He got us saddled up and matched us with horses to ensure we would all have a pleasant ride as well as a explanation refresher how-to-ride since it had been awhile since I'd been on a horse. We got to come up close and personal with the livestock on the ranch. I got to know why my horse is named Bam Bam. My husband and I enjoyed our private tour so much we are talking about making it a thing wherever we travel to go horseback riding. Met at Alcantara Vineyards (not at the address on their website) and rode around the Verde River (as well as across it) and then rode to the top of a hill with amazing views of AZ. Rob was a wonderful tour guide. We walked with the horses, but also got to gallop a few times. Rob also taught us about some berries and plants we could eat in the wild, and we got to try a couple! I have ridden with about 7 other trail riding businesses within an hour of Phoenix and I will say this is one of my favorites. My daughter and I own and show horses so are not new to riding. We did the 2 hour Cowpoke ride and it was very scenic. It's not a difficult ride and the views are beautiful. I chose this business because their rides are all private. What an absolute horrid experience my wife and I had. We showed up in time per the instructions given to us, only to see a group leave the staging area. They were already leaving at the check-in time. Beyond perplexing. A 30 minute drive out, just to really represent a 90 minte waste of time. read more

John and Alex were both nice!! John was our guide as we rode along the border of the Out of Africa Wildfire Zoo. I saw a baby giraffe, some zebra and Impala. It was a really nice ride, my horses name was Pe Pe Le Pew, he was really stubborn! Didn't like to be told to stop but it was never a problem. He followed behind the other horse for the most part but was a speed demon a few times coming past others moving too slowly for him and I was here for it lol.,. We started arrive 645 so we got to see the sun set and returned around 8pm. I'd highly recommend it and you don't need any expert level horse skills, I hadn't ridden since I was a kid and I felt comfortable. read more

So fun. Everyone was so nice and the Wranglers were great! it was My boyfriends first time riding a horse and Brandi the horse made him feel so comfortable. I rode Bam Bam and he was an amazing and beautiful horse. I have gone on a few group trail rides before and this was by far the best one I have ever been to. The wranglers obviously care about their horses and give you important safety tips on how to keep the horse comfortable and safe. I have been to a lot of stables where they just slap you on a horse and don't give any instructions at all, which is dangerous to both the horse and the rider. The scenery was beautiful as well and definitely worth the money. This was one of the best parts of my trip to Arizona! read more

It was amazing!!! Mr Keyes was great. Showed us around and explained the land and spoke of the animals. It was amazing to ride these majestic animals. We rode near the African safari land, saw zebra, giraffe, gazelle(or different type of antelope). My horse dusty was a little slow and started lumpy, poor baby. My friend ride copperhead? I believe. After our ride we were able to stick around and see the animals in the corrals. The goats and piggies are free roaming. SUNSHINE is the cutest baby goat. She climbed up on our legs and wanted to be petted. We planked and it instantly climbed up lol the best!!! Loved every moment of it!!! read more

Such a bad experience. I have been on several vacation horseriding experiences, this was hands down the worst. I did the 90 minute horseriding trail. Here are some things to expect: 1) It is near impossible to contact them or have them return your phone call. We tried to reschedule the time 4 days ahead and they never answered or returned any of our 3 messages, so we had to go at our originally scheduled time. 2) The whole trail is a miserable sun exposed, super super slow walk through a desert with no views, unless you count the highway, the cement factory, and the distant buildings. It is the opposite if scenic. 3) The guides didn't provide information or enjoyable banter along the way except to stop the train of horses (often) to advertise for the "out of africa" zoo that was near there. I swear they are being paid to advertise that place. The guide riding next to us was pretty quiet except to bring up his pro-trump politics and how he is broke and had to sell all his stuff. 4) The whole ride is excrutiatingly slow, your horse will never trot, only walk at 1mph with its face in the horses ass in front of it. There is no need to hold the reigns or have your feet in the stirrups. These horses probably do this same trail 10 times a day, and you can tell they are not enjoying it as much as you aren't. (the amount of flies on the horses and you is insane) 5) The have multiple signs around the place that you need to tip the guides 15%-20%. 20% is like $20 a person. (Nothing about this on the website, no ATM on site, so it feels like a shakedown for a shitty experience). The other 2 horseriding spots I went to in Branson and Florida didn't ask for a tip. The guides didn't adjust my stirrups or nothing. The guides get to ride around your pathetic, slow, face to ass moving horse train having fun while you are having a slow trudge in the hot sun. If you want to see how depressed a horse can feel or see how you feel crawling along an Arizona highway in the hot sun, then this is your spot. Never again and I hope this place stops tricking people out of hundreds of dollars. read more

My partner and I are slightly disappointed with our experience at Wild Western. We booked our ride for our anniversary trip and was told to arrive 30 minutes early to check in. After check in, we walked around the property. Lots of interesting things to look at! There's cows, dogs and of course-horses! We started our tour directly after the last one came in. It was just me and my partner on the tour plus our guide. I was confused when we started the ride and was not given helmets, even though we signed a contract saying we would wear them. I really wanted one, but did not speak up (thought they would give us them at some point), so my bad. I was fine with no helmet until my horse started acting up. He was not listening to my commands nor the guides. He seemed to get spooked and started walking fast and turning abruptly and getting very bothered. Employees were struggling to handle the situation. It definitely scared me. Guide eventually got a handle of it and tied me to his horse. However, his horse was new and was also acting up. Horse was not listening. Halfway through I was untied just in case which I appreciated. My horse had calmed down and was fine. Tour was over in an hour. It was okay. Just a lot of silence. We both kinda wish we had a different guide or something because we don't feel as if the ride was worth the money. It was very bland and kinda nerve wracking. read more

