Just got back from Whit's in Powell and felt like I should write a review since the staff working this evening were awesome. They were so friendly and helpful, it was my first time so had questions. The hot fudge sundae was great and I have an extra treat for tomorrow. I've been to this shopping center a million times but never realized it was back there, kind of hidden unless you enter from Sawmill Parkway which I never have. We showed up 30 minutes before they closed. All of the flavors were already being scooped out for the night, leaving us with chocolate as the only option to choose. This would have been fine if the workers would have approached it in a polite manner. Instead, they acted inconvenienced by us being there, and were rude. Disappointed by the experience as a whole. OMG, custard is so so yummy! Brought the 2 kiddos here after a weekday zoo trip. The young lady who was working was super nice and when I commented that I hadn't been to Whit's in years she jumped right into a description of the menu without me asking! Well done! We got one of the kids cups with sprinkles and stuff and it was a big hit! I gr a waffle cone with cookies and cream and it was DEVINE! Prices are very affordable as well. This us a great family friendly place for sure! I saw other reviews about poor service and I can only assume those were people with some kind of personal issue against the business. We had a lovely experience and I asked the name of the staff person and I think it was Ava. This will be on our list of ice cream places to go to for sure!!! read more

Staff were unprofessional - my friends and I were not greeted upon entrance, and were loudly spoken negatively about by a female staff member and other staff member working alongside her tonight, which was completely unprompted. Once my two friends and I exited the store, and were continuing our conversation outside the store briefly before getting into our cars, female staff member continued to point at us through windows, laugh at us, and stare. She proceeded to enter into the neighboring store (Jersey Mike's), laughing and pointing (as the storefront is almost entirely windows, and we could see right through). I understand the staff working tonight seemed young, but my friends and I had an objectively negative experience. We are frequent Whit's customers, though will choose to take our business to other locations in the future, due to an uncomfortable experience. Uncomfortable to a degree which I have never experienced at any place of business, and was unacceptable frankly. Very out of character for Whit's. read more

I liked the creaminess of the custard, but was a bit confused by all the options and varieties that can be put together with just 3 flavors. The store wasn't terribly inviting and had an industrial feel to it. The front door needs to be repaired as it slams loudly everytime someone enters or leaves. Super annoying. read more

Rude,racist and mean. I came in with my family excited because we have never been here before and a women with dark hair,glasses and a blue shirt had her face turned up and was very rude. She had a bad attitude that had nothing to do with us. Every time we asked a question she was mean when responding. I will never come back to this location the energy was weird and uncomfortable. I hate spending my money on things when the employees are so rude. If I didn't have my kids I would have walked out. Wasted money because the experience was so bad. read more

cold and uninviting... I go to the Westerville location at least once a week and have also been to several of the other locations in the central Ohio area. I am not that impressed with this new location in Powell. This place just opened up a few weeks ago. I like the larger eating area that this location has. Typically Whit's doesn't have much seating so this is a plus for this location. The custard tasted great and has the consistency that I get at other Whits. Other than those two things that's about all the positive things I can say about this location. The atmosphere seemed really cold and uninviting. The female working at the time we came in didn't say hi when we came in and even though there were no other people in the shop, she seemed frazzled. All of the locations that I have been to include whipped cream, sprinkles and cherries at no extra charge. This location does not have that listed so I asked about it. She indicated it was a charge but not to worry about it today. Odd! I'm glad she didn't charge me for it. Order 1 scoop of the flavor of the week which was the Bourbon Praline Pecan- Bourbon Custard with Praline Pecans and Caramel Swirls The scoop that I got was not what I am accustomed to getting at the other locations and as a matter of fact it seemed on the skimpy side. I recommend getting some friendlier staff and don't be so stingy with the custard, you are charging more than all the other locations I have been to. read more

I don't know what it is about frozen custard - it's creamy and delicious and I love plain flavors the best (ok, chocolate is my very favorite). They have chocolate, vanilla, and the flavor of the week (not the same one as the other locations when I visited) - you can sample it. And there are so many topping combinations that you can pretty much make any flavor you want. I'm happy to have a frozen custard option in this area now! read more

I just found this shop two weeks ago and I've been twice already! First, I'll counter the negatives I've seen about it: it is minimalist decor inside, which I understand some people dislike. You're not supposed to be eating cold treats indoors; it's outdoor fare. A modern design is no reason to stop going. I have not encountered rude staff. Not super chatty but after years of customers being terrible to service industry workers, it's no wonder you won't find super-bubbly workers. They are courteous and get your food, all that's needed. I didn't see a smorgasbord of candy toppings, but aren't you going to a frozen custard shop for a lighter alternative...? Now for the good: the flavors are varied for everyone to find one. I go for refreshing vanilla with sliced bananas, but their flavor of the day and week (pumpkin pie?! numnum!) sound good. It seems to be a hit with kids and their folks. You can get a plastic to-go lid if you plan to take it home to someone else. ApplePay is there, just ask. A good place to get a little cheat-day treat. Don't go in expecting Four Seasons attention and you'll walk out happy. read more

This is the first time I ever had Whits. I know that ordering frozen custard isn't rocket science but the employee behind the counter was yelling at me and being extremly rude. She was a heavy set girl with coloring in her hair. My 8 year old daughter commented on how rude she was. However the product was amazing. I will go back again just not to this location. read more

I am in love with the latest addition to Powell's ice cream/custard offerings! Great prices, great portions and high quality. The store itself is very plain but feels very clean and has some seating. They have one special flavor each week and always have chocolate and vanilla. If you don't like those, they have others in a 'grab and go' freezer. read more

Don't get me wrong but the icecream is delicious and there is a wide variety of toppings to pick from. But there is one thing that really turns this ice cream shop from a 5/5 to a 0/5. The most rude, annoying, and disgusting employee that works at this location a majority of the time. She has short brown hair, and if you see her try to avoid her at all costs. The atmosphere is absolutely horrible. The costumer service isn't friendly at all. I ordered the vegan flavor on a cone and they told me I "wasn't allowed" to get it on a cone because it is only in their display freezer. The vegan vanilla is appalling. It was icy and the ingredients where separating. It tasted as if they just put Splenda and water in a cup and froze it. It was bitter and grainy. The employee also said that they keep the flavor in their freezer so long that it "might be gross." I took one or two little bites of the flavor and when realizing it was disgusting I asked the employee (the same guy as before) what the base was and he replied with coconut milk. I've had other coconut milk based ice creams before and this one is by far the worst. I then told them how dissatisfied I was and asked if I could have their normal custard. He then said "Since you already ate it (I HAD TASTED IT ONLY) I can't accept a return on it." Who returns ice cream? Just give me a new flavor. And how I am supposed to know if I like an ice cream when they don't have samples available. He then said, "I can allow you to buy a new flavor but I can't just give a scoop away for free."
