I really want to give it 3.5 stars but there's nothing really wrong to give it 3. I was there late in the day about 7pm so take that into account. Very clean, good location and plenty of comfortable, outdoor seating. However the prepared foods are really lacking, especially compared to other Whole Foods. No sandwiches at all and sad pizza. However the Greek-style and salad bars are excellent and a decent value. Again, with a caveat: they use sunflower instead of olive oil. Why?? They have their own brand of excellent olive oil, why wouldn't they use that on their dolmas? Such a weird decision. It's not like you need the prepared foods to be shelf stable. Of course it tastes just like sunflower oil instead of olive oil. Sad. Otherwise the dolmas are really good, not dry or rubbery like they can be. Changing out the oil brought the flavor up from a 4 to a 7. The place is pretty small, maybe half the size of a typical grocery store. The alcohol section is tiny and picked through, The freshest breads sold out. Even saw a guy buy out their entire stock of 3 12-packs of farmhouse ale. If the place was bigger then they could have the foot traffic to offer more prepared foods and a larger stock. There's really no deli section, butcher or seafood section. They got rid of their house brand cold press juices which were excellent and priced well compared to the competition. The actual whole foods (cereals and beans) was not stocked for the most desirable stuff like black rice. Maybe 20% out of stock and the other 10% was clearly not stocked in a very long time. They did have buckwheat groats at $5.50/lb though which is fantastic. I think the Greek food and salad bar is the only redeeming quality because it's a good price and was fresh and stocked. Just be sure to poor off the oil and add your own olive oil and it tastes much better that way. If you're careful and observant you can find some good deals and rare products not stocked anywhere else. read more

Saturday morning, I attempted to check out at the self-serve register, as I have done many times (weekly) over the last six years. I had two separate transactions to make. I rang up the first transaction, before I could even put the first item in the bag, the cashier, Karen, rushed over, "Are you planning to pay for those items? You didn't ring everything up." I explained that I was making two separate transactions and that she should have waited until a theft actually occurred before accusing me of a crime/stealing. Karen, with her tail tucked between her legs walked way and mumbled a slight apology! From the start, Karen had a razor-sharp fixation on me from the moment I entered the self-checkout line. Security cameras are everywhere, so why would I steal a jar of honey when Karen was already breathing down my neck as I was ringing up my items? Words were exchanged, and she called for a manager. Meanwhile, an employee named Bozo, who was not even on the scene when Karen accused me of stealing, adamantly stated, "She didn't accuse you of stealing!" He automatically took her side without knowing what had happened. Bozo, who claimed to be a manager, had a smug, nonchalant, and accusatory disposition, making him extremely unprofessional. A manager? How? He knows nothing about conflict resolution, has no training in de-escalation, and only added fuel to the fire. As a manager, Bozo should have remained neutral until all the facts were presented. Instead, he called in more reinforcements, and they tried to gang up on me...even another customer joined in. It was an interesting dynamic! I kept laughing out of frustration because Bozo tried so hard to demonize me, even though I was the victim. . What't the point of my post? To express that Bozo and Karen are not lost prevention and need more training! I'm grateful to TikTok and other social media platforms for making me aware of scenarios such as this. I was already mentally prepared, which helped me remain calm and composed. However, still flabbergasted by the accusations. Kudos to Brian the manager, he handled things swiftly and professionally. Whether he genuinely cared or not, he at least made an attempt to lower the temperature. I guess I'm lucky? I'm 53 and have never experienced anything like this before. Majority will NEVER experience the micro aggressions, the internal biases, the stereotyping and the prejudgements, lucky you! Stopped in for some hot food to go about 1:30pm on a Sunday. The pizzas looked old, with only a cheese, pepperoni & mushroom & onion with only a -slice available of the latter. The hot food bar was not much better, all of the soups were basically empty, I wasn't able to find one that had even a pint of soup. I looked at the salad bar & it was dismal as well with everything pretty much empty & what was available did not look fresh & appetizing at all. The olive bar was well stocked, but that's not what I was looking for. No wonder I haven't been to a WF in years. I likely will not be patronizing them again after this experience. The