This is specifically for Dr. Ansari. My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It took Dr. Ansari two weeks before he saw my father cause he was on vacation. When he finally saw him he was incredibly rude and unsympathetic. He talked down to my father . My Dad asked about a sore on his neck and the doctor scoffed and said that's the least of your worries. Well that sore was the main thing that bothered my Dad during his last few months and was the main worry for me and the Hospice staff (who were wonderful) Dr. Ansari is a horrible person and I wish the absolute worst for him and his family read more

I am really unhappy about the care I received here on Tuesday April 25,2023. I was there for food poisoning and dehydration. I wanted an iv and pain relief . Instead they decided to give me so many ridiculous tests . I had an ekg and so many blood tests. Plus a ct scan which I absolutely did not need. I asked continuously to get an ultrasound or mri instead but I was ignored. Just because I have good insurance doesn't mean they have to subject to me dangerous amounts of radiation. Now I will have to worry for the rest of my life if I am going to get cancer . They didn't even cover my chest or thyroid to protect them. I'm beside myself. I could not even get my husbands support because their Covid tests take over an hour and a half. My doctor was Dr Tooley. I think I barely saw him. Next time I would rather stay dehydrated then take a chance on this place. I now have to be on the lookout for cancer for the rest of my life . Thanks for nothing. This was my last day of vacation too. This place is a joke. read more

Gave one star because no stars weren't an option. This is one of the worst places to go if you are in pain and actually need help. I went in in such a state and deeply regretted it. I could hear the er staff in the back ground laughing and gossiping about my condition. I heard them say I'm on drugs or crazy (neither the case). Even saw one of the nurses moth the word "drugs" to another nurse as I had been explaining my situation. i told the Dr on call what happened, she began to "de-escalate" me. Like I did something wrong!! Sorry, but having to hear professionals talking about you like that is unacceptable ! I've had all the trainings on de escalating someone... I knew exactly what she was doing, and in a very demeaning way. I don't care who you are, if you're on drugs or not, mentally unstable or not, nobody, and I mean NOBODY deserves to be humiliated treated like that. The staff did nothing to help me, not even a band aid .... And charged me $1300.00 to be humiliated and sent off in severe pain. horrible place..... if you can go anywhere but there, please do so. At the end of the day, I was right about what I went in for. Had they taken it seriously and did their jobs, it would have saved me a lot of pain and time. I'm still dealing with it and hope nobody ever has to go through that. read more

I from experience, and not being the only one that can tell you that the Wilcox ER staff is so contradictory to what Wilcox's Mission statement is supposed to be, it is unbelievable! There really isn't any compassion or understanding and barely any actual care for your wellbeing. IF any of that little care is shown, it is nullified by the insincerity and condescension shown towards you. Their check in procedure is baffling as well! Sometimes when go there to get Help, they refuse you and turn you away to fend for yourself. On the other hand, when you DON'T want their help and is refusing services, they can and WILL force you in, hold you AGAINST your will, and deny you of your rights! (Even though the paperwork they force you to sign says you hereby acknowledge that you DO have "rights" that Wilcox is SUPPOSED to honor and follow!) One thing I will say about Wilcox that they do do efficiently, is that their billing department is super quick to hand you the large fee you have to pay for the unwanted services you were forced to receive! That is a pretty good racket they got there! IF you MUST go there, just make sure you ask a lot of questions; don't take anything for granted and VERIFY everything they tell you; have your own documentation of your visit, JUST IN CASE; and GOOD LUCK! There is a good reason why the Kauai Residents makes jokes that you have better odds in Vegas than at the Wilcox ER! read more

They called me to pick up my 82 year old father from the ER. They just left him outside the facility. No one called me to say what was going on. But what can you do when it's the only facility? Terrible. BTW He ended up going back 2 more times because they don't treat you for what ails you . They just give you a pain killer and tell you to call your PCP in the morning. read more

Doctor Conrad is the worst doctor I have ever come across in my 12 years of chronic illness as a patient. The audacity that this man has to laugh in the face of someone who has faced severe pain for a long duration of life is unparalleled. I would not recommend anyone be seen by this man who would not even listen to a sentence of what I was experiencing in an empty emergency room. His time is too valuable to spend with his patients, obviously much better spent parading his authority around the nurses. Never have I been more quickly misdiagnosed and pushed out the door by someone who acted like I was just trying to get a quick fix (when I have no history of drug addiction or had even mentioned some relief for the extreme pain I have found myself in). After exiting the ER, I felt like I've taken a step backwards, a step in the wrong direction from seeking help or shelter from my underlying condition. A step towards spiraling into an unknown future in which I could there was no help for me. A step towards slipping through the cracks. I would not be surprised if this man has led people to self-harm, as my depression and anxiety about my condition only increased when I was graced with "Dr." Conrad's presence. read more

The staff at the ER are both quick and thoughtful which is a great relief when you have a sick baby and you just want to make him better. The wait was less than 10 min to be evaluated and our triage nurse and doctor were very attentive and calming. If you need care for your baby and your nervous about seeming over cautious get over it and come in for help. read more

