    Currywurst!
    Mark S.

You can't go to Vienna without stopping by one of the many wurst or sausage stands. It is a perfect way to enjoy a quick bite to eat and not to mention locals enjoy it as well! For me, I developed a taste for Currywurst when I visited Munich so I immediately ordered that once I saw it on the menu. It comes with a slice of delicious brot or bread and also comes with a generous dab of mustard. You even get a tiny plastic fork thing so you don't have to get your hands messy with the curry powder. This location is conviently located in Stephansplatz which has its own u-bahn station for quick access.

Maybe not this exact wurst stand, but they are respecting the tradition of this location by serving some of the best wurst in Vienna. Truthfully it was the best I had, including quite a few sit down locations, so I can highly recommend this unassuming sausage stand. Kasekrainer - cheese sausage, was outstanding and I came back to get a 2nd one a couple of days later. The cheese was nice and melted without oozing all over the place. Their website says something about using a truffle cheese from Kaseland at the Naschmarkt, but I didn't really pick up a truffle flavor, perhaps that's a different specialty sausage. However whatever cheese they used was very tasty. Burenwurst - I found this sausage a little smokey and full of flavor. My wife preferred this one, and I preferred the cheese sausage. Can't go wrong either way. Sausages are cut in pieces and served with bread on the side, which is great for sharing and if you are going to be snacking around the Naschmarkt. I never really figured out what the shredded topping was. It was a little crunchy, didn't have that much flavor to it. Maybe shredded radish, but it provided more of a texture than flavor with the sausage. Anyway this little sausage stand makes a nice 1 2 stop along with Urbanek just around the corner to get your Naschmarket food tour going. Don't miss out, and make sure you stop by for one of the best Kasekrainer in town.

We were walking back to the hotel and realized we needed to grab a bite before calling it a night. Luckily we walked down the right street and right into Hefenbrüder. The door was wide open and a chalk signage said "Charity Event" open until 8pm. As we waltzed right in the wife of the owner explained the charity event but welcomed us right in and sat us down. The concept of a pizza to share and cut with a scissor was so enticing we couldn't help but stay! As we were taken care by our waiter ( a very friendly young man with great English) we couldn't help but notice the owner's family working behind the counter for the charity, which gives a hot meal and a bag full of food and toiletries to the homeless. Even their young daughter explained that they believed everyone deserved a hot meal and a good time on Christmas. As New Yorkers, we highly recommend this pizza and this place! The industrial feel and the positive energy are undeniable. Thank you to the owner and his family and team for such a wonderful experience !!! Great great great. Dankeeee!

Found this cozy spot a few blocks off the Stadtpark and figured I'd give it a shot. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.
