What a great experience for our family! During these crazy Covid times, the organization and cleanliness exceeded my expectations. My husband and I were very impressed with how smoothly instructions were given throughout our experience. The process of gathering the different groups of rafters and getting them fitted for PFD's, then loaded and unloaded on the buses was perfectly streamlined. We both felt safety was a top priority. When coupled with the personality plus guides on the bus and leading our raft, the trip was a great success. Aiden was our guide and provided plenty of humor, great conversation and just the right amount of water fun for our family. A couple days later we went to another company for lazy river tubing (a service not provided by Wild Waters) and the lack of organization and lackluster attention to Covid guidelines was extremely disappointing in comparison. We almost booked our rafting excursion with this competitor, but were so glad we didn't -- we really dodged a bullet! I couldn't recommend Wild Waters Outdoor Center more. read more

This would have been a 5 star except for Jake our guide. At the point of the calm water and everyone going in, I was concerned as I am a large person. I expressed that and he said I will help you get back in. I did get in with his help yet fell back out due to everyone getting in at the same time. The 2nd time after he pulled me in, he made a comment that in the winter months he harpoons seals and pulls them into boats in Alaska. This company is great! I love the challenge and that it is level 4 and level 5 rapids. The waters were challenging and it offered an awesome ride. All you need to do is to brace yourself, and make sure that your feet is tightly tucked into the raft to not end up thrown outside the raft. Not much paddling was needed so we didn't get tired. Most of the job was done by the guide as he efficiently directed to the right currents and instructed us to paddle the right amount The trip was 17 miles and it was done within 6 hours. There were lots of things to enjoy in the trip: 2 drops, bull ride, spinning wheel, bumpy ride, fast ride, and other The worst thing about this are the annoying bugs and mosquitoes. They really annoy and bite you hard. As a precaution, you should wear repellents. Even though you wear repellents, they still bite you hard tho The trip offered free lunch, drinks, snacks, and you get to request some time to jump into the water to enjoy the nature and the quiet scenery This trip is definitely worth it, you should try it out and experience it :) read more

My boyfriend and I did the Sacandaga river rafting trip during our daycation to Lake George, and it's a great experience for first timers or beginners! You can buy water shoes, towels, and more at the base if you forgot to bring your own. There's also a photographer that takes pictures of your boat towards the end of the rafting trip and puts it on a USB for you, available for $30. They provided us with PFDs (personal floatation devices), helmets (required for 12 years old and under but recommended for all ages; some have GoPro mounts which was awesome!), and a paddle. On the 10-minute bus ride from the base to the river, they explained how to use the paddles and the "what if" situations (like if you were to fall out of the boat, which thankfully didn't happen). As for the rafting experience, it was very family-friendly. Our guide, Alex, said the rafting difficulty was a 2-3 out of 6 (5 being the most difficult to raft on and 6 being un-raft-able). To be honest, the rapids were very mellow and we barely got wet while in the boat even when the rapids were at their "fierce-est". Thankfully, it was beautiful out and there's a part of the river that's calm enough to swim in so my boyfriend and I took advantage of that and enjoyed 10 minutes or so in the water. I'd recommend this Wildwaters to beginners and anyone who's looking for family-friendly rafting trip! I'm deducting a star because they changed our reservation twice. I originally reserved a spot for 10 am, but they called the day before to inform me that the water wouldn't be turned on until 11 am. Because of that, I had to change the reservations I had for a nearby adventure course to make sure my boyfriend and I still had enough time to do both. Then two hours before our new 2 pm reservation, I got a text from them saying they had to change our reservation to 2:30 pm. They're lucky our schedule was flexible enough to accommodate them, but if we couldn't change our reservation for the adventure course, we would've had to cancel our rafting plans altogether. The website also said it'd be a 2-hour trip, but we were only on the river for about an hour and the commuting time there and back was only about 20 minutes total. read more

I truly didn't think I'd see the day where I went white water rafting, but thanks to peer pressure and the awesome guides here, I did it and I actuually had FUN! Although I felt like I was going to puke until surviving the first rapids, all the guides did a great job providing explanations and (somewhat) calming fear and anxiety with a plethora of sarcastic jokes. We had class 2 and 3 rapids which were just the right amount of adrenaline-inducing fun for me (a true wimp). Guide Theo was so great we almost booked the 2pm slot right after ours to do it all again. I will be back to enjoy it from the start! Perfect adventure for a hot day and for some bonding! read more

