The one request I had from the family when we decided to visit Sedona was that we go horseback riding. I am so glad that I found Trail Horse Adventures on my meanderings through Google! The kids weren't sure what to make of a horseback ride at Dead Horse Ranch. It was a wonderful experience especially for the kids who had never done anything other than pony rides. We rode across the river a couple of times which was fun. The trail was scenic, and our tour guide, Adriana, might have been the best part. Her family owned the ranch decades ago, and she pointed out where her grandfather took his first steps and told us about the horse the park is named after. She even took pictures of the four of us. I strongly recommend them for a trail horse

This was such a fun experience! Found Trail Horse Adventures while searching for horseback riding which would be good for kids and people who have zero experience in horseback riding :) Our 7 yr old was particularly excited and anxious about riding a horse for the first time. The team at Trail Horse did such a fabulous job of comforting her. Their horses are gentle and very well trained. The trail was beautiful and all of us had a fabulous time. Horses going in water was a huge hit with everyone! Kids also got to give their horses some treats. If you are in cottonwood area then surely give them a try - book a morning ride to avoid afternoon heat and don't wear your fav jeans (the trail is dusty).

Absolutely wonderful family and story, along with beautiful horses, a ride to remember forever! Privileged to meet this family and hear their story and see the wonderful park. Can't wait to come back! This is a MUST DO!

I liked this place so much I went twice. I did the one hour and the 90 minute ride. I got the same horse Frank the Tank. He is so much fun to ride. He is a curly russian draft horse.

We had a great time riding! I've been riding horses since I was 4yrs old, but have never ridden a horse through a river, so this was a first for me! We did the outlaw trail, which goes through a beautiful trail through Dead Horse Ranch, the trail was super dusty as it hasn't rained for a while. Our guide Adrianna was super sweet, knowledgeable and pointed out different birds, plants etc throughout the trail. Of course I would have loved to trot and canter through the trail, but it was a walking ride. The two other riders we were grouped with had no experience. One of the best parts is this is a family owned business that has been on this property for a long time! Adrianna and Christian told us stories about their grandfather who took his first steps on this property, it was pretty cool to hear all the history about their family! We enjoyed our time here!

Trail Horse Adventure is located inside Dead Horse Ranch State Park. My best friends niece is visually impaired and requires special needs assistant, but has been wanting to go on a horse ride for quite some time now. We talked to the people here and they were all so friendly and helpful. They told us they had pony rides for kids and they could accommodate us. While her niece was scared and struggling to get on the horse, the staff members who were working helped calm her down and were very patient. They talked to her the whole time she was on the pony and she finally calmed down and enjoyed the pony ride. We hope to come back here sometime for adult horse rides!

Had a great 1.5 hr ride with Adriana this morning. She was very knowledgable about the plants, wildlife, and history of the park. Bonita, the horse I rode, was very sweet and pretty. I had a very good time, a great place to go horseback riding.

Thank you! My daughter had a great time on her ride with Ally. Something different and fun to do while visiting Grandma in Cottonwood. They were ready for her when we arrived. Paying ahead online was easy and convenient. Pleasant and professional staff.

Excellent one hour ride today with Devin. My horse, Diablo, provided me a great ride through the scenic landscapes of this Arizona State Park just outside Sedona. Our ride was the easy trail and was primarily on flat surfaces, with just a few spots with a small incline or decline. We went even waded across a river. There is a $7.00 fee to be paid at the entrance to the state park. We had planned to do some hiking after the trail ride, but it started raining about 15 minutes before our ride was over, so we never had a chance to explore the park.

I think we were a mixed group of about 18 guests. All of our tour guides were professional, knowledgeable, fun, and lighthearted people. They made absolutely sure we were all safe and having a great time. If you don't want to wait on other people and prefer a smaller group, get the private tour. There wasn't much shade but we were dressed for the heat and had plenty of water and our guides made sure we stayed hydrated. Each horse has a saddle bag for water and small personal items. Jalynn (I think that was her name) did an excellent job rounding up the group and taking charge. She knew what she was doing and how to handle her horse. Chaz and Marina were also our guides and they did a great job of us staying in line. Friendly and personable. I rode Cody and my husband rode Blue. They provided water and Gatorade. There is only one outhouse. They have Clorox wipes, toilet paper and a hand washing station with soap. (And paper towels. ) The lady at our bed and breakfast recommended this place. I hadn't seen it online and they had same day availability. We were on the 2pm tour so if you don't want to be so hot, go in the morning. Lots of dust so be prepared.

I booked a ride with my mother in law, who had no riding experience. Saara was very attentive with her to ensure she had the proper riding form and felt safe in the saddle. By the end, she was a completely different rider with Saara's help. I grew up riding, so Saara let me take the lead for much of the trail and we went at the pace we dictated. She was taking photos of us throughout and send them promptly at the end of the ride. The trails she selects have magnificent views, and you truly get to ride--not like sitting in a horse caravan with a line of riders at the big riding places. Her horses are clearly happy and well cared for, and they are alert and fun to ride. Again, nothing like the big places with worn down, overworked horses that hate what they're doing day in and day out. This is by far the best riding experience you can pick in Sedona for groups of four or less.

As we followed Big Bug Creek and made our way deeper into the forest, both Phyliss and Janice shared an incredible wealth of knowledge.
