Checked out this Menchie's Frozen Yogurt in the town center. I've been really into this chain lately, especially because they list calories for every flavor and topping which makes it so much easier to track what I'm getting. It was mega crowded when we went. The place was pretty messy, but honestly the crowd was so thick I don't think the worker even had a chance to sneak in and clean. The person ringing us up was really nice, but there was only one employee and they definitely need two people during these nighttime rushes. The flavors weren't my favorite this time. I know they rotate, but there were more sour flavors than sweet ones. On the bright side, the fruit toppings were very fresh and the toppings bar was well stocked even though it was messy. I did find a clean table to sit at. It was super loud inside, but that's just because they were so busy. Overall still a nice spot, just maybe come at a quieter time so you can enjoy it more. read more

Clean & nice employees. Prices just too high at $ .70/ounce. The frozen quart was priced ok at $8 which is about .40 /oz. I got a chocolate covered Oreo on the side & it added 1.50 to my wife's cup. So 6 of us was well over $60. Yogurt Vi is only $.53/oz. So it's no wonder there's only a few Menchies left in Ohio. read more

Ever since moving from California, I have been looking for a place with tart frozen yogurt similar to Pinkberry. This place was suggested to me through Facebook. Although they are slightly comparable, I would say they have a LOT of room for improvement.. The associates are not very friendly or helpful, it was my first time in this place and no one helped me BS hearing them helping others who came in after me... It was also disappointing to see that there were no dairy free options besides fruit flavors... but I guess I cannot compare everything to my choices back in Los Angeles. Little frozen yogurt place on Sawmill. The service could be better. For someone who hasn't been to this location it was hard for me to maneuver through all the people and guy working was just kind of standing here - but not super helpful and just figuring out as I go along. I asked if they had low sugar / low carb options for my mom who is diabetic and he pointed two out. I saw online they had many options to I don't think this location has them all. Regardless we got the carbolite low carb caramel macchiato as the low sugar strawberry flavor didn't look as appealing. I am a big fan of Fro Yo, but I had never tried Menchies until I came in today. I can confidently say this location will be my new go-to based on the amazing service I received. It was super busy when I came in, and Chanel was the only one working. Despite having so many things to attend to Chanel was calm and attentive and offered me sample cups and suggestions to help me choose what I wanted. Towards the end of my order ai went to put some Nutella on my cup and it was empty. Chanel noticed right away, even though she had a lot of customers and was able to refill the machine quickly for me while still providing excellent service to the other customers. She was super kind and I could tell many other customers had positive interactions with her as well. read more

Walked in to 2 young men sitting on the counter on theirs phones talking amongst each other. The Caucasian one looked up at me and then back down. I grabbed a cup and said, "so yall are not going to acknowledge me saying welcome to menchie or anything?" The one with the afro looked dumbfounded while the other said, " I was going to say something when you got to the register. When I went to check out he was super nice. There was melted yogurt on EVERY machine and the scale. Both of these people should be reprimanded and trained on customer service which is void with these kids. I had never had frozen yogurt so this was my first time. My mother and my sister came to use a buy one get one free coupon. The woman who work there was very friendly and knowledgeable. The location was clean I didn't notice any issues in that area. The color scheme is very energetic and inviting. They have several flavors I think, about 12. Toppings are great and there's more toppings than frozen yogurt I think LOL. It's a self serve ice cream place so you don't need that much help. When we came the place was not busy at all. It was about 3 PM on a Saturday and there were no customers. The yogurt was tasty. However, it melted very quickly. In fact, by the time I got to my car it was halfway melted. Other than that it was pretty good. However, I'd like that to have lasted a little longer than that. Especially given we paid nine dollars for one cup. It wasn't as creamy as I expected. My younger kids and I went on a Tuesday afternoon. The basic vanilla wasn't working. When I asked the attendant she said some times that machine gets stuck and went back to her phone. Came here on a hot summer day expecting to get ice cream. Saw that there were 2 missing flavors and 2 others were not ready yet. The flavors left over were flashing the low signal. After my friend got one flavor it was out and there were 4 flavors left. I had to settle with a flavor I did not like and on top of that had to pay 5.30 for an 8th of the cup filled with ice cream. I absolutely love Menchie's. It has some amazing ice cream flavors. I always get like 3 flavors mixed together whenever I go. Then I add almost every topping to my ice cream that I can. I just have a strong sweet tooth and I love sweets especially ice cream. I love ice cream and this gives me what I want. The ice cream and the toppings are weighed together and that's how they calculate how much you pay for the ice cream all together. They do have a rewards system based on your phone number and you can download the app to keep track of rewards which is neat. Plus the best part of this location everyone is so friendly. read more