We took a private rafting trip with 4 adults and 4 kids. Our guide, Chris, was fantastic. He kept the kids laughing while keeping us safe on the river. Because our youngest is 8, we did the shorter trip. It was perfect. We hit some decent rapids but had some very calm waters where the kids could swim. 4th year white water rafting with wildwaters and always an amazing time with them! This year we had James as our guide and he has been one of/if not the best! He could tell we were very comfortable/more experienced rafters so he actually challenged us and made us go theough the rapids vs going on the side of them which some guides choose to do. Plus the rapids this year were a class 3-4 due to heavy rains this past week so it was the most fun this year because of James and the sick rapids. Even though we have come for years, he still taught us new names of rapids to watch for, told new and funny jokes and let us try new things like STANDING which was crazy! We are a family of adrenaline junkies so we absolutely lovedddd it :) This year our pictures didn't come out as great since they changed the spot where they take it of us. Masks were mandatory until we got on the rafts. Our guides were Aidan and Tyler. Their humor and laid-back attitudes made all of us first timers feel at ease. Third time here, still fantastic. Had Addie before and Colin this time and they're great people. Still lots of food at lunch and during the slow relaxing part at the end. The guides are so knowledgeable if you ask anything about rafting and often have been to different countries or the grand canyon and have stories to tell about that happens in different levels of water. 3 swimming sections, a jumping off rock, and a photographer to capture your memories. They give you a small mesh bag you can bring water bottles and sun screen to reapply at lunch. They also brought wet suit tops for us in case we got cold, without us even asking, but we didn't need them. Bring cash for tips, but they now accept Venmo. I did notice people thought the 4 numbers after each person's name was part of their Venmo name, but it's the phone confirmation numbers fyi. Will be back again! read more

We had a good time, but the description of what this trip was was a bit overstated. The website says the water portion is 1-1 1/2 hours long (or the 2 hours for the event) depending on the water. But--we barely had 45 minutes in the water, and I would say a large part of that was not rafting, but swimming or splashing other boats (not exactly what I thought I was paying for). Our entire experience didn't even last two hours, so I feel a bit cheated. Our guide, Westin was great, but this is a rafting trip designed for people who really don't want to raft. If you actually want to do some rafting and experience any real rapids, I would avoid this particular excursion. read more

My 18-year-old son, 14-year-old daughter and I did the 17-mile Hudson River rafting trip earlier this month to celebrate our birthdays and it was the most fun. Matthew Egan was our guide and he was terrific - what a pro! He earned our trust early on, which made my kids comfortable being more adventurous on the river than they might have been. Even when my daughter bounced out of the raft in a rough rapid, she did all the right things and Matthew had her back in the boat in no time. So she wasn't all that shaken. My group went on a quick Sacandaga River Rafting Trip this week in celebration of a friend's 30th birthday and we truly had a blast! Anneliese was a fantastic guide and kept the whole group entertained with stories (ask about the gorilla suit) and took us through the best that the rapids had to offer. We all got soaked and nearly filled the raft up with water spinning through Dragon's Back. I can say with confidence that our boat had more fun than all the others on that trip! read more

