Based on bringing someone under the age of 10. Long story short, if you have older kids or want to experience this as an adult, I'm sure it's worth it - but to bring younger kids it is a total waste of time and money. We brought our 4 1/2 year old here one day. We were so excited because on the website it promises over an hour of course time. I thought it would be a great way to kill some time since we've been cooped up with the covid quarantine. We drove an hour to get here and my 4 year old was so excited to start. After we paid we were directed to an area to put on our harnesses. I noticed that my child's harness was way too loose and pointed out that it was unsafe (we are experienced rock climbers) and the kid setting it up kept reassuring me that it was "fine" without even really looking. That was really concerning to me. I ended up fixing it on my own of course. We got up on the course and ready to start. I paid for myself, my boyfriend and my child plus a tip. Over 60 dollars. Guess how long it took 2 adults and one 4 year old to make it to the end of the course *and* back to the start? Completing it twice. Under 15 minutes. It was completely underwhelming. My child begged to do more of the course but they wouldn't let us and said we could just keep doing the same one over again. I was upset because in my head I was thinking it would take an hour or so to do this super long course, but we were done in under 15 minutes. It wasn't worth the price or the drive! Long story short, if you have older kids or want to experience this as an adult, I'm sure it's worth it - but to bring younger kids here is a total waste of time and money. I did reach out to them to share my thoughts and I never received a response. I will say that if the course was longer for younger kids and we had more challenges then it would be totally worth it! I initially started with one star but added another because my kid did have fun while it lasted. If it didn't cause an epic meltdown when he realized it was over and that he couldn't do any more of the course then it would easily be 5 stars. ***Updated back to one star because of the response saying we chose to not upgrade, which is entirely untrue. We did not get any offer to "upgrade" to the 'challenge course' when we were there. The kids operating the course said our child wouldn't be able to do the bigger course because he would have to be able to clip himself in, and the line was twice as tall as he is - so no, we didn't get offered an 'upgrade' because we were told he couldn't do it, nor did I ask for a 'free upgrade'. I stand by my review. Don't bother unless you have older kids. read more

Just had an awesome experience! My six year old son, who was extremely nervous coming this time and couldn't complete the easiest course last time, crushed it! The staff was excellent at keeping everyone comfortable and safe. Very friendly environment complete with an adopted pet chicken! I love that chicken. I had been meaning to go to Wild Blue Ropes for awhile. I kept seeing it and have been wanting to try it. And so I grabbed a friend and we went. First thing I'd like to say, is that upon check in, they offer free gloves. Get them, use them. Some people say you don't need them but if you have soft amazing hands like me (lol) you will want them. Also, bring water! They sell drinks as well so if you don't have anything, you can buy a drink. But you will need something to drink. Especially on a hot day. The employees were super friendly and fun. After a quick lesson and putting on the harness with one of the staff, we climbed pretty much all day. We got the package where you can go wherever, and that we did. I think we were there for about 3 hours. Even though I was exhausted, I still wanted to climb and play. It was such a good experience with tons of obstacles that go from easy to hard. The employees are there to keep you safe and try to encourage you to solve your own problems. I got stuck on the hardest obstacle and the staff just told me how to fix it. LOVE. This is a fantastic new place in James Island and I cannot wait to go back. The staff is awesome! They were thorough in their safety checks and training. They messed around, which was nice. They weren't uptight like some places can be. The course itself was amazing. Well designed. When you look at it, you think "pshh easy peasy" yeah, no. It was quite the challenge. There were three levels and you knew where you were headed based on colored toggles. I felt like a little kid again. It was quite the upper body work out. Can't wait to be back and I highly recommend it to everyone. The only problem we had was with thunder. Every time it thundered, there was a thirty minute delay. It restarted with each new roll of thunder. You can take all the time you want on the course, but waiting was a bit of a bummer. Planning was a breeze!! Climbing was a blast!! I reached out for a team event and the owner, Hugh, was super responsive and helpful, providing me with the options that would fit within our budget. Once our team agreed on a date and time, he accommodated us after normal business hours with ease, of which we were so grateful for! With only 1 person of 14 having climbed the course before, everyone picked up Hugh's instructions quickly and was comfortable climbing. You can go around the difficulty levels of the course at your own pace, which was convenient for all. Hugh was also readily available on the course to help us with tips/tricks to get through the paths or if there were any questions. Everyone, from the most athletic to the least, had a really great time! We even enjoyed Hugh's playlist too! We made our first trip to Wild Blue Ropes yesterday for the adult-only night climb (only $35 a person). After getting us suited up and showing us how to hook/unhook ourselves, we were let loose on the course. I'm not going to lie, when I stepped out onto the first challenge, I briefly questioned my own sanity and wondered what on earth I had gotten myself into... But it was SO awesome!!! The course is challenging physically and mentally but it is absolutely worth every penny. I especially loved getting to belay off the top platforms (sit on ledge and jump off of it) and tackling some of the more intimidating challenges. We spent the entire three hours there and didn't get to all of the challenges... So we will definitely be going back. I recommend bringing bug spray (they do have some you can borrow too) and wearing comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. read more