We love this place!!!! It's our favorite fro-yo place so far in Columbus. My kids love adding there own toppings and I love it just as much as they do. I purchased a Groupon and this location doesn't accept them. However they were very kind and assisted me anyways. Which was great customer service in my book. They keep the inside neat and have a nice outdoor seating area when the weather is appropriate. Even if you're on a budget you can manage your kids toppings to help w/ the cost. Or you can have them share a bowl. Meaning one side one way and the other side setup for the opposite kid. If you're not familiar w/ a place like this..you pick from a variety of yogurts, then add toppings of your choice. This is a self serve place and they weigh it and your price is based off of weight. On our way home from grocery shopping we did a search for Fryo and Menchies came up close by. We walked in and were asked if we had masks to put on; we said no. The little girl said we couldn't come in. We mentioned that we just came from Grocery shopping and no one was wearing masks. We certainly respect their store policy but the girl was really snotty about it and came back with a rude remark. If your policy is masks that's fine have a mask for the customer to put on but don't chase them out. May or not be good yogurt; well never know. It was always spotlessly clean before but must be under new management. My flip flops were sticking to the floor so badly under the yogurt pulls that I literally couldn't keep them on my feet. I was stoked upon hearing the opening on Menchie's from a fellow Yelper. Needless to say, I made it one of my first stops when I came back to town. I can honestly say it blows Yagoot and most froyo chains out of the water -- in terms of prices, options, and cutesiness. From enticing flavors such as Red Velvet and Peanut Butter Gold (which alternate every 3-4 days), the only thing that could have possibly made the experience a better one was a myriad of toppings. And myriad of fresh toppings it was! I made a beeline for the mochi (and assorted fruits) to top off my mound of Red Velvet froyo. At 44 cents an ounce, it may not seem at all expensive at first glance. Beware of overloading, like yours truly did. Walking out with a massive froyo concoction at $5.40 though, I must say prices are more reasonable than the other froyo joints in town. read more

MMMenchie's! Yagoot and Red Mango opened up in Columbus not too long ago. I haven't been to Red Mango so I only have Yagoot to compare to as far as frozen yogurt goes. The thing that is better about menchies is all their frozen yogurt flavors. When I went there 4/24/10, there was angel food cake, blueberry, watermelon tart, coffee, original tart, island banana, cheesecake, and the standard chocolate and vanilla. On their site, they have over 50 flavors so I guess the flavors vary by season and location. They give you small containers to sample the flavors. Technically, you could get full just sampling each flavor once but don't do that! It feels soooo good in your mouth. If you don't like yagoot's tart frozen yogurt flavors (they have original, banana, and strawberry), come here. Some of them taste like ice cream. I suppose the healthiness of the yogurt is somewhere between that of ice cream and yagoot. But I don't really know. You pay by weight (.44 cents an ounce), unlike at yagoot where you pay 2.25 for a regular size plain yogurt, 3.25 for 1 topping, 3.50 for two toppings, and 3.75 for three toppings. Since you pay by weight you add your own toppings so you can get whatever you want, as much as you want. This place has more toppings than yagoot including cookie dough, mochi, cheesecake bites, all different fruits, cereals, and brownie chunks. I sampled a few of the flavors and then got a cup with a little bit of each of the remaining flavors (carefully separated so the flavors didn't mix) so that I could sample them all. I added a few toppings to sample them as well. I paid about 2.50 total. Not bad for trying about 10 flavors and 3 toppings! read more

As a recent transfer from southern California, I always love finding things here that remind me of home. Right before I moved to Ohio, I started getting really into a DIY frozen yogurt place called Wild Cherry. Menchie's is JUST like it! :) I'm vegan, so non-dairy sorbets are a must. According to their website, they have four vegan-friendly choices, but just like in California, they only have one out at a time. Tonight it was Strawberry Kiwi (one of the usuals in CA, too!). Inside the shop, it was a bit tight. There is plenty of seating, but the sundae-making section is small. Plus, a high school football game must have just let out because it was packed with 16 year olds wanting to sample every flavor... twice... Once we were able to get past the children, the myriad of toppings was inspiring. They have a "snackage" and a "chill" section (pantry items and fridge items, respectively). There are fresh fruits, cookies, candy, nuts, granola, and sprinkles, to name a few. Like our place in CA, you can get as much or as little as you want (you serve everything yourself) and then you pay by the weight. One of the 16 year olds in front of us paid $6.50 for her full cup (a pint?). For mine and my bf's together, it was just over $6. They charge $7 per pound, so if you get a reasonable amount, it's not going to break the bank. We didn't skimp by any means though. I give Menchie's four stars. It's good - even something to write home about - but they would have to do a bit more to impress me for that fifth star. read more

I am so glad that froyo is finally making its way to the midwest. I think I have written something of the sort on each of my reviews of the new frozen yogurt shops (Red Mango, Yagoot). Menchies is the first of these to be self-serve, as is so popular out in California. Like other shops, this one is decorated in bright colors and shapes. There is a chalkboard on one side for people to be creative while consuming their yogurt, though I wondered at the sanitary nature of having chalk dust in the air around food. The boy commented on the terrible resonance of the shop with the high ceilings and lack of acoustic foam. I was amused that the shop was staffed solely by four young white teen/twentysomethings, instead of the usual mix of Asians. There were only two tart flavors offered -- green tea and original -- along with a variety of fruit, chocolate, peanut butter, and other more traditional flavors. There was also an extensive topping bar, with cereals, candies, and fresh fruits. I was mildly surprised to see mochi balls among the offerings. You can also get a waffle cup instead of a paper cup, for $1 more. The price here is 44c an ounce, so our barely half-full cup cost about four and a half dollars. The boysenberry was very good, though the original tart was only vaguely tart, and had a powdery aftertaste. I imagine this shop will do well, simply for the novelty of self-serve and the varieties offered, but if it were anywhere other than the midwest, I would give it only two stars. read more

Loved that Menchies was simple. One size to choose from, and then you get to make you own, and it's priced by weight. Plenty of flavors to choose from, and the flavors are paired well so the options for swirl are good. Tons of toppings and syrups to choose from, I'd also recommend figuring out your toppings first, or your frozen yogurt will start get melty.