Great fun experience. Me and a group of friends checked in at around 8:30 am. Where we are given wet suits (spring only) and From there we take a bus about 30 minutes to where we hop in the river. I went in mid April so it was pretty chilly, the water was even colder but don't let this discourage you from going at this time of the year since the guide told us that this is when the rapids are the craziest. So if you're looking for a thrill go in the spring! Besides after a while you stop feeling your toes anyway haha. (There's some truth to that). The trip was 17 miles, and takes like 5 hours. Somewhere midway we stopped for lunch alongside the bank of the river. Rapids range from class 3 to 5 (in the spring, also depends if it rains the days before) The guide told us that in the summer time it's calmer and they allow people to stop and jump from rocks into the river and swim. So I do intent to go back in the summer since different experience altogether. The scenery is very nice, and mountainous. Dinner was very good. Well worth the price $70 (got a coupon ). Labor Day weekend a group of friends and I came here bright and early for a day of rafting. It was a pretty chilly day, so they provided wet suits for us all. When they call it a wet suit, they were not kidding. They were actually wet, but they told us it's because they have been washed. I've never wore a wet suit before, but I felt like a penguin waddling around in that suit. Then we've waited for a school bus that transported us to the river. The ride was about 20 minutes. I was pretty excited when we got off the bus and listened to instructions and what not. Afterall it was my first time rafting. So after the yaddy yaddas our rafts were off into the river. We had some practice at the start and then we were in it for real. Our awesome instructor known as Professor Mark gave us really good instructions. He made our rafting experience really fun and he knew so much about the history of the Hudson river and environmental studies of the river and the rocks. It was very informative and quite an experience. He gave us the opportunity to get stuck in parts of the water to experience everything. Mid-way we met up with other rafters and had lunch at the side of a hill. The lunch was not something special. It was just a regular turkey sandwich, but the hot tomato basil soup was something else. Maybe it was because I was so cold I couldn't feel my fingers or anything anymore that this hot soup really warmed me up. Even after finishing up my soup I kept the cup in my hands because the cup was still warm. During the time making our way down the river it both rained and shined throughout. At one point we snuck up behind our other friend's raft and splashed water at them. We also started to race them down the river. After returning to the starting point, we were served dinner. It was pasta, bread and fruit. An interesting thing was the plates and utensils were made out of corn, so they were compostable. They also had someone taking pictures along the river for us and we were able to purchase a CD with our pictures on it. Overall, had an awesome time white water rafting for the first time. It was Friday afternoon at 2:30pm and I get a phone call. "Hey do you want to go whitewater rafting we have an extra spot, and can you be ready in 40 minutes?" So without any other details I said yes and headed up to Wildwaters outdoor center. When we drove up, my first thoughts were camp Anawanna. Nothing particularly made me think that but it's what I thought. We unloaded and they told the overnight trip people to go over and put their things in giant dry bags in the picnic area. So we did and slowly go on our way. We had 2 guides for our 2 rafts full of people and a 3rd who went down river ahead of us. We got into the water and had to bring our raft down did some basic skills and then hit the rapids. Our instructor Crystal was great, we stopped to jump off a giant rock called jump rock and got to swim in some of the deeper parts of the river. After a while we got to a point where we gathered some firewood then headed to our site. The site was pretty nice and they had all the gear we needed, minimally. I stress minimally, I hike a lot and have a nice thermorest that packs down small and I sleep pretty well on. The sleeping pads they gave us were foam, and not egg crate foam. Mind you right now I'm being a little bit of a pain, and I hold nothing against them but if I had to do it all again. I would have taken the sleeping pad from the car and put it in my bag it takes up space a little larger then a nalgene and would have been significantly better to sleep on. If you do this trip and take only one thing way from this review, bring a nice sleeping pad. I digress, they had plenty of tents for everyone, a couple people brought their own too. People slept comfortably too. It wasn't 2 dude in a 2 person tent, someone uncomfortable regardless of your orientation, so we all had some space. For the food we ate surprisingly well. Ive been on and set up and cooked on trips were you boat in. I expected camping food, of the dehydrated persuasion. I didn't expect sandwiches, chicken, salad, corn, baked potatoes, and so on. If you went to bed hungry, it was 100% your fault. As for the staff they were friendly and helpful. They cooked everything and shared some stories with us. Overall a great bunch, If I came back I think I might request them if they were on. read more

I has such a great time at Wild Waters! My school's outing club booked a trip through Wild Waters and they were very happy to accommodate a large group (25 of us) and to answer all our questions along the way. Although the water was very cold during April, the wetsuits we rented kept us warm and the lunch provided was delicious. Overall, the experience was great and I would do it again. This was our first time rafting and we all had so much fun. We came with a large group of 20 and were split into 3 rafts. All of our guides were great, from the gearing up, to our safety talk on the bus all the way to the very end. Being first timers we had a couple of nervous people. Our guide Theo was so good at putting us all at ease. He was so enthusiastic and personable. Made the entire experience great! The river itself was very gentle. There were a few spots where we had some rougher rapids but it was perfect for us. Everyone especially enjoyed jumping into the river for a swim! The weather was overcast and drizzly and we were all initially bummed but it worked out really well. Turns out rafting is a perfect rainy day activity! 10/10 would return and recommend! read more