Really cool place. We went with a boy scout troop. They had a blast. The course goes up as high as 3 stories and has several different skill levels. The kids climbed all over for a couple of hours and still didn't complete every obsitcle. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They have a cold water cooler out, but bring your own cup or bottle to fill as needed for free. They also sell snacks and drinks inside. Bring your own gloves if you think you will need (our kids did fine without). You can get gloves there but there is a $5 cost. Place was clean and well kept. Great adventure for all ages. I'm all about anything that tests your mental and physical toughness, and Wild Blue Ropes definitely delivers. My wife took me here as a birthday present, and we ended up spending two and a half hours embracing our inner children and ancestral chimps! It's a little pricey (our total for two adults came to about $114), but the price covers you for as long you want while you're there that day. It took about two hours for my wife and I to cover every obstacle. I had seen people talking about it being a workout, but was doubtful after the first two obstacles. I hit the black (hardest level) about an hour in and realized there was indeed a good challenge awaiting. The harness system is super safe and secure. It's a double caribiner locking system that ensures you always have a harness secured to a wire. The staff is great. They're all really friendly and upbeat. They put you at ease doing something that would naturally make most people uneasy. My wife and I had a blast at Wild Blue. We'll surely be returning, and we'll be bringing friends! read more

Phenomenal experience!! Kids 10 & 12 loved it and scurried all around the course. They have it setup like a ski mountain with Green (easy) Blue (harder) and Black Hardest. Crazy cool safety harness system to click in and move around. You choose what path you take. The auto belay down from the second level was a leap of faith at first but an awesome gentle ride down to the ground. Megan our Trainer/Guide was fantastic and climbed with us, passing tips along the way and helping face fears on the hard ones. Definitely takes you out of your comfort zone but you come out stronger because of it. Kids talked my wife and I into h Owner (didn't get his name) was a great guy-checking in with us a few times to see how things are going. You can tell he loves what he does. My boyfriend and I went here on a weekend trip to Charleston. While this may not be your "typical" vacation activity, we were both so happy we found this spot and decided to take on the challenge. The staff is super helpful and motivating! They jump in to help when they see you're being challenged and make sure you push your limits. We signed up for the first reservation spot at 10am and we're thrilled to have the course to ourselves for the first hour - being an early bird paid off! On top of it all, the staff gave us awesome recommendations for the rest of our time in Charleston! One recommendation for the ladies is to where Capri or long athletic pants - not shorts. read more

If you are looking for a fun, yet challenging activity, then this place is worth a try. The course itself, although still large, was a bit smaller than I expected it to be, but trust me, it just as high! So when you drive up to the location you are driving up to a mobile home and can clearly see the course just behind. You typically have to have reservations made to hold a time slot for your party and you can do so on their website. Once inside they verify the reservation but if you chose the EXPLORERS GATEWAY CLIMB for $19.00 be prepared to be upcharged another $10.00 since this course is specifically intended for children Ages 5 to 9 even though it does describe it as the "beginner course." It does specify older Children & adults welcome but not really intended for adult beginners. Once you decide to pay more the more advance course they will have you fill out a waiver if you haven't done so already. Afterwards, you will be taken just outback to the course and instructed how to properly wear the gear and maneuver through the course. The course in general is definitely challenging. Ranging from moderate to extreme (aka: the tarzan) which is the course that has only knotted ropes for you to swing from. You definitely do gain a sense of bravery though considering that you are harnessed at all times. I will say that the ride down the pulley once you've reached the highest platforms is the scariest/funnest part. Overall the staff and course are good and I am happy that we tried it. However I couldn't quite get passed a 3 star simply because of the cost personally. Especially after reserving online for $20 person but then having to pay $30 more (PER PERSON by the way!) I originally thought it was only $10 additional per person to add to what we had already paid to reserve but after it was all said and done we paid $100 for two people to climb for two hours?! For some, the cost will be justifiable I am sure but the cost seems way too steep. read more

