I told them I was taking it home so I'd have 20 min drive & would love a hot mocha now while I wait and shake for desert. I got a taco salad and fried zucchini with a shake- and talk about not worth it.... The shake came out first which wasn't a huge concern until 25 minutes later when I'm still standing there with no mocha, no salad and a very melted shake. They finally gave me the salad after 45 minutes and when I asked for money back for mocha they just made one quick (and lacking the extra shots of espresso I paid for). I came home and was CHARGED $14 + $5 for meat For a salad with 2tbsp of toppings, not even a tomato. There was a scoop of corn with sour cream and 3 tiny pieces of chicken. I was so angry I almost went back. The zucchini was greasy and burned. Shake I put in the freezer and ate when it came a thick and there was about .5 cup left (I had to also scrape the whip off since when I said no whip they again just didn't do it right). Again, wish I could say something nice about it besides it's a pretty lawn, however, this was a huge waste of $50 and I'll never return.

We asked for a table outside because she can't hear well, and the cafe was bustling and loud. The staff seated us, but had to move tables around outside. The hostess and a "regular" of the cafe said things like "this is what we do in a tourist economy." "We have to accommodate the tourists." As if we were a bother and they were bending over backward to accommodate us. Because my mother in law was there, and she is emotionally raw right now, I avoided conflict. So I'll say now, what I wanted to say to those snarky, rude employees Thursday: My husband's family has had a plot in the Taylorsville cemetery for longer than those two ladies been alive -- combined. His grandmother had 2 restaurants in Greenville. His mother is a fixture in the community, living through the Dixie fire and coming back to rebuild her life. Now she'll bury her husband there. My sister and brother in law worked in public service in Quincy for decades. We aren't tourists. And even if we were, you were incredibly unwelcoming. You made a sad day worse. The food was fine.

Me and the boy…read morewere strolling through the historic downtown, poking our heads into little shops, when we stumbled across Treat. Talk about perfect timing. The sun was out, we'd done our fair share of walking, and an ice cream cone sounded like just what the doctor ordered. I grabbed a fresh waffle cone loaded with some kind of almond fudge mocha masterpiece don't ask me the official name because I was too busy enjoying it! The boy got something different, and judging by how fast it disappeared, I'd say he approved too. The waffle cone was fresh, the ice cream was rich and creamy, and every bite hit the spot. It's one of those little places that fits Nevada City perfectly simple, welcoming, and exactly what you hope to find while exploring an old mining town. If you're strolling through downtown on a warm afternoon, do yourself a favor and stop at Treat. Cool off, grab a cone, sit on a bench, and watch the world go by. First class all the way. After all... they didn't name it Treat for nothing. Go ahead treat yourself.