lady who helped me with my beer purchase was extremely apathetic & questioned my out of state id because it had no expiration date which is not required as it's not a drivers license. It is a great atmosphere. Very accessible. I have to restrain myself as a chocoholic. There are Fair Trade Sourced options galore. Talk about dedication. An employee was lying on the floor, even with a group of shelves, stocking away. Ahhh Whole Foods Market. This has been on my mind for some time. I've been a little slack in the writing of my reviews. I am comparing this Whole Foods Market, to the one in Columbia, MD. It truly is amazing how two of the same stores, can be totally different. My first encounter with this location, was on Valentine's Day 2024. I went to pick me up some goodies. Yes to flowers! There were an array of flowers to choose from, that looked like they were dying. So sad. Silly, desperate me, purchased one anyway and yep, it was dead in two days. Next, treating myself to fruit. Though it was costlier than at other grocery stores, I purchased it anyway (shame on me); it grew fuzz, the very next day. Why isn't there anyone at your cheese station? I have cheese questions; where is everyone? No Challah during the Jewish holidays? Are you kidding me? It's still a fun place to shop at, but now I know; don't get the flowers, fruit, cheese and bread. I so miss the Columbia, MD based WFM. read more

FIRST TIME EVER.... I was in Lancaster and decided to stop for something to eat. The setup was everything, so many options. BUT.... When you get close up to both hot n cold salad bars ..... the food looked old, dried up and dead. It was maybe 1:30ish. Not only did the food look like it's been sitting there for 24 hours. I have Whole Foods envy. Those of us in the Harrisburg area have to drive a distance just to shop at a WF. I was excited when the built this in Lancaster because it shortened by drive by quite a bit to get to a WF. If you want trendier food options than what you find in most Susquehanna Valley super markets, this is your place. Lot of a green and organic choices. Great selection of options. A wide variety of grab and go selections (don't miss the cookies). Have a Mochi addiction? Like sushi? Want gourmet cheese? Like wholesome baked goods? Need good coffee? They have all the basics, many gourmet items, and a few exotic options. You can find personal care, cleaning products, desserts, meats, cheeses, produce, etc. Yes, the prices are more than at many places. My only complaint. The last time I was there I didn't have my Amazon Prime credit card. They said it was the only way to get the discount if I didn't have the app on my phone. Not true. I looked it up afterwards and I found there are other ways I could have gotten the discount. That's why they lose a star. read more

This Whole Foods Store tends to have mostly professional staff, when we call the phone will ring once or twice and we're greeted with a friendly, helpful employee happy to help. In store my experience is that about half of the staff is really professional and friendly, and the other is kind of frustrated to see people are in the store at all. I was disappointed recently when I came in at night. There was a man in the store acting unusual, and with a full face covering, not just mouth, I felt uneasy as he was behind me in line. I asked two employees if they could walk me to my car, first a male who said I should ask the customer service desk, and then the female at the customer service desk, and both treated me as if it was incredibly unusual to ask. The woman said if I wanted she'd watch my groceries and I could bring my car around? I explained that that doesn't help at all because I just would like company as i walked to my car. After no one helped me I stood by the entrance until a family came and walked as they walked to their car. I was disappointed with the staff members response. The man was erratic and even if it was nothing, I was alone and just felt uneasy. I hope in the future if a person would like some help someone would help them. Besides that experience, the store is tidy. The hot food is tasty and there are great products on the shelves. Especially the pastries and seafood. read more

After moving to rural central PA from the urban sprawl of Northern Virginia, I missed the grocery stores -- namely, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I've been watching this location since they broke ground, patiently waited for parking on opening day, and have been there at least twice weekly since then. It's not as big as some of the Whole Foods stores in the DC Metro area, but it completely delivers in the areas of fresh produce, great meats and cheeses, and lots of locally sourced brands -- from local dairies, which desperately need our support, to non-food items, like Sunrise Soap Company's bath products in the Health & Beauty section (which are cheaper at Whole Foods than they are at the company's Park City Mall location). Here's what you MUST