more thing I hadn't tried- and voila- it did the trick. Old machine is as good as new. That's service! Made many purchases from Whitlock's over last 20 years. Three years ago I took my Serger in for servicing, Whitlock employees lost it, misplaced it. I have continued to call monthly from that point on, until a few months ago, checking if they had located my lost Serger. A manager happened to answer phone call on my most recent contact, he would call me back in a few days. Amazing that he found my machine buried in an attic(or basement)storage. My reward for receiving machine three plus years after Whitlicks losing it: Free check-up/repair. What would other owners have done? Was this an acceptable offer? Could thread have been included? How about a new cover that was not with machine when they found it? I do have to say the manager was kind, and polite. read more

I purchased a new top of the line sewing machine from a dealer in my home town. From the moment I took it out of the box, I had nothing but problems with it. I took it into the local dealer that I purchased it from several times for help, each time to be belittled and made to feel as if the problems with the machine were my fault. They were unwilling to help me get these problems straightened out. So I brought my new machine into Whitlock's with a list of the issues that I had been dealing with to see if they could somehow help me. Whitlock's staff all went above and beyond the call of duty.