This was the HIGHLIGHT of me and my friends' month-long Adirondacks trip, and we would do it over and over and over again if we had the choice! We booked the 17-mile Hudson River Gorge Rafting trip, which started off with a 45 minute bus ride to the starting point, followed by training on how to navigate and paddle the raft in a safe, shallow body of water. Covid precautions (mask wearing, etc.) as well as general rapid precautions (how to stay secure in the raft, what to do and not to do if you fall out of the raft, how to paddle properly, etc.) were emphasized throughout the trip. Our guide, Mike, was fantastic. Not only did he entertain us with his wild stories, but he also helped my friend optimize his GoPro usage (provided a helmet with the mount & extra string to secure the GoPro in place, told him when to record and when to turn off the camera to preserve battery, etc.) & rescued another one of my friends when they flew out of the raft during one of the rapids. We had a great time, and would recommend anyone who's down for an adrenaline rush (and a good workout) to sign up for this! read more

This is the email that I wrote to the owner Douglas (I loved our experience SO MUCH I HAD to write and share it with him). If you go just remember that guides are tipped typically 20%...and the guides at Wild Waters definitely earn their share! Fantastic company! =) Hi Wild Waters & Douglas, My group and I were just at Wild Waters this past Saturday and we had SO much fun! Our guides, Avery and Jon were amazing and just so much fun on the waters. The whole staff at Wild Waters were great and really friendly. Everyone in the group mentioned how well organized and clean the facility was too. I don't normally feel compelled to email a company but I just wanted to share with the company what a great experience we had. I really want the company to know how great we thought of the guides and the rest of the staff. I haven't been white water rafting in over 3 years, but I had so much fun the first trip that I just knew we had to come back just 2 weeks later. I was at Wild Waters around August 14th for a family rafting trip and Avery was our guide then and he was so much fun, friendly and such a great guide. During dinner on the first trip, I talked to Avery about what his schedule was usually like because I knew I wanted to come back. I was visiting Lake George on an annual camping trip at the end of August with friends and the original plan had been to do some cave exploring, but after a day on the waters I convinced everyone that white water rafting was going to be so much more fun. I was really happy when Avery was available to be one of our guides. Our group was really pumped for the day. Having such enthusiastic and fun guides made the day so much better. Our boat just loves Avery! He hit every wave, made the waters really exciting and was so incredibly nice! My boyfriend and I had been on the family trip on the 14th and Avery had mentioned that he bakes his own multigrain bread for his family and on this trip on the 25th he surprised the whole boat with a loaf of it! My boyfriend and I just thought it was the nicest thing. The boat was also really surprised when Avery pulled out snacks for everyone during one of the calm portions, especially since people felt their sugar levels dropping (Avery did that last time too, and the family was super appreciative of it then too). My boyfriend was also really happy when Avery taught him the trick on how to get back in the raft, he was swimming around trying to teach our other friends how to do it too. At one point in the rapids I was also knocked out of the boat, but Avery was so swift that he pulled me right back in immediately. I was really thankful, because even though I know a PFV would have kept me afloat, I can't swim so getting yanked back in the boat so quickly was really, really great! Our other friends were with Jon, and two of them had never raft before and had a blast! They were concerned at first about the rapids, but by the end of the day, they just wanted to keep going. My friends tell me that Jon was a fantastic guide, hit the waters for most adventure and was just really nice. I can't say enough great things about Avery and Jon, they are fantastic guides, just really awesome people! We already told them how much fun we had, but I hope you share with them that we really loved having them as our guides. Our group did have one suggestion for the company that we hope you take to heart. We all noticed that there were no signs posted on proper tipping and just thought it would be a good idea for signs to be posted. I had done some research before hand, (I hate under tipping) and wanted to ensure that we tipped properly. I've worked in customer service before, and I know companies typically don't want to push tipping. We all agreed though, that a sign or anything so that well-intentioned customers know how much is the proper/usual amount would be helpful because without having researched beforehand most people in the group didn't know the proper etiquette. Everyone was really glad that I had looked it up before hand because they all had so much fun that they said they all said they would have felt really bad if they tipped improperly. Again, I just wanted to emphasize what an amazingly great time the whole group had with Wild Waters. Everyone we met was really nice and friendly, the facilities were clean, the trips were well organized and clearly, the guides are great. We're definitely spreading the word about what a great company Wild Waters is. You'll probably see something on yelp soon! P.S. Came here during Labor Day weekend to try some extreme-esque activity. It was supposed to be 2 hours long but we were in the water for about an hour. I guess they consider the school bus ride from the main office to the river part of the 2 hours. Really liked the guides- they were funny and seemed to really know what they were doing. Especially the guide my group was with, forget his name though. They rapids itself were ehhh... I expected more, honestly. It felt brief and calm, like I could've done this in a fake river in disney world or something. OH ! Best part was that you can go swimming in the river for like 15 minutes.