try: BUTCHER STATION // The pre-marinated meats and sausages are amazing. We've tried the mango chicken kabobs, pork brats, provolone and broccoli rabe sausages, hot chorizo pork sausages, and garlic-lime boneless pork chops. FRESH PASTA // Unfortunately, the pre-made pasta is shipped in from New Jersey, but unless you have a ton of time to commit to making your own, this stuff is far superior than boxed pasta. Be careful, you'll get spoiled. SALAD & HOT BARS // If I worked a little closer, I would come here everyday for lunch. The salad bar options are fresh and there's so much variety! Not into rabbit food? There are pasta salads, multiple macaroni and cheeses, fish options, soups, and so much more. Walk around each station before deciding on the size of your container. Or, skip the bars and head for the pizzas. YUM. Fun features to try at least once: FRESHLY SQUEEZED JUICE // Fill your own jug of freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice. Kids love it, but your arms will get a little tired (and their attention span will waver) after a minute or two. MOCHI ICE CREAM // Dough-covered ice cream bites. They're pricey, but make for a quick and yummy treat for the little ones, especially in the summer heat. There are still a few local companies I love that I hope will find their way into Whole Foods -- such as Leidy's Pork and Whiff Roaster's coffee -- but have been happy with the selection thus far. The staff has all been very helpful, kind, and patient helping us navigate the aisles and finding the items on our grocery list. We're always met with smiling faces and friendly attitudes. As a parent, Whole Foods get bonus points for not stocking the checkout lanes with crap that is meant to get children's attention. I have no issue telling my daughter, no, she can't have a candy bar or a balloon, but I appreciate the store not putting me in that position to begin with. I also appreciate their magazine selection -- it's unpleasant having to steer your child away from the latest celebrity breakup headline on the cover of People, terribly Photoshoped supermodel on a pseudo-health magazine, or complete made up trash like the National Inquirer. Love this store! Part of me wishes it was closer, but part of me is glad because I love getting cool items we can't on a regular basis; the salad bar and corn salsa are amazing, along with the tortilla chips. Getting the juice, macarons, cheese...it's all great but watch your bill! It's so nice, clean, and so many options but you can definitely get overwhelmed and spend more than you meant to! I went on a Saturday evening and the place was crowded! This is a smaller location than the other WFM I've been to (Austin and Raleigh). Still, it's nice to have one near home. They had excellent selection of cheese, meats, seafood and butcher sections. I was told the dry aged beef is one of a kind and very popular. It might be true because I haven't noticed one of those in other grocery chains in the area. Olive bar had more choices than I've seen elsewhere. I particularly liked the fresh self-serve orange juice machine. I know that Wegmans sells fresh pre-bottled orange juice, but this definitely is "more" fresh. The other unique items were a fancy barista machine with various styles of coffees. WFM definitely has more choices of organic food. And I found the prices in line with other stores (some of them cheaper too). I also appreciated that they carry lot of local products with clear labeling. Macarons and Mochi were available too in many flavors. Plenty of fresh fruit offerings. I found delicious guavas which had come in the same morning. It's about time Lancaster and York Counties have a WFM to shop at. Went there yesterday with a pretty varied shopping list, including organic grass fed ground lamb, some odd vitamin supplements, and some particular, sometimes hard to find produce for my family's pet bearded dragons. I scored ALL the items on my list, making for a happy family, reptiles included. The store offers a varied selection of produce, much of it local which I love. The cashier was friendly and clued me in that as an amazon prime member, I am entitled to an additional discount. Plus they have a wine department...I didn't check it out this time as I knew I already had a crazy expensive amount of yummies in the cart, but will check it out next time. Coffee & juice station as soon as you enter, so you can sip & shop. Want to try anything, just as an associate. Very clean and tidy store. It is easy to see the happiness & pride the employees have for their store. Very attentive and kind would also describe this staff. They were on top of replenishing items on the pizza bar and food bar. I had a cup of their regular coffee while I shopped and it was delicious. They do support days - where proceeds from the day go to local organizations. What a lovely gesture. Overall a beautiful market with exceptional staff and delicious food. How lovely it is to be racially profiled in 2019. An employee wearing