Went here to get shaves the day before my friend's wedding with the groom, his father and groomsmen. Left looking worse than when we arrived. During the shave it felt like they were dragging the razor across my face, if I'd have to guess I'd say that the razor was dull. At the end of it the barber mentioned there were 'a couple cuts' that he needed to clean up. I didn't realize until afterwards what he meant by 'a couple'.. (I've added photos so you can see for yourself) For a place that charges a premium for a shave this was the worst shave of my life. I left with irritated skin and many cuts. I also had a fresh nose piercing that I told the barber beforehand and multiple times throughout to avoid touching. He ended up bumping into it three times and dragged a towel over it. SIX STAR REVIEW! ALERT!!! Vinny is a barber by the people for the people!! While most shops are closed on Mondays, Vinny is open for business. I called him at 4:00pm on Monday. Vinny squeezed me in at 5:45pm when he typically closes shop at 6:00pm. He happily sat me and did a fantastic job. Wasn't rushed and kept the place open late for me. Solid cut from a solid dude. Came across this cool barbershop while walking thru La Jolla and decided to check it out. My guy was overdue for a trim. Vinny's appointment was 15 mins late so he said he would take my husband right away. Vinny is very likable, professional and all about the details. He asked what my husband was wanting and then went to work. He honestly gave him the best beard trim ever and reshaped his hairstyle to what he wanted. It was a great experience and will surely come back to see him. On a side note, the shop is well decorated and Vinny did it all himself. His barber chairs are super sweet!
