Huckleberry ice cream with thick jam
    Nicole C.

This was a decent place for ice cream. We came after dinner with 8 people. There were only two people working there, but one of them didn't speak English, so he was cleaning and not helping customers. The girl spoke English and was taking and making all the orders herself, so it moved pretty slowly. They had quite a few flavors, the classic ones and also some unique ones. They also had lots of sundae options. I had a banana split with Rocky road, chocolate almond, and huckleberry ice cream. The ice creams were all really good, but the huckleberry had a lot of thick jam running through it that was chewy. The ice cream shop was cute, with old fashioned decor.

A snowcone filled with water that drips

They got my order wrong twice when I repeated it loud and clearly and the workers might be deaf and it is very expensive to buy, i also got a snowcone and they filled it with water.

SUPER disappointed in the wasted potential of this place. Just a few observations from my visit: -Considering this is called "Bud's Fountain" (and there is a "Coca Cola Fountain Service" display inside) you would think they serve fountain soda. I'm not even asking for hand mixed soda syrup, just a regular soda fountain would've worked. Nope, the soda was canned. -Floats/ice cream are not actually served in a glass dish typical of your classic soda fountain/ice cream joint--single use plastic & styrofoam only (Note: classic ice cream dishes/glasses were on display behind the counter, and pictured on the signs outside). Not a deal breaker, but it made the whole experience feel that much cheaper. Plus the Coca Cola branding certainly made the off brand soda that was actually served stand out. -The exterior is super cute, love the signage especially. The interior, however, is dingy and outdated. Attached are photos; you can see crumbs/debris all over the floors and counters, as well as a lack of tables in some of the booths?! -There was no music playing, and the general ambience was lacking. I understand the staff were probably teenagers working summer jobs but the service was pretty subpar. I love a retro, small town vibe but Bud's unfortunately just felt overlooked. -The price...$22+ for two ice cream treats? I ordered a basic root beer float, and my partner got a waffle cup chocolate ice cream w/ sprinkles, oreos, and chocolate syrup. The toppings really add up, and for mediocre ice cream it felt egregious. I was SO excited to pass this spot as I love love love an old school ice cream spot, but this was a major disappointment. It's basically a shell of what it could be, or maybe used to be.

This ice cream shop left much to be desired. The ice cream tasted like freezer burn. The establishment also was extremely dirty, tables, walls, carpet raising concerns about hygiene and overall cleanliness. The place smelled like mildew. The staff were friendly.

We ordered the brownie sundae with chocolate ice cream .... The brownies were stale and the icecream we didn't care for either... We asked for hot chocolate fudge and they didn't have it... in the end we dumped the entire icecream and walked out... quite disappointed with the place....

Yes, you are paying more than you would at a grocery store - that's the price of convenience and it's a small general store, not a massive chain. However, everything there is high quality and it's saved me so many times from having to go all the way into town for something we needed for dinner. I also can't say enough about the ice cream they have, especially the sherbert! I believe it comes from Gunthers in Sacramento and it is seriously some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Everyone who works there has been friendly and helpful, the store is always clean and well stocked, and I hope it continues to succeed in town. I come in here no less than a few times a week, whether for a drink, ice cream, a to-go sandwich, or grocery items, and have never had an issue. I'm glad they're selling shirts and more merch now too, because it really is a Glenshire staple.

First bonus perk, check in you get a free coffee or a scoop of ice cream. I decided to go for coffee because it's freezing, and 10:30 AM lol. I was greeted as I walked in by Bobby. A genuinely nice personable guy. I showed him the coupon for free coffee, and then we started talking about the market. He said he really enjoyed it here. It is just like one of those old neighborhood markets that I had when I was growing up. Nice deli section, meat section, pretty much all around mom and Pop style grocery store. Really enjoyed my visit here, and want to come back and try the Gunthers ice cream.

Great food. Great atmosphere…read more I have met up here many times with friends when I want to enjoy breakfast and chat at a slower pace. The staff is always welcoming.

Happy hour: unfortunately, the head chef was out of town and the sous chef was unable to make two of the four items on the happy hour menu. This did limit what my brother could eat since he has medical dietary restrictions that prevent him from being able to eat gluten or dairy. He essentially could have nothing lol. There was a Wagyu slider on the menu and we asked if they could just turn it into a small salad with no dairy and they said yes! Everyone else also ordered the sliders as a happy hour dish and they were very good. The wine price for happy hour was on the pricey side with red wine averaging $15 per glass. I think in the future, I would skip happy hour unless all items are available to order and I'd stick with beer for a more affordable happy hour price. 2. Breakfast: a small group of us enjoyed breakfast together and this was probably my favorite meal. I loved the variety on the menu and service was very good as well. I had the breakfast quesadilla, my fiancé had the breakfast burrito, my dad had the Chilaquiles, and my stepmom had the avocado toast. She did wish that the avocado toast was made with a thicker slice of toast as this just looked like grocery store sliced bread. Outside of that, we all felt like our breakfasts had a great amount of flavor and would definitely recommend coming back. My brother and a few other families also dined here throughout the trip and mentioned their love of the restaurant for breakfast as well. 3. Dinner: our last meal as a family was spent here. Our server from happy hour the day before was our server tonight, so we knew it would be a great experience! She was on top of all our orders, friendly, and accommodating. While most of the food was delicious, several of us mentioned that our vegetables were undercooked and almost tasted raw. Too much crunch and not enough cook. That being said, I highly recommend ordering the bread, the Shishito peppers, and the steak. Those were our favorite bites of the night! Honorable mention goes to the soba noodles and the salmon. If it weren't for those vegetables, I would definitely order the salmon again!