a red lumberjack shirt 10/19/2019 at around 12:30pm followed me around the store during my entire shopping trip. He met me, with silence, at every aisle and watched me shop. He awkwardly shuffled granola on the end cap while I picked out organic baby food and jumped up (literally) when I left the aisle, to follow me, or, in some cases meet me at the next aisle from the opposite end. What a smooth detective! Funny, I spend approximately $400 within my three days in town at this Whole Foods, only to still be mistreated for simply being Black, in America. What a beautiful way to start my last day in Lancaster, PA. I do, however, appreciate the lovely human, Matt, who helped me pick out a Hydroflask for my son. Matt is amazing. Honestly the Lancaster location is the worst Whole Foods I've been to. My wife & I lived in Richmond, VA prior to moving here- we loved nothing more than to go to the local WF for amazing meat, fish, and other groceries. The employees there were so friendly & helpful. Working there wasn't a "job" to them; it was their passion. The Lancaster WF has all of the same products as the Richmond location, but none of the "intangibles" that makes it fun to shop there. The employees at times aren't particularly helpful. The meat department is a joke - good luck ever getting anyone to cut you a steak there. Saturday I requested the butcher cut me some dry-aged steaks - he said "I am not approved to cut meat". This was - no lie - as he sliced a steak with his butcher knife. Twice employees there have been blatantly rude to me - more often they are just apathetic. Anyway, I still shop there for specific items but I derive none of the "joy" from the experience that I used to at other Whole Foods locations. read more

I came, saw, ate,and spent. That about sums up my first experience in a Whole Foods. This grocery store lives up to the legend but it ain't for poor folk! I came for the salad bar and it didn't disappoint. The salad and fresh food selections were just that, fresh. At the time of my visit there were several meat dishes and plenty of sides to choose from as well as a few Indian dishes. I've seen things here I haven't seen elsewhere and in time I will explore them all. But freshness has a price-tag, at $8.99/pound it is a bit high for a grocery store salad bar, but this is no ordinary grocery buffet! Everything appeared to be made fresh, in house, with quality ingredients. I especially liked that they didn't use plastic and Styrofoam but were conscious of the environment and offered recycled fiber bowls and plates. Aside from the salad bar(s) there were hot/cold grab and go meals, a deli making fresh sandwiches to order, and a pizza counter. Dining tables were available inside and out. A wine department, complete with it's own check out was nearby. Knowing I didn't have the budget to grocery shop here I didn't explore that section, which appears smaller than other area stores, but someday might splurge. The employees I encountered along the way admittingly didn't seem to know much about the store but tried their best. At checkout I inquired about coupons (they accept but don't double) and if discount loyalty cards are offered (no but discounts are available to Amazon Prime members). On the way out I passed several spots dedicated to electric cars complete with charging stations. At home the food was delicious. If you ever encounter the spinach, raspberry and blueberry salad with walnuts and balsamic dressing don't pass it up. That combination worked so well together! The brisket, although very fatty was falling apart, a brisket first for me, and my favorite of the dishes I tried. So while the prices will deter me from grocery shopping and I don't like the traffic patterns at Belmont I'll be back to eat like a baller at the buffet. read more

Overall I like the store. Love the seafood department and so far everyone I've come in contact with there has been super knowledgeable and nice. Prepared foods look amazing. This is a smaller WF, without the cool pub but with a very nice selection of wine, and there is one checkout where you can purchase both wine and food items together as long as you don't have too much. We don't have Prime and hate the way it is rewarded and pushed, but we figured this would happen with the Amazon takeover. Great selection of personal care products, and we spotted about 15 different vegan roasts at Thanksgiving. The buffet somehow seems smaller, but we always find cool things, and we appreciate all the ingredient listings. Wahhh, what happened to Meatless Mondays and the great discount for veg food? WF organic store brand 365 is a wonderful high-quality deal, so stock up! And what is wrong with me -- I can't leave those realistic stuffed animals alone. The story of the land of this whole Belmont shopping center is sad. Sometime look up the Mayer-Hess Farmstead. The 1871 house is still stunning, but the barn (moved to a bridal destination in Elizabethtown) was replaced by a big ugly lower-end hotel. read more

