So many beautiful things meant that I knocked off a whole pile of Christmas shopping while visiting for Canada Day, plus some adorable sandpiper earrings as a souvenir for myself. The owner is friendly and knows about all the artists providing things for sale in her store. I was wearing the earrings through the next day and found after we'd left PEI that one sandpiper fell off. I contacted the store and they very quickly got back to me and put a new pair in the mail to replace the first. Can't ask for much more than that. Definitely stop in if you're visiting the Island and want something more unique than the standard souvenirs to remember it by.

This downtown Charlottetown store celebrates Anne in some surprisingly good ways. We say surprising because this isn't your too-typical souvenir shop with lots to ticky-tacky items for sale. Even the Anne dolls are as cute as can be, though we wonder if you have to have red-hair to work here, as it seemed to us. But there are grown-up souvenirs too, among them some attractive pieces of clothing (yes, definitely some gloriously old-fashioned Anne dresses) and things like exquisite English teapots, saucers and the like. We thought it was most appealing, and even the bumper stickers were sort of classy if that doesn't sound positively peculiar. Both Gayle and I found some nice gifts, and my only regret is giving away a really cool magnet that Gayle's sister took a fancy to. I highly recommend this place to anyone else who happens to be in the neighborhood.

It's like years of a tickle trunk all crammed into one space. The staff was super helpful the day I visited, helping me find what I needed and giving suggestions in terms of props. And if you are looking to make your own, there are lots of props to choose from. Hats, wigs, funny shoes, clown noses, makeup. It goes on and on with a wide selection of used clothes to round things out. The best part is that it's all so inexpensive. I'm frugal when it comes to spending money on these once-a-year getups and shop around to save $$$. These prices are some of the least expensive I've seen. There are some full-fledged new costumes to buy as well but with the selection of used costumes and accessories, it's more fun to make your own.
