Three days later they called me and told me it was fixed! I didn't authorize an engine replacement for thousands of dollars so I knew that couldn't be it... But I had told them to evaluate it & if it needed major repairs just give me an estimate. Drove there expecting to get the bad news, walked in and they said "it's fixed, your bill came to $299". I was overly pleased but just a little skeptical on how something running so bad could be fixed for 300 bucks?? Wondered how long it would be before it would start back with smoking etc. and expected maybe 50 miles. It's been a few weeks and 790 miles later & it's still running like it did years ago - great with excellent power(and NO smoke). And I don't expect anything to change. I guess it just needed a thorough work up by an excellent mechanic. Needless to say I would recommend anyone that wants their vehicle repaired right at a fair price by an amazing mechanic they should go to Kelly's VIP! We were only about 7 miles out from our hotel, but we were worried we might be looking at a transmission replacement as it seemed like the transmission went "limp" and wouldn't change gears while driving! The team at Budget Radiator and Automotive got us in quickly, took the time to thoroughly diagnose the problem, and didn't jump to conclusions or try to sell us unnecessary repairs. They found that the alternator had failed, but they didn't stop there. During the repair they discovered the serpentine belt and tensioner were also failing because the belt kept slipping off. They explained everything clearly, showed us what was happening, and made sure the repair was done correctly. After replacing the alternator, serpentine belt, and tensioner, they checked the transmission fluid at my request, (which looked great), then test drove the van for about 20 miles to make sure everything was working properly before calling us. That's the kind of attention to detail and professionalism every customer hopes for. The van now runs beautifully, all of the warning lights are gone, and we have complete confidence driving it home. When you're traveling and your vehicle breaks down hundreds of miles from home, you're putting a lot of trust in a repair shop you've never met. Our car broke down in Fordland and we found this place with google. They were rude from the…read morebeginning and acted like they didn't have time to hear what was wrong. They were rude throughout the entire process and very expensive. We live almost 100 miles away and asked if we Could pay over the phone and pick it up after hours because we couldn't make it there before they closed. The guy said no. So we loaded up our 4 kids immediately after work and called and let them know that it would be 30 mins after close by the time we got there. The guy was EXTREMELY RUDE and said he didn't want to wait and didn't want to let us pay over the phone either. He then asked us to pay over the phone and we did. So relieved to be done dealing with them. Car trouble is stressful enough, the last thing you need is to deal with hateful people throughout the process.