We had a very sick almost six-month-old who was wheezing and had a terrible cough and fever, and we rushed him to the ER the day after we arrived (we're from California). We waited for ONLY about an hour to be seen - they apologized for that (haha! come to our neck of the woods). The ER staff here was exceptionally good in caring for our family. Big shoutout to RN Cory, Dr. Hemingway, and the respiratory therapist (I'm sorry for forgetting her name, but she used to work at Sutter Davis near us). Thank you!!! Came here with neck/shoulder pain from a chiro adjustment gone wrong in LA. Was worried my wife and I would have to return to LA and cut our trip off early. Everyone was very friendly and the total time in and out was about 4 hrs, with xrays and a neurologist visit, great crew and made me feel comfortable. there aren't a lot of options for after hours medical care here on kauai. there is one urgent care that closes at 7PM most days and two other emergency rooms, but wilcox memorial hospital is the best and most advance. whenever we end up here, the staff is amazing. from the receptionists checking you in, to the assisting staff who take your vitals and chief complaints, the nurses who are very caring and try to make you as comfortable as they can, and the doctors who genuinely care and take care of you to the best of their ability. i feel confident that my health and the health of my 'ohana is in good hands when we come to wilcox memorial hospital emergency room. read more

It sucks to get hurt while on vacation in paradise, particularly if you are enjoying yourself surfing and a rookie surfer in your vicinity loses control and slams his board into your head and opens an 8 stitch gash by your eye. This event had the potential to really put a damper on our vacation but the team at the Wilcox ER worked like a well oiled machine to patch up my husband and get us on our way a mere hour and a half after we walked through their doors. The ladies in admittance were very pleasant, the two nurses (Esther & a female nurse whose name escapes us) could not have been nicer and Dr. Schumacher was not only very competent but was extremely personable. Even the lady who handles the insurance and billing was super nice. It would be best if you could avoid having to come here but if you can't it seems to me that you will be in good hands. One caveat: once the bills came in we realized that we were charged $31 for EVERY MINUTE that we spent in the ER. You better have good insurance! read more

Amazing staff! Quick, efficient, and thorough. I sustained an injury surfing and was able to be seen by a physician very quickly. Great service from the nurses checking you in to the physicians. You could get on a flight from the mainland, be worked up and have better service in less time that it would take you to wait on any typical hospital in the mainland. read more

My experience was very different than the others here so far. The place was very very busy. Desk person said it would be a few minutes, which turned out to be over two hours with no communication during this time. They didn't have a room for us so they put us in a spare exam room. I was cold, uncomfortable, in pain and needed a restroom. My husband got yelled at when he tried to go find some food and a bathroom. Later discovered a bathroom just outside our back door...would have been nice if someone had told us. I felt that the waiting room staff and the initial evaluating nurse were uncaring and lacked understanding or compassion for the pain and discomfort I was in. They completely lacked in the nurturing department. The eventual doctor and the nurse with him were very good and kind...they are the only reason this place gets any stars. However they only gave me 1 dose of pain medication, while I was there, which caused me to have to suffer in a lot of pain the next few days and my doctor at home couldn't help because she is out of state. read more

7 days of paradise and then WHAM I got sick and had to visit the ER. I was really down and out...come to find out I have a kidney infection...ugh. Anyways, I was in at 5:30 am and out by 11 am. Super friendly nurses, admin and Dr. Oh wait, there was one exception...the lady that gave me the ultrasound of my gallbladder. She was NOT happy to be called in on a Saturday but I guess I can understand but she was NOT very nice. But other than that...everything was great. read more

checked in @ 9:30pm, they took me right in. I was in so much pain that I can't remember the staffs names, but they took good care of me. one of the rn's put my iv needle in did such a great job, it usually takes a while until someone finds the right vein. they ran all the necessary test for me and I didn't even have to wait. everything was one after another. test results were in within at least 20min. usually it takes an hour in between each testing and results could take up to a whole day. I was impressed. I was so worried about being admitted but Dr said I could go home and they found my problem fast. I was out at 11pm. the whole visit was only 1 1/2 hr. thank u so much Wilcox, u guys are awesome. read more

i was left in awe at how fast and efficient my visit for a broken wrist was. took at most an hour and 15 minutes to be admitted (first time patient), x-rayed, and splinted by the awesome team there. i am from south florida where health care (emphasis on the word care) is just plain pitiful. i can imagine easily spending half a day in the emergency room waiting to be seen by a usually condescending and less than friendly excuse for a doctor to whom my questions about my health are for some strange reason interpreted as an affront to his/her knowledge/authority. those doctors only care about their status and pocket. not the case at wilcox memorial hospital. a HUGE HUGE thank you to the team there, and particularly to dr. christopher d. elliot and his assistant for making my visit literally painless ! you are awesome, and exactly what every doctor should be like.thank you for being patient, informative, knowledgeable, friendly and thorough ! as i am typing up this review with my only working hand one letter at a time, it matters not to me how long it's taking as the praises are well deserved and well worth my time and effort. i'm only dreading my visit to the orthopedist tomorrow here in south florida as i already know it won't be anywere near as pleasant as my visit in kaua'i ! read more
