My son went there for his haircut. He lives on campus at UCSD and was happy to find a place he could walk to that was reasonably priced. They give student discounts and that helped my son w his budget for his hair. There's a chain for men's haircut at the next shopping center and he was going to go there but couldn't afford to pay over $35 for a men's hair cut. I was glad he found this place and the person who cut his hair was so nice! He was pleased with his hair cut and even got a picture with his barber. I got an awful cut (he cut my hairline super short so I have hair sticking up in every direction which will take months of growing to repair) and had much more interest in the parking lot security than he did me and my I contacted him (don't know his name because he never gave me it) about the quality of the cut and he never responded. Finally! A place by my house where I can get a GOOD FADE, quick and cheap! I almost couldn't find this place because it is so small and hidden in the corner of a shopping center. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the barber and sat in the chair within 2 seconds of walking through the door. I told him I wanted a high skin fade and he knew exactly what I was talking about. The past few months, I've been going to female stylists who claim they can do a fade and they've been failing miserably, one after the other. I knew it was about time to get my haircut by a guy... someone who specializes in guys' haircuts. Within 15 minutes, my haircut was done... fast, efficient, and great quality. I'll start with the good. The barber seems like a very nice man, and was very easy to talk to, and the haircut was only $15 (student discount). However, the haircut was mediocre at best, and it took no more than 10 minutes. I felt rushed, and I didn't get the haircut that I necessarily wanted. I noticed this barber shop while frequenting one of the other business in the plaza. It was a Sunday and they were closed so I took note of the phone number and decided to call them on Tuesday to inquire about pricing. The sign in the window read that they opened at 10:30 so I called at 11. No answer. I tried again at 11:30 and a few more times after 13:00. Still no answer. I drove by the following day during business hours and noticed several people in the establishment. While looking directly at the barber I called again from my car ..still no answer. I got out of the car and walked to the door and literally stood there for what seemed like a full minute waiting to be greeted. No hello, no welcome, no acknoledgment of any kind, nothing!! It was as though I didn't exist. This place is not bigger than a small closet so the barber was very clearly aware of my presence. I literally felt as though they had no interest in my business. I have lived in San Diego for 7 years and I've been getting cut by Dom for 7 years, that should say it all. Coming down from the Bay, I was used to getting cut by true barbers and true barbershops. I went ONE time to some other place that cut hair (not a barbershop) and used the words "fade" and "taper" and they looked at me like I was crazy. Then I found Dom's shop and never left. Dom is a great barber and actually cares about his customers. Him and I text on a regular basis and he always responds when I try to hit him up for appointments. After reading the reviews on Yelp! I decided to go and check out the barbershop. This barber shop visit became a two part visit. The first time I went the barber gave me a haircut that I liked. However, he cut me when he gave me a hardline on the part and this part was actually really painful and is bloody now. Although the barber is friendly, it seems like he is just trying to get you in and out as quick as possible. The hardline is fairly straight but the blood and pain was definitely not worth it. read more

As a barber, this man is absolutely trash. Out of three chances that I've given this guy, NOT ONCE have I walked out from his barbershop to my car and thought, "man, this guy knows how to fade!" On the contrary--after every haircut, I've gone home frustrated and disappointed at the fact that this guy can't follow preschool-level instructions. After one of my visits, I combed my hair back and saw that he even left a clump of uncut hair on top--despite the fact that he used clippers and thus no freehand. So if all you're looking to get is your hair mowed off (half-assed, for that matter) with no regard to a semi-decent look, then come and get your hair shaved here with "Dom." Let me put it this way: his mediocre haircuts have convinced me to spend over $100 for Andis Masters hair clippers+guards to learn to fade my own hair from now until either I (or the clippers) ROT. What's laughable is the fact that he says he's been cutting students' hair at this barbershop for 10 years, because he still can't follow explicit instructions. The only reason he has good reviews and enough to make ends meet is because every year, a new wave of desperate UCSD students (inevitably in need of a haircut) stumble upon this barbershop since it's right off campus. As for his $15 "student discounts," I wouldn't even pay half that price to get another haircut from this sorry barber. But like I said, if all you want is your hair chopped off and you have no intent of wowing anybody with your new haircut, then go here and pay Dom $18+tip. But personally, I care about how I look and how I spend my money, so I will be cutting my own hair instead of wasting money with this sorry excuse of a barber. read more

My husband was looking for a barber close to our home. He wanted someone who knew what they were doing also at a reasonable price. Most salons want to charge $45 plus! He doesn't have that much hair! Anyway, we researched through YELP and found "Who's Next Barber" Dom, the owner, was absolutely charming and with a very friendly disposition! Checked this place out since it was the only barbershop near UCSD while I was living on campus and didn't have a car. I asked for a basic combover with a high fade but he messed up my hair. Ended up going up as high as my cowlick and said he was done after only 15 minutes. I could tell he had preference over certain customers since there was some white guy in his mid 30s that went before me and received better customer service and he took a good 30 minutes to cut his hair versus skimping out on giving a college student a decent haircut. Would not recommend. You're better off going to the salon place on campus. read more

Let me start off this way, this is the only barber I have not tipped in all my life. I made sure to tell him that I wanted the top untouched for I was growing it out for braids. As I was getting my cut I knew he went to high on the upper back part of my head. I had to get a bald fade with a 3 on top in order to fix this at a different barbershop. It's very hard to find a black barber shop in the UTC/La Jolla area, this guy is AMAZING!! He is very affordable too and a really cool person, he is a vet and does a really good job with a bald fade which is hard to do. I've gone to other barbershops in the area and they claim to know how to fade but they do a terrible job. This guy is the real deal. read more

Not really sure what all the bashing is about, this is my favorite place to get a cut by far! I'm decently new to the SD area and Dom was the first guy I came across.