Absolutely horrible experience today. They were pressuring our 9, 11 and 13 year old daughters (two non vaccinated) to take off their masks so they could hear them. Clearly they had different political views than our own, which is fine, but unacceptable to push anti mask wearing on children. Plus the guides were rude and yelling at kids in other groups. Our kids were excited to go riding and we wish we had never experienced this. Avoid this outfit and these people at all costs. read more

We thought this would be the highlight of our visit to the Sedona area but it was a huge disappointment. Originally we had booked the sunset ride at the vineyard but due to poor weather they rescheduled us for the next day at the Wild West ride. They assured me it was a great ride and we would see about 20 calf's and African animals at the nearby African animal park. We arrived to our scheduled time only to discover they had no record of our reservation and there was another family there who also had been rescheduled from the day before but also no record of their reservation. They had 19 horses ready but were 6 horses short. We waited about 25 minutes not sure if we would get to ride, after driving over an hour to the location. They ended up rescheduling the other family a third time, but were able to prepare three more horses for us so we could ride then. I did appreciate their effort but then the horse my 13 year old daughter got looked very sickly, was difficult for her to handle, and she shared later she was terrified the whole time (she is a first time rider). I also noticed that her horse had diarrhea unlike the other horses that had healthy looking droppings. Since they didn't have enough horses they gave me a little pregnant pony and the makeshift rope reins they had prepared were too short for me to reach, and my daughter had the same issue. I told the ranch hand and he said sorry that's all we have left. This meant I couldn't really steer the horse without leaning over and straining my back. It also contributed to my daughter struggling to handle her horse. Several times her horse left the line of horses and a ranch hand had to rush over to take control of the animal. In the middle of the ride a ranch hand rode by us and declared to his companion with delight -"I love the horse I got this time he's so responsive." Really rubbed salt in our wounds that an employee got a beautiful horse with nice long leather reins that he could really enjoy. Halfway through the ride one of the horses ahead of us tripped and landed on its front knees. Fortunately the child riding that horse was not thrown but as inexperienced riders it was scary to see. Also, we saw some cows but never did see the calves or any African animals at the neighboring wildlife park. I can see by the reviews this is not typical for this establishment but we had a really bad experience. The one highlight was that my son got to ride a very fine looking horse with long enough reins he could comfortably hold. Addition: I got a very nice apology letter from the owner which made a big difference. Based on that and the otherwise stellar reviews I would consider trying this place again. read more

My Mom + I were blown away! Such a great adventure to finish off our day. We usually like to ride where ever we can on vacation. The horses are extremely well taken care of + the staff is unbelievably kind. Julian, our guide, provided fun facts about the area while entertaining us with his amazing riding along side of us on his Mustang. We were apart of a big group & both guides did an excellent job of watching all of us, keeping the horses together while providing some fun. We arrived 20 mins early, and check in/waiver was really quick, so we had time to walk around the ranch and see the animals. Had a great trip with a fairly small group. One couple got broken off from the group, because the woman was extremely scared (horse wasn't acting up or anything), but couple had already warned the guides ahead of time, so they were ready for it. Views were great, though it's too bad that ranch and trail are by the highway. We did the 90min ride, which is just like the 60min with a little added detour, which was fine. We got a good amount of time where there was no highway noise and just lovely views. On some trail rides you'll get really lazy and worn out horses, but not here. The horses were calm and well mannered, but didn't seem unhappy or worn down. It's a really good place overall and I highly recommend it. read more

Had a really fun time today riding on "Dusty" the 30yr old horse. Our guide who's name escapes me was quality too, he was the lead wrangler I think he said and he was so friendly and welcoming. We arrived earlier and he said feel free to go and check out the other animals they have here like Llamas, goats, ponies, cows and a load of horses. He introduced us to his lovely little cow hearding dog who would chase any loose cows back to where they should be. The ride itself was made more interesting by the fact you pass by the "out of Africa" grounds and we managed to catch a glimpse of a tiger and some wildebeests. The guide has plenty of interesting facts about Camp Verde's history and about the mines located in the mountains we could see throughout the walking guided tour. We would definitely come back when we are next in town, he made the experience what it was and no wonder he's in charge over there. He knows his stuff and had quality customer service. I will recommend this horse riding facility to any and all of my friends that visit the great state of Arizona. Thanks so much and I hope to see you guys again in the future! Amazing time!!! The best horses and trail guides we have ever had!! The horses were so healthy and well kept. Gorgeous horses! We had 12 of us with 6 kids and the horses were so well behaved and great with the kids. The guides were very nice and so funny and entertaining and took the time to get to know us. Another thing we loved was when we arrived they had Marty Robbins playing and we hung out and kept warm around a huge campfire. The kids loved getting to see all of the animals from the out of Africa park. We saw zebras, deer, tigers, lions, wildebeest and giraffe. All of us had the best time and are so happy. It was my husband's and I first time visiting Sedona and weren't sure what to plan for our day. I looked up horseback riding and this was one of the first options to come up. They were able to get us a reservation for beginner horseback riding same day and it was such a wonderful experience!! Julian was our tour guide and he was very informational and friendly.
