However, that was not that case and the burden to return my unit to its pre-hurricane form fell upon me. As a non-local resident, I had heard that most contractors were way too busy to take on any additional work. After performing an internet search, I came across several contractors in the area including Gulf Shores Remodeling. Scott was the only contractor that returned my request for information. I was a little skeptical at first but something about our initial conversation put me at ease about hiring him, without a recommendation, from over 500 miles away. He indicated he was busy, but would be happy to look at the job and see if he could fit us in. We arranged for him to visit my Condo the next day. That next evening, as promised, Scott called to discuss what he saw that needed to be done and cover any other items that I wanted repaired. He asked to take his business partner back to the condo the next day so that they could give me an accurate quote. He followed through. We discussed everything that needed to be accomplished, agreed on a price, a start and completion date. I have completed many home improvement/remodel projects in my homes. Having done that, I am skeptical about completion dates. However, not only did Scott deliver the project on time he finished early. His work was outstanding, and he went above and beyond. An example of his character is below. Scott had completed the painting portion of the job and was kind enough to go back and take pictures to send to me. The previous day, I noticed the HOA contractor was in the unit with a paint brush via my security camera. I feared the worst. Scott phoned me with the bad news and my fears were correct. The worker had been sent into the unit to repair something that didn't need to be repaired. He did not notice the new paint, do any prep to protect the areas around where he would be working nor did he clean up after himself. In fact, the HOA contractor left paint and plaster all over my countertop and floors. Scott cleaned up the mess and repainted the area that was damaged by the HOA contractor. He took before and after photos of everything, including the HOA contractor mishap. His work was exceptional. Our condo is in better shape post Sally than pre Sally thanks to his work. I recommend Scott and Gulf Shores Remodeling without hesitation. If I ever have another project in the area, I will only be using them.

We had a nightmare experience…read more General Contractors are needed to make sure you stay on budget and meet your timeline and obviously to provide a quality finished project. None of these things happened in our case. From another state, we hired 5A to complete a full house remodeling job that included water damage and mold abatement. Although we could tell not much work had been done, he kept demanding more and more money from us. At one point he had not applied $40,000 that we had paid him, but was asking for more. After being way over budget and time, as well as, terrible work quality, we had to fire them and hire another company to take over and manage the job. We are now paying to re-work much of what had been done because it was so poorly executed and would never have met code. He rarely shows up on the job and he kept our property filthy. He had no respect for anything on our property. Windows were broken that we must now repair. He cuts corners! He would not communicate what was going on at our home or if he did, it was a lie. For example, we met one Saturday to go over the job and he never told us we had failed our inspection just 1 day prior. He kept atrocious books. When we asked to see his accounting, it was just a file of receipts that could have been for any job. He is so unprofessional. The builder will not respond to our letters asking for our deposit and other monies that are ours, so he left us no other recourse but to pursue it legally. It has been such a disappointing experience.