We took our children this weekend who are six and eight years old, and they had ups and downs while on the course but what I'm most happy about is that a young gentleman name Otto worked my son through the downs to where now I feel he has the confidence to overcome other situations and is now excited to come back and do the ropes course again. This was my first trip to Wild Blue Ropes Adventure Park and it was truly unforgettable. We booked a private event from 6 - 9 PM last night with 10 people and Hugh, the owner was incredible. Our private event started out with an hour of team building activities and ended with 2 hours on the ropes course as the sun was setting. It was such a fun, challenging, team building experience. Hugh was knowledgeable, kind, encouraging and helpful in every way. I'm so glad to have met him and been able to visit this establishment that he's created for the community to enjoy. I highly recommend coming here for any and all occasions! The best advice I can give is to wear comfortable workout clothing and to have good grips on your tennis shoes. read more

One word... AWESOME! At first I was a little hesitant to go. How much fun could it really be? Isn't it really for kids? Well, it's actually exhilarating for all ages! My wife and I went together and had a blast for nearly 3 hours. There is a range of difficulties. You could be in terrible shape and still have a good time on the really easy obstacles. Same goes for if you are in great shape. I like to think I am fairly fit, and there were some hurdles I couldn't do. Some obstacles are really good if you want the challenge! Personally, I am afraid of heights, but the difficulty builds gradually, so by the end of it I had tried nearly every obstacle and my fears had subsided. Their equipment was really top notch. At one point I was so nerve racked I was trying to unhook my safety harness by accident, but the special mechanism doesn't make it possible for you to unhook until your on the ground. Really clever design. To top it all off, the staff is a really great group of guys. They definitely make you feel safe, and offer tips to help you on the more difficult obstacles. Great attitudes and really positive. No matter how ridiculous you may feel, they will put you at ease and help you have fun! read more

We had a beautiful time last night! My husband and i along with 3 others couples took advantage of their fun couples night! I was quite surprised that i could do the course to the level that I did. That doesn't mean it's easy..... it is not! They just do a fabulous job giving you pointers on ways you can do it with help from wires and ropes, etc. Then when you get better at it you can advance to doing it handfree or just using the necessary apparatuses without the wire! Really ingenious motivation!! Also, they have much more challenging parts that I did not even venture into YET!! But because of the way they the course I am motivated to continue. It was also quite inspiring to see so many working together and laughing and building strength. And THE STAFF! They were amazing and helpful and fun! Really top notch business!! read more

This was such a fun time! I took my 5 year old nephew here shortly after Christmas, but was a little nervous about him not being big enough to do the course. The team there eased our minds and put us in the hands of a super knowledgeable guy to oversee our climbing. Surprisingly, my nephew did very well through most of the course. The way you are looped into the cables on the course gives you a really sense of safety and security, so you can enjoy yourself. On one of the last obstacles, my nephew had a meltdown, but it was no problem. The guy watching us tried talking him through it, but ended up coming out to hold his hand through the rest of the course. We had a lot of fun that day, even with the meltdown. The staff was great and the ropes course was really cool. We'll probably try again with my nephew when he's a little older, but I'd slice to go back with some friends or even as a date night! read more

The staff was super helpful and friendly, they explained the safety rules and let you go at your own pace. Time flies, were there about 2 hrs and it felt super quick. Had daughters 10th birthday party here. It doesn't look big when you first drive up but when you get up to the top its plenty challenging! They separate out skill level like skiing. Green blue and black. Also. They have a course for smaller kids embedded in the main course. This is so they don't need assistance for adults. About 55 inches and above and you can do it on your own.