Let's start with the fact that we drove far too long just to go to Whole Foods, when we could have driven 6 minutes to Giant... let's move on to the fact that the employees were not helpful, nor were they polite. My friend and I were told to get out of the self check line because of a reason that is unknown to us. We walked up like normal each of us having our own carts with 5 open registers at self check out line. The lady literally told us to go to a register, because it would be easier for the cashier to bag our groceries for us, aka she didnt want to do it. At the register we got to deal with the most wonderful(sense my sarcasm) women. She was so salty with us, that the lady behind us in line saw the way she treated us and got out of line. We did not need to put up with her unexplained attitude nor did we do anything to deserve the comments and eye rolls. My family and I get pizza from here fairly regularly and there is zero consistency. I'm sitting here right now waiting for them to make me a new one because the one they gave me was still raw in the middle. The guy was nice about it, though. There's new people in here all the time and it's a roll of the dice if it's thin crust, thick, too cheesy, greasy, no sauce, burnt, or under cooked. Train your people better. The selection was decent, but I still prefer Wegman's over WF. We purchased a bakery item that I didn't think was anything special. We also bought some natural soaps. Overall I'm at a point of disbelief with this Whole Foods Location. On one hand, I love the vast selection & fresh/healthy & local approach. But I feel bad for the employees. In my 4 visits since they opened last Wed, I've tried to submit my application for a specialty dpt job. On both of those visits, I was referred to the company website with a notice that ALL depts need staff. I was directed to the WF site for open jobs, but the Lancaster store was but even showing up. I advised the store of this & my name/number was taken down but no return call was received. I went back to the store today ... a few of the jobs are now showing up, but I showed mgt that the applIcation is still stalling out at the first page. I was once again told to write down my name & #. The person in the specialty dept advised they're desparate for staff but no hiring is happening. OK, so here we are ... I've tried to apply for three weeks for jobs Whole Foods says are needed. The jobs are either not showing on the WF career site or they're not set up correctly & I can't submit my info. Conversely the day after I applied for Wegmans (all ft & or jobs are clearly listed ibn their site), I got a call. Today I had an excellent in-person interview with Murinda for available ft & pt jobs. Next steps were made clear to me. YET ANOTHER stop at Whole Foods had people in the speciality dept lost as to where to send me, people at CS advising me, yes indeed they need LOTS of staff ... & yet I once again left with nothing more than my name & contract info being written down on a napkin. If you are expecting the shopping experience you receive at a Whole Foods in a larger suburban area, you aren't going to find it here. This store should be called 3/4 Whole Foods Market. The store is small. Selection is limited. The health and beauty section is small. The coffee bar is not grande. The fresh bakery doesn't have the selection as typical stores. My favorite Whole Foods feature, the made to order sandwich counter at the Deli, doesn't even exist. It's been nearly three years since my original review and a lot has changed here, for the better too. The selections have improved, especially with the prepared fresh food counter, including the sushi sashimi section, and the pizza is pretty good too. Of course, the salad and food bars are closed thanks to Covid-19 but prior to that the variety of offerings were good and getting better. The staff is great and always helpful. If there's a certain item that you normally get but is missing they'll be happy to look "in the back" for you. I would also like to compliment them on a bakery purchase I made recently. While looking for a small birthday cake for my wife I stopped in the store and bought a very pretty decorated white cake with pink butter creme icing and it was stellar, some of the best tasting cake we've ever had. read more

Despite the fact that it was packed (which is a good thing) you surpassed my expectations immensely...The Color, the Samples, the Taste, the Service (seems to be lacking at a lot of places; but not here!), and the Selection were Awesome, Fantabulous, Well Done, Over the Top!!! My 12 year old daughter did not want to go to "another grocery store"...during our experience, she said, "Mom, I want to live here!" Loved the Sushi, the Cheeses, the Mochi Bar, Macaroon Bar, the Fresh Pasta Bar, and the Produce Especially! They had the largest and most beautiful Passion Fruit I ever saw which poetically shows how much Passion they put into what they do!!! Thank you for coming to Lancaster!!!
